@@katz734 Imagine being blind and deaf and living on the streets of Mexico. I got my dog from Paws Across Borders and Brian is deaf with no eyes. I gave my friend who has a rescue a blind adorable poodle mix pup from Mexico and a deaf dalmation pit bull. She has had zero interest on them in two years. People like them but when they find out more about them they are no interested. Beccas Babies in Florence Arizona has these two for adoption...Tina and Abby. Tina is blind and needs other dogs with her and Abby is best the only dog.

It just amazes me to see a dog that's been a stray on the streets... just trying to survive... who right away responds with tail wagging. You can tell Sunny is such a sweetie already! Thank you to the couple who saved him 1st... and thank you, Lee, for taking him in from them. The Asher House is the best! ❤️🐕❤️
This doggie wasn't on the streets. He was dumped out in commercial timberland off some logging roads. Some locals knew about a stray that was wandering in the woods, but nobody could get him because he didn't respond when they called, so they put dog food out on the side of the dirt road, hoping to help, and praying that nobody shot him.
This went on for about 6 weeks before we discovered him eating out of our compost pile. He had wandered out of the timberland and onto our property. It took my partner over a week to lure him close enough to the house so he could interact with him, and another week of feeding him to calm him enough to catch and take to the vet.
We knew he was hard of hearing because he was startled very easily if he didn't see us coming. The vet confirmed he was totally deaf. We spent a week trying to get him into a shelter or rescue, but it was very difficult (local laws, his deafness, and no history with other dogs) so The Asher House was our last hope. We were desperate!
Even though they were quite busy with new rescues, Lee stepped up to take this boy and give him his best life. We are so grateful to Lee and everyone a The Asher House for their love, compassion, and generosity. We're crying happy tears for the miracle of this rescue!

His name is Sonny, but you never know, Lee might change it, even though he won't be able to hear it or respond to it. I wonder if Lee will use hand signals with him. There's couple on YT that has a deaf dog and they use hand signals with him. He's pretty smart.

What a great couple, found a stray dog, took care of him, gave him a bath, fed him lots, took him to the vet and found a safe, loving place for him, need many more people like these in this world.
It is so heartwarming that the people who rescued him already made Sunny much healthier than his previous picture in such a short amount of time.

The person that bathed him and helped keep him out of the shelter is an angle that didn't show their wings. Thank Heavens the person gave this sweet dog to the sanctuary so even though the dog is deaf they can still have a good home and get the love that they deserve.😊

Sadly there’s just so many homeless and unwanted animals that shelters don’t have the time or space or money to keep them a long time. Spaying and neutering is so important.😢

He had bad digestive issued because he was eating garbage for weeks before we found him. Once Lee feeds him healthy food he'll feel - and smell - a lot better!

When approached, he was startled and tried to run away but he kept coming back because my partner would put bowls of food out in the woods, then come closer and closer to the house until he was feeding him in the garage.
We found a FB post from the mid-May that someone had made regarding seeing him off some logging roads, but nobody could catch him because he didn't respond to anyone's calls.
He was emaciated, filthy, and super quiet. He doesn't bark, whine, or growl. He did grunt out of fear once, but otherwise makes no sounds.
He allowed himself to be bathed and ate bowl after bowl after bowl of food, every day. That's all he wanted to do, eat and nap.

I loved it when Sunny turned over and showed you his tummy when you were kissing him. It just amazes me how affectionate the American pitbully breed is, and how quickly Sunny was ready to trust and show you affection. He is great with other dogs. Wow, it would take my dog a lot longer to acclimate to such a large pack, but Sunny just fit in straight away. It's wonderful how Calm your pack is Lee. I am just amazed!❤

Thank goodness for the kindness of others. They put some weight on that angel and got him medical attention. Couldn’t imagine being deaf and on the streets. The way he looks at you at the end and nuzzles up is priceless. Already knows he’s safe and home and going to live an amazing life! ❤️
