that extreme acceleration 0-45 mph in 1 second explains the huge bruise on my leg when a greyhound [a rescue dog] I was releasing off her lead used my legs as a starting block. the force of her accelaration knocked me backwards. These hounds are real Queens of Speed, even the slow ones are fast. A split second is what separates a champ from an 'also ~ran' but in pet terms they are all winners.
When I watched the Top Gear series as a little kid, this was my most favourite moment of the whole series. The music and everything just made it into a good spot in my heart.
I never enjoyed the mk3 if I am honest, my dad has a 2012 2.0 and it just doesn't feel like the old one, it just feels to built up, too much like a 'normal' car when compared to the NA and NB which both had that rattly go kart feel that made the 5 so famous. Not to mention the late model mk3s where pushing 1250kg over the NA/NBs ~1050kg
Clearly in the piece Hammond mentions that there is only a 10kg increase. However further research indicates that the last Mx5 NB 1.8i had an unladen weight of 1025kg and the newer NC 1.8i had an unladen weight of 1075kg and 1090kg for the 2.0i

In James May's Top Gear Special "Cars of the People" they use music from the 2002 Mafia game and that was a huge surprise to me. Someone somewhere in the Top Gear production team is a video game fan, and left us a trail of breadcrumbs for fans to find and I love that a lot.
My mother has done that twice, their names were Toby and Sunrise. Toby took years to rehabilitate so he wouldn't be nervous around people anymore, but Sunrise was sweet as pie the day she was picked up. In a neighborhood of golden retrievers and black labs, they stood out and turned heads when she would take them for walks.

The dog was cheating in this one... everybody knows legs are better than wheels. I am serious here. The ability to climb vertical surfaces? Try it with wheels... but also the grip you get on non-hardened surfaces. Shoulda put a hippo in there to make it even. The hippos weight woulda made it fair(ish) xD

None of the other dogs in the clips of the actual dog race had muzzles on either, so it's not like some safety requirement for the sport like shin guards for soccer/football. It just seems a cruel way to treat an animal without reason...

Yes and no. Greyhounds are sprinters. They can easily win a race like this, but they are not made for long-distance or endurance running. Short bursts of energy and then they are spent and have to rest- all day preferably on a comfy cushion.

Greyhounds have extraordinary lung capacity and high heart rate to oxygenate the muscles that the cheetah can't match. So if it's a race longer than than a quick rush, the "boom" is on you.
It comes stock with a soft top, which you have to fold down to fit the hardtop. You can, however, remove the soft top, and attach the hardtop permanently, Just a little fiberglass to do it, the hardtop is fiberglass. I have seen these on track. I used to own one, and what he says about 'Jinbattai', horse and rider in perfect harmony, is 100% true. You don't feel disconnected from the car at all. After driving it for about a week, you drive with instinct. The shift is short and 'notchy'.
Good lord the editing. Just show the damn car driving. We all get the idea that it's a race but what's the point of doing it if your gonna show 1 millisecond clips of it?

I for one love that you used the music from the Splinter Cell soundtrack By: Amon Tobin. Plus I have a 90 Miata MX-5 and I much prefer it to the newer MX-5's because its so much lighter and simple. Plus you can do a lot of customization to really take the car to the next level. But every time I pull up to a Mazda dealership they try to get me to buy a new MX-5.
It should be noted that you don't have to get the mentioned traction control to get other good stuff. Mine has the suspension package, LSD, and 6-speed manual with NO DSC. Owns.

I think the cheetah is also rear wheel drive but has high downforce which is why it can corner so fast
