19:05 Spiderman Web of Shadows did this exact thing back in 2008. The symbiote suit had completely different movesets, animations compared to the red suit. That game had its issues for sure and has aged in some spots worse than others but I will always love how they handled the 2 different suits

my problem with this showcase was the fact that it very EASILY could've been a state of play instead of a showcase. the main point & the main thing that differentiated the showcase from the state of play was the fact that showcases typically are for HEAVY HITTERS instead of 80% indies & cgi trailers for ip's no one knows anything about.

True, I didn’t think this was a humbling experience or a bad experience lmao. It just shouldn’t have been a showcase. I feel like if they showed a bit of MGS3 remake gameplay, the complaints wouldn’t be this loud lmao. The other reveals were short cgi trailers that had *zero* gameplay. Spider-Man 2 was the only major title that was under the spotlight for more than a minute. You’d expect a showcase to show off gameplay of 2 major titles and reveal 1-2 major titles.

It has taken the focus off the console and now PS5 is trash. People hated on the PS3 but the PS3 had exclusives in the first year alone. More than what PS5 has in three years.
I don't think sony has to come with greatness every time, but you cant go 2 years without showing SHIT then come back with 3rd party, CGI which amounts to nothing and basically just SPIDERMAN that show was a 2 pack of ass even if your expectations are in check

This new obsession of Jim Ryan focusing on gaas is worrying. The details from Fairgames is screaming 30 people playing on steam after 3 months of release. MEGA FLOP
When in symbiote form Spidey still uses the same dodge flipping animation. They should switch that up and have him dodge with the tendrils or something. Same with his swinging while in the black suit should look completely different. I hope they have time to add those finishing touches. Some of the swing animations and fight movements were exactly the same as first game.
This is how I felt also. The swinging needs to be different. Or just more animations from the first game but we will see

I think the symbiote wasn't fully fused with Peter's DNA just yet. The trailer showed him after Peter first got the symbiote suit. Later in the game we'll see Peter really start to change
@@DarkManX16 I hope so but I'd assume a simple dodge animation could pretty much start as soon as you have the suit. I just don't want to feel like the same Spider-Man with new tendril attacks. I want to feel like a completely different Spiderman altogether.
I'd put a decent amount of blame on yourself if all you got out of it was spider-man when they showed Dragon's Dogma 2, mgs3, Alan Wake 2, Phantom Blade, etc. Not gone hold you.. it kinda comes off as spidey bias
The biggest graphical leap I ever saw in my lifetime was in 1999 when I first saw games on the Dreamcast. NFL2k, Soul Calibur. Coming from PS1 & N64 those games looked amazing lol & such a huge increase..Since then it's pretty much just been marginal improvements graphically per the next consoles. Except Nintendo they kinda have gone backwards.

Once the Console games started to match arcade games in graphics and sound quality that was the most signifigant progression in games history. Even though it was trash Back then Dreamcast was the first console to incorporate Online multiplayer as well. Dreamcast was the last truly groundbreaking innovatve console. Despite it being killed by the ps2 launch. Sidebar Dreamcast controller was the most unconfortable thing to hold I hated it.
I mean GOWR & HFW for me were a leap from PS4, but I agree graphically this maybe the last generation of any leap, since 8k is miniscule graphically. I hypothesis that future generations will be about power aka how much shit it can load at once. That or they'll be like phones were everything is slightly better but now its rose gold.
Facts, i remember my first time playing Shenmue and it's realism. I was so immersed in that game. It did real time realism before GTA did it.

The reason this showcase flopped:
1. The lack of 1st party PS Studios games in a PS Showcase
2. Waaay too much CG trailers and not enough gameplay.
3rd party showing was actually awesome
Phantom blade 0, MGS Delta, Dragon's Dogma, Alan Wake II, Sword of the Sea.. etc And those are just the ones I'm personally excited for.. the showcase had way more stuff. Just not enough 1st party.
I’m pretty sure that’s the first time miles sees Peter in the black suit so I can only imagine he hasn’t been in it too long from that section of story I feel like it will gradually change more over time

Everything felt off. You show Final Fantasy 16 for the 11th time and don’t release a demo, none of their first party games has a release date, new Ip’s were CGi, Gran Turismo trailer was tacked on near the end, and none of the 3rd party exclusive that were previously announced (Stelar Blade, Silent Hill 2 and Final Fantasy Rebirth) were not even there. Not to mention that MGS trailer was weird and weak.

I think Sony would've tempered expectations a lot better if they split this into 3 separate shows. One state of play for indies, another short one for PSVR2 and then have this showcase be 20-30mins and have exclusively AAA content. I think it would've been a lot more acceptable to most viewers....

It was project q that made me feel that this event was a total failure. It’s literally two ends of a ps5 controller glued to an LCD screen and the fact it’s only made for streaming makes it even worse. Like as if no one has a smart phone and the ability to buy the ps5 backbone. I’m really disappointed in this “showcase”.

This actually made me realize that people don't actually know that the Showcases are for concepts and reveals that are far out and the State of Plays are for concrete info, like release dates and updates on games that are nearing launch. Something I read recently from people in the industry is that CG trailers are more for suits and job offers. It shows whatever concept a dev team believes is marketable to anyone that would want to pick it up and fund it. While also making people who have the talents that are interested aware so they can apply to work on a game if it interests them enough. Like Bungie having 80+ job offers right now.
Very true. That’s kinda why E3 went down the drain and became irrelevant. E3 became an event for investors and business suits, it hadn’t felt like the Super Bowl of video games since the 2000’s. I feel like they could’ve showed off a little bit of MGS3 Remake gameplay as well as reveal 2 more major exclusives they’re working on. Spider-Man 2 was basically the only major exclusive for this event. It pretty much used the same spotlight it was under back in 2021. The last showcase didn’t really feel like it was 100x better than this showcase, but they did show off 2 major exclusives (Spider-Man 2 and GoW Ragnarok) compared to only 1 exclusive for this event…even though we already saw a bit of Spider-Man 2 gameplay almost 2 years ago :/ . This event honestly should’ve been a juicy State of Play

Sony and Microsoft post COVID have been very mid even the hype for current gen consoles were fairly mid
@@PepeAgain1025 idk where you’ve been but E3’s quality declined and eventually sucked for a handful of years before they shut down. There’s a reason why PS started State of Play and Nintendo started Direct. Going to E3 in person also started to become very boring, nowhere near as fun and as much of a spectacle compared to the 2000’s and early 2010’s.
Suits and people looking for jobs were not watching this show. Customers were.

I’m going to be honest…Jim Ryan needs to step down. Shawn Layden and other PlayStation ceos (while not perfect) pushed the marketing for Sony’s consoles to the MAX. During the ps3-ps4 era, we got stuff like the Micheal commercial, the Kevin butler ads, E3 2015 and E3 2016. PlayStation needs stuff like that again to help push their brand.
The show was below mid. The only games they showed I was interested in were FF16 which we know comes out next month, MGS 3 which was just a reveal trailer and is cross platform, Dragons Dogma 2 no release date, AC Mirage not an exclusive, and Spiderman 2.

If this was a State of Play it's a 7/10 but it wasn't, it's a PlayStation Showcase.... 5/10 Jim Ryan needs to go.... I hope to god Microsoft go to town in June and make PlayStation look like fools... Most people i saw who complain about Spiderman 2 and share pictures taken with phones from tv and zoomed in are mainly Xbox dudes and pc players. It's kinda sad in what era we are currently in, hating on games and trying to create narratives. Many games suffered from this and i am kinda confused why this is happening.
Its a coping mechanism, they have too shit talk the games they cant own so they can deal with the pain of not being able to play them lol. Its like when a girl that they really like rejects them, they start calling her names to cope even do they really wanted the girl.

I don't t think the showcase was trash because there were definitely games that I was interested in. MGS remake, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Helldivers 2, Phantom Blade 0, Alane Wake 2 Spider-Man 2 and I'm interested to see what's Marathon's about, so the showcase wasn't all that bad. Now it's not the best showcase from Sony that I've seen, but it was still good.

I'm surprised there's any slight positive reception for this event to be honest, especially considering PlayStation's previous major event was the September 2021 showcase. I liked more than half of the games shown, but there were too few exclusives and too few actual gameplay. The best game shown was Alan Wake II at least for me, which is a multiplat. Feels like showcases overall fell off after COVID broke out. This would've easily been an 8/10 if this was an event like Summer Games Fest, The Game Awards, or Gamescom. The showcase was a 5.5/10. Very disappointing. I say all this as someone who prefers PlayStation.

Honestly I understand what your saying about graphics and I’m not complaining about graphics at all but I do feel like there could be one more big graphical leap with these games. I think lighting and some other visual tweaks will make games look better and not have to use some demanding features on these consoles. A lot of people that play 2k still to this day think that NBA2K14 looks better than NBA2K23 and it’s because of the lighting and they physics in the game that made it look mind blowing. So I think if these developers put more focus on the little details in the world and also maintain a good gameplay experience I truly think that graphics could have one more big leap💯

When PlayStation acquired Bungie, Bungie stipulated that they remain a multiplatform developer. Bungie only wanted to be acquired by PlayStation to expand to becoming a multimedia company. PlayStation gets them to consult on other in-development live-service projects. That's why Marathon is coming to Xbox and PC.
Ngl I did find Spider-Man’s visuals a bit underwhelming considering Ragnarok and Forbidden West both look a lot better and they’re both also on PS4 and Spider-Man 2 is supposed to be a PS5 exclusive.

Also gonna throw out there that I agree the swing animation for Symbiote Spiderman should be different i think (1) It should come from the top of his hand much like how the 90s cartoo. Symbyote Spiderman and Venom did it. And (2) I think he should thorw the web out almost like a punch animation it would look alot more forceful which is what we want. 😁
I just think if they didn't show anything, it's because it's either not ready to be shown or it's too far off. But I would have loved to see anything, even if it's just a teaser or some sort of news. I would at least like some concept or screenshots of factions while Neil explains how the game will be improved from the original.

Overall, I still liked the showcase. Ghostrunner 2, Revenant Hill, Sword of the Sea, and Plucky Squire all look like games that intrigued me and I’ll definitely pick them up.
Of course MGS3 remake and Spider-Man 2 were expected from me, and I liked them, but that Phantom Blade ø? I need that. Like, now.
Still, I cannot fault people for being so disappointed. No FF7 Rebirth, no Stellar Blade, no Pragmata, no nothing else.
Yeah that Spider-Man 2 gameplay was great and I’m excited for the story and characters in it. But it didn’t redeem the showcase at all I was so disappointed and will now never be hyped again for a showcase 4/10.
Look at the a.i for Spidey 2. They're just standing there. Probably a difficulty setting. Look at the overall graphics. Hardly different than Spidey 2018. Will probably look better in it's final form. Combat looked samey, a bunch of uncharted level qtes. We all know Spidey 2 is gonna be a good game. But after 5 years with no gameplay and this is what they show, how can you not be disappointed? Horizon 2 as bland as that game was, looked like it was running on a ps5

I think Geoff Keighley might've actually taken some stuff from this showcase lol cause lets not forget, Geoff was the one that got to show Last of us remake, tv show news, and the concept art reveal of their multiplayer game . I really think Sony is just giving everything naughty dog related to him lol and might end up being at Summer Games fest. Praying that Stellar Blade is somehow their too . Was shocked that both of em weren't there. Same with bluepoint, where in the hell did they go lol ?!?! I thought they were a definite studio to be there for an update on their next project. But i guess not lol. To me this wasn't a horrible showcase, but it definitely might be their weakest one by far. Re 4 remake in PSVR 2 looks incredible, i was shocked in seeing Dragon's Dogma 2 there, Arizona Sunshine 2 announcement for PSVR 2, that synse game or whatever its called for PSVR 2 lol (that Control looking game with shooting and telekinesis) crossfire Sierra Squad for PSVR 2 looks good. Phantom blade will most likely be a day one cop unless it turns out to be something totally different than it looks like lol it looked a bit sketchy. Not sure when it's releasing. Alan Wake 2 looks good but I'm pissed that for some reason Epic games decided to make it a digital only release game, which to me that is some bull$h!t lol as a physical collector. And of course the thing that gave it the highest part of the score Spiderman 2 lol Insomniac and Capcom usually come in to the save the day for them showcases or State of plays lol . I hope we get some other good things this summer announcement wise

I was actually surprised that they didn't show or tease anything to do with Santa Monica's new game, the one Cory Barlog's team is working on.
I'm sure they are worried other companies might copy their ideas and bring out a game with those mechanics , before they can bring out their game. 😛
I also, think that sony are more focused on showing their bigger games in 15 min state of plays. That might be their new way of showing stuff, maybe.🤔
