Uair a bhí me ag ligeann scíth
Rith smaoineamh liom
Mol an óige 's tiocfaidh sí
Mar is dual di
'S muid ag lorg ár n- áit
Dár dtír bheag álainn
In san domhan
Tá ár tseoid fhéin a'inn
Ach í a labhairt amach le cion
Ach dún do shúil(e) go ciúin
Agus samhlaigh
Go bhfuil sí fós a'inn inár gcroí(the)
'S bí brionglóid go suan
Agus cuimhnigh
Bhí sí linn ón gcéad lá riamh
Gabhadh muid ó neart go neart ar scáth a chéile
Gabhadh muid ó neart go neart ar scáth a chéile
Tá mo chroí dóchasach
Feicim fíor na spéire
Íomhá is deise liom
Éirigh na gréine
'S muid ag lorg ár n- áit
Dár dtír bheag álainn
In san domhan
Tá ár tseoid fhéin a'inn
Ach í a labhairt amach le cion
Déan do chuid fhéin ar a son

Gaelic is 5,000 years old! These videos are extraordinary and a legacy all Celts should love.
Erin and Alba Gu Braught!
I have no connection to Ireland or the Irish language whatsoever (I am a Polish guy living in Sweden) but I do love learning foreign languages. This is incredible and there are people outside of Ireland who enjoy Irish music and the Irish language.
Leszek, which means thank you.
absolute pain in the hole to learn though. Tá sé an-dheacair
OOOOOOOOO hi I was born in Poland but I have no memory of Poland and I live in Ireland since I was really small so I don't remember Poland (as I said) but I still speak Polish, Irish, English, a bit of Japanese, and some bit of German. man how do i get forced into these things. srsly i have to learn like french when i get older JUST TO STAY AT SCHOOL -_-
Try translate this- an bhfuil cead agam dul go dtí an leitras? 💚🗯🧡
Cool but there’s a lot of people inside Ireland who don’t enjoy the Irish language
Im from south africa and i speak afrikaans, To me this is like heaven on earth just to lie on my bed every day listing to 2 or 3 songs makes my just that much better. I wish i can speak Gaelic its one of the most beautiful languages in the world hope that this language does not die out. Keep it up guys we al love the song you do.
You should try learn it but once you start its like impossible to forget
Gaeilge
Lucky Zorua Just dialects of the same language. I have studied and continue to study both Irish Gaeilge and Scottish Gaidhlig.
that was beautiful
I speak Irish, I like to think there's 3 languages in the language itself, Aimsir Caite, Aimsir laithreach and Aimsir fhaistnach (past present and future) if you were learning Irish you should start with you basic details like your name. You can say:
Is mise Natasha or Natasha is ainm dom. (Mise-misha Ainm- anum Dom- dumb)
It's so ketchy I listen to it every day also I live in Ireland and irish such a easy language to learn
Irish Gaeilge is so beautiful. It warms my heart to see that young people are learning it again.
To forget our past is to doom our future. These wonderful young people are the future and it's Amazing!
Tá a fhois agam! 💚🗯🧡
Go n'éirí leat do aon duine ag foghlaim an Gaeilge.
Conas Atá sibh!!!!! Tá súil agam go bhfuil tú go maith! Beidh lá maith agat inniu! 💚🗯🧡
If we all had choices again we would send our kids to this school, not only for the joy the kids are showing but what they are learning about their language, country and each other..
This is kind of brilliant, I'm Portuguese, the Irish language is kind of a mystery to me although the six years I live in Ireland, But honestly I like the language and it's phonetics and this at all levels brilliant because it's all about the preservation of a culture and an identity. Congratulations, extremely deserved!
My teacher made my class sing this for at Patrick's day and I still remember I don't remember our Irish spellings but I do in songs 😂

GirlyDragons
I don't want to speak it (heard it's incredibly hard from everybody on this planet and I already have other languages I'm struggling with), but I really want to be able to SING it. Do you have any recommendations for places I could learn pronunciation? I keep getting songs stuck in my head and it's driving me nuts!

As a student in Ireland learning Irish it is a great language and everything but the way it is taught is wrong it makes you dislike the subject because the classes are so boring
***** May I ask where you come from?
That is actually really lucky because in school now I have to pick between French and German and I was wondering do you have any tips about the German language
Well do you know much of French that I could compare my questions to? if you don't it's fine
***** Well what would you consider to be the hardest hting to learn in German?
***** What level of difficulty would you say German is to learn
Is aoibheann liom!maith ar fad uirthi!

(And Yes I am Irish)
legend right here
when you want to listen to music but have got your Irish oral coming up
This is so good!
hopefully irish will someday be something all irish people can speak fluently :) it's a beautiful language and it's quite sad when you think about why it's not the first language of most irish people
all Irish people.
Bunny1412 it's because a while back the English took over Ireland and they outlawed all Irish culture
Its funny I'm Mexican, but part of my family came from Ireland, so my last name is O'Brien. And I met an English girl here once, and when she found out my family name she went out of her way to tell me that she didn't like the Irish because they blame the English for destoying their culture...
Bunny1412 Yes, but I think we need to move on from that. There is nothing stopping us rectifying that travesty, but people don't want to, evidently. Tá brón orm faoi sin ach go deimhin.
Bunny1412 sorry, I didn't know that? why?
aw seo go háillain. Rinnemear sa bhunscoil é. Iontach ar fad

Dia duit! 🇮🇪🇮🇪
American of Irish descent on both sides. Studied the language for two years. It was forbidden to speak by those that stole the land. It is a beautiful language and people.
I'm an American of Irish descent. None of my living relatives speak the language, so I'm learning it to pass on to my future children. It's a beautiful language, and I hate that my family left it behind when they came here.
Ok
É ótimo saber que as pessoas que não são da Irlanda apreciar a nossa língua e da nossa cultura.

I want them for my nation...so sad...me weeping much
BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wow amazing. I would love to have similar heritage, a language to call my own (apart from English) and keep alive.
Adopt a language! My family comes originally out of Ireland (hence why I'm here) but I only speak the basics. I have, however, adopted Latin as I think it'd be a shame if Latin died out. I know people call it a dead language, but that's not entirely fair. It's more like it's on life support with a heartbeat quieter than a feather landing on the surface of a pond.
But yeah, adopt a language! I suggest Latin but there are many options!
Ian Booton I adopted latin too
Find something else. Ta an Ghaeilge Marbh faoi Chre
I honestly cant wait to go get back to lurgan, I'm in this video and its such an amazing experience :)
I'm trying to learn the language and I'm hoping to be fluent in coming years even though it's not the most useful language in the US.
It is if u wanna confuse maccy Ds
I tryed it, their reaction is priceless!!
Bhí mé sa cursa seo agus bhí a lán craic agam. Bhí sé go hiontach cosúil le an t-amhrán seo :)
I'm Irish and really want to speak gaelic
***** Gaelige is "Gaelic" translated from Irish.
***** gaeilge*
Same!!
i am gaelic and i don't even speak it. :/ Damn America.
Iain Kerr
...what do you mean be being "gaelic" do you mean that you are Irish or....Welsh or well I guess that part doesnt mean a lot anyway.
But what did America do?
America as a whole nation seems to have little to do with you not knowing how to speak some form of gaelic. Tho I can see a correlation to England and a lack of people knowing langages like Irish.
I couldn't be prouder to be Irish. Ba maith liom gaelge sa scoile! ÉIREANN!!!
im asian but i go to an irish school and have to learn irish and irish is a beautiful
T amhran sinn go hintaoch
I'm so proud of these kids..
this language better than English and
beautiful
Not true.
Your so right, phonetically, poetically superior to English in every way, one of the worlds oldest most primitive languages. Proved by philologists to be at least as old as Sanskrit and in some cases older.
i know littel bit Sanskrit because my mother language is made from combination pali language and Sanskrit language
Sanskrit is a very beautiful ancient language also, in fact Irish Gaelic and Sanskrit are sister languages, coming originally from an antiquated aryan language.
Mahikantha boange there speaking irish
Great song
As an Irish person, Irish might sound Bueatiful but it's really hard to learn 😂😂😂
Kamy Katimater I know it might be she spelt the same but it could have a whole different meaning in Irish
isabelle ward true
isabelle ward I can agree fair plaid to them a its a hard subject in,school
I know I only like doing irish if we sang a fun song but any other time I hate learning irish
Isabelle ward are by any chance related to a girl called Aisling Ward
This is a great song

This is how you bring a language back to life!
Great song, but this language is so hard to learn. (Especially when forced to learn it)
Hammer... Echt wahnsinn!
So I decided to have a crack at translating the lyrics in the description because I'm attempting to teach myself some more Irish over the summer. Some of it may not be accurate but I had fun doing it anyways. It isn't just a matter of taking the English lyrics and translating it into Irish to make this song, I'd imagine that the lyrics would be changed to make the Irish version more appealing.
----Lyrics in English----
When I was relaxing,
A thought ran by me,
Praise the youth and she will bloom
As it befits her,
We're looking for our place,
For our lovely small country
In the world
Our own jewel is here
But she speaks out with offence
But close your eyes quietly,
And imagine
That she's still here in our heart{s}
She's a dream that slumbers
And remember
She was with us from the first day before
We seized from youth to maturity on the shadow together
We seized from youth to maturity on the shadow together
My heart's optimistic
I see a truth of the skies
A nicest image with me
A rise of the sun
We're looking for our place,
For our lovely small country
In the world
Our own jewel is here
But she speaks out with offence
Do your own for it
It's up to you and to me.
actually it's spelled Craic that's way Irish people spell it
Mary Halligan no, 'craic' is a homophone used in a different context referring to fun, in my syntax, 'crack' essentially means 'an attempt'.
+Jason I know but we do spell it "craic"
Mary Halligan that spelling forms a completely different word that would be incorrect in this syntax. craic means fun, it wouldn't be ''i decided to have a craic at...'' because it wouldn't make much sense taking into account the definition of the word. In my syntax, 'crack' is grammatically correct.
+Accur4te Sh4rpSh00ter 'craic' means Fun, to 'take a crack at something' is to attempt it.
Gaelige all the way!Great video,ar fheabhas!
GUYS THEIR IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GAEILIC AND GAEILGE TWO DIFFERENT LANGUAGES ONES SCOTTISH ONES IRISH
+Caoimhe Doran Noo Gaeilic is the sport and Gaeilge is the language if I'm correct? I'm not doubting you that's just what I assumed. :)
+Niamh Dixon Gaeilge is the Irish word for the Irish language. Gaelic is an English word meaning "of or pertaining to the Gaels". The sport you're thinking of is most likely Gaelic football.
+Caoimhe Doran Gaidhlig is the scots, as was pointed out below Gaelic is just the english word for things related to the Gaels, who were Irish.
THANK YOU Its soooooooo anoying how many people get that wrong😥😥
