What a lovely reaction, beautiful lady.
All acoustic instruments and no auto-tune!
Sadly Judith Durham died last August at the age of 79. Unique voice
They'll never be a song like this again, its so natural and raw, beautiful

This is one of the most beautiful songs of all time.
    Lovely reaction. ✌️
“The Carnival is Over” has to be your next Seekers reaction.
    Thanks 🙏🏻

The Seekers came from Australia and went to London, toured the clubs and became No.1 on the hit parade. Judith Durham's voice is wonderful. She passed us by only a few months ago, and I did truly cry.

Number one with their first UK record release.
Have to be very good to achieve that.

This is a prime example of 60s folk/rock, and a beautiful song it is. This is from a long gone era when real people, with real talent, created real music while playing real instruments. And the music was fantastic. Want to hear an equally beautiful song from this same era? Check out "Both Sides Now" by Judy Collins. And make sure it's the original studio version and NOT live. You can thank me later. 😊

There is plenty of great music around today . But it is not in the mainstream eg Listen to London Grammar "what a day" , or "America ". Low = "Amethyst ". First Aid Kit " a long time ago "
The National "Oblivions " to name a few.

Judith was barely 20 when this was recorded in the Abbey Road Studio so pretty close to a teenager. Beautiful music.

The first time I heard this song, many years ago, it knocked my socks off. The Seekers did more than just a grand slam homer. They knocked the ball out of the ball park with this one.
Give a listen to other Seekers songs. Just about everything they have ever recorded can be found here on TH-cam. Enjoy! You will not be disappointed. As far as I can tell, they have never released a bad song.
Don't be surprised if you find yourself listening to their songs again, again, and again. There are few groups around that have the genuine talent that the Seekers display in each and every one of their songs.

Us Australians will always have fond memories of their music. Judith Durham (lead singer) had a very special and unique voice. Their songs were something to behold. Thank you Onyin for your reaction. Bless you. Elizabeth from Australia. My favourite song of theirs is 'We are Australian'. The best harmonies as you say.

Beautiful reaction. With the talent in the group, everything they put out is very nice. For me, the two songs by them that really stand-out are this one and "A World of Our Own".

I watched your reaction to “I am Australian” when they were old and loved you reaction. Even with all their wrinkles and grey hair they were exceptional musicians and BEAUTIFUL people and you saw that! I love this song from when they were young with Judith Durham and her 70’s dress and pigtails. She was such a class act! My mom used to sing this to me when I was young. It’s nice to see such grace and talent. They really were amazing! R.I.P. sweet Judith! 🙏

"Georgy Girl" was probably their other great hit, (here in the US) and well worth listening to. I'm glad that you love this fine song--this might be considered folk/pop music---as characterized by acoustic instruments and voices. Honest and true.

Lovely reaction dear lady. I respect your feelings for this clarion sound, beautiful voices, harmonies & precise guitar picking, especially on that Maton 12 string guitar. All Aussie talent, such a wonderful blend sounds recorded at the Abbey Road studios London. Thank you for your heartfelt genuine reaction.

Loved your reaction to a favourite group of mine. I first heard The Seekers on the radio that year and tell in love with their talents. Unfortunately, Judith died last August but there is a large catalogue of their music.

This song knocked the Beatles off the number one spot on the London charts. To do that in the mid 60s, you had to be incredibly good.

Judith's voice is very beautiful as well as her personality. The song tells us about not leaving someone's company without giving their name, however the song tells us that it tells us about the promised land and that it doesn't matter if she loses everything since what she cannot lose is who accompanies her. It refers to Jesus and some consider the song a gospel.

The only problem with this song ios there really isn't someone for all of us. Most of us never find another person to spend our life with. Unfortunately it just isn't presenting a realistic [life experience.

That's great too - but totally different to the Seekers. That's a good example of why it's pointless comparing!
(I see what you're getting at though: harmonies.)
