When it came to selecting the 15 songs for this video, I had three criteria in mind: commercial success, critical success, and genre influencing. My videos in the past have typically emphasized commercial success but ignored the other two criteria. I created this criteria to diversify the songs that would appear on this video. Here's how each song made the list: Commercial Success: Mona Lisa by Nat King Cole Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley and His Comets Que Sera Sera by Doris Day Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin Critical Success: Tutti Frutti by Little Richard I Walk the Line by Johnny Cash Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis That'll be the Day by The Crickets Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochran Genre Influencing: Your Cheatin' Heart by Hank Williams (Honky-Tonk Country) Earth Angel by The Penguins (Doo-Wop) La Bamba by Ritchie Valens (Chicano Rock) What'd I Say by Ray Charles (Soul) So What by Miles Davis (Modal Jazz)
Nathaniel, I just discovered your channel and have subscribed - I hope I put you over 100K. From what I've seen so far, you are indeed the Music Man. I look forward to digging into your channel. From Larry.
Good list but how could the announcer have the recordings on in the background and still mispronounce two titles..."Que Sera Sera" and "What'd I Say" are not "Que Sarah Sarah" and "What Did I Say"

I felt Chuck Berry was missing from this video but otherwise this was really well-done
Thank you very much. I can honestly say that if I could have fit one more song into this video, it would have been Johnny B. Goode.
Was the first black and white part of the song Buddy Holly?
Yep! That'll be the Day by Buddy Holly and The Crickets.
@@NathanielJordon I knew it!
Chick Berry should be in the list.
The real era of music, today don't know what this crap is they are playing.
There was definitely a lot of great music back then!

Amen !
There is no music anymore , its junk today 😏
What about anything by The Platters?
Great group. Couldn't fit them and many other amazing groups into a list of 15.
