I fished there when I was 12 fifty years ago. Great game uncle had a fish shanty with a small wood stove. We drove right to shanty, opened the holes with a spud, and fished with spoons with hooks soldered to them. He called them Russian spoons. We used wigglers and caught perch, seems like they would come and go. Nothing fancy just work and fishing. I’ll never forget that old IH truck must of been late fifties or early sixties, with dual wheels and chains in back. It also had plow, but no hydraulics. It had handle inside cab from roof pull down and hook it to lift plow.
The wrigglers seem like a great bait, I’ve never tried them before. In your opinion do you think you would have caught as many on shinners, wax worms, or just actively jigging lures? I’ve never seen wrigglers at any bait shops.
I found a spot in kempenfelt bay in Barrie Ontario that had ounce off record perch 35 feet was the magic depth All the fishi caught were stuffed with fresh water shrimp
Short answer: They may. The wigglers are natural forage and they have a ton of movement which I think is the trigger for the fish to hit it. But it’s worth a shot!
Sorry I lost all interest when I see you released that 1st fish. why would you even think of going ice fishing, all that effort to let go of a fish sorry buddy no respect. 99% Of us ice fisherman wouldn't even think of it, your probably a vegetarian just saying.
Hey bill are folks like you the reason most lakes have terrible numbers? Because you dont know when to keep or when to release to help the spawn of a lake?

Wigglers are a huge food source for the perch in this particular body of water. They do focus on other forage during different times however.

Awesome video, but I die a little bit every time you throw them back 😢
They don't all go back. That one swallowed it deep, your didn't see it go back cause the lure retrieval would have compromised it's health. Keeperrrr.
lookat dad ey lol
