Stop paving paradise, putting up parking lots!
Then the water can soak into the ground.
Flooding is going to get much worse in Houston the surrounding areas because they are pouring a gazillion tons of cement all over to ruin the place with more developments.
Exactly why it floods here. The ground is bizarre! I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere
Houston ain’t no paradise. lol.
Texas is caprock soil, water doesn't sink into it. Its basically like concrete under the surface soil.
Hey that was a great song!
Prayers for that family and all of Houston

Governor should not ask for federal aid…that would be hypocritical since he doesn’t want to ever comply with federal initiatives. Maybe he can just get a bucket and start bailing the water
Bingo!
Yep
💯
No federal aid- no federal taxes.
Very sad. Unfortunately it is the world we live in now. Be prepared!!!!
Where even is there? Not Houston inner loop. Must be in the suburbs because we barely had any rain and no flooding here in downtown
Channelview.
North of Houston, from the Beltawy 8 upto Huntsville, east to Louisiana, 3 millon people in the flood zone. 3 major rivers and 2 large lakes are at max capacity, and upto 4 to 6 more inches of rain coming Sunday.
The dams at lake Livingston and lake Conroe are releasing record amounts.
@@richardgeorge4171I noticed some of the homes were on stilts, why isn’t it mandatory to build all homes in stilts in these areas??

I lived in Baytown when I was 12 we lost everything in a flood, including my puppy who we put in the loft in the garage. He was gone when we came back hopefully, someone took him and rescued him.

Used car lots across the country are going to get a surge in inventory.
Still not fixed the number one cause of major floods for Houston , this sucks!
How does only 12 inches rain cause this?

Do these folks have flood insurance? 😢
Many cant have insurance, or they pay 2k a month for it. Freedumb to build where they choose, and pave over the wildflowers.

Texas Gulf Coast, Harris County always floods it's nothing new the news channel always go to the lowest areas AKA "the poor people of the city" and blow it out of proportion. Doesn't help that they have concreted over every inch they could in the last 35 years. Slow news day. Millions in the area still going about there daily lives.
So that's why Abbott is asking for federal emergency relief funds? Follow the money. Always a crisis in Texas
Watching from the safety of dry ground, it's hard to understand the loss. For what it's worth...my heart goes out to all affected...and I'll make a donation to Red Cross. 😢
Watch out for the alligators there! And mosquitoes are going to have a field day!

Flood-damaged vehicles are a brand new hazard for the unwary used car buyer; any flood-damaged car or truck/suv should be sent to the recycle center but instead they are being "refurbished" by unscrupulous dealers and offered for sale to the public. No sympathy here. Clearly they built in a floodplain.
Texas has too many sinners obviously
It’s crazy to see Americans living on stilts. WTF! 😂
But wise.
They know where they are building. They chose to build there and probably get refused home insurance. Often times you see flood signs with warnings that the water can get 4 ft high. That is an expected measure, these are crazier events.

Flood water from lake sent down us-59 to Houston ,

Because the dam was overcome... Very much climate change.

Cutting all the trees doesn't help the area 😞
I hope the government does something. I hope they fix dams, rivers create better drainage water collection whatever it takes, it wont save every house but might save a few. Cant stop climate change but you can maybe evolve a little in how we build houses dams etc to protect people in bad weather areas.

Indeed, there was a sign for ˹the tribe of˺ Sheba in their homeland: two orchards-one to the right and the other to the left. ˹They were told:˺ “Eat from the provision of your Lord, and be grateful to Him. ˹Yours is˺ a good land and a forgiving Lord.”But they turned away. So We sent against them a devastating flood, and replaced their orchards with two others producing bitter fruit, fruitless bushes,1 and a few ˹sparse˺ thorny trees. This is how We rewarded them for their ingratitude. Would We ever punish ˹anyone in such a way˺ except the ungrateful? Al Quran(sura saba 15-19)
