The first solicitor should quit the profession. What a disgrace. The prosecution are the ones who have to prove intent to steal or cause harm/injury and from the CCTV it was not clear whether he did intend to steal or not. You do realise ANYONE is entitled to a lawyer free of charge, known as a "duty solicitor"? Some people have their own lawyers they have used before, and ask for the same firm or the same named solicitor... some people don't, and just opt for the duty solicitor, which could be from any number of local law firms.

Can someone tell me what incentives the firm has to do good business for their clients? If it’s a flat fee as duty solicitor / legal aid then what incentive do they have? To be honest a lot of these people seem uncooperative and I can see there being a temptation to give up with them, but they’re still entitled to proper defence.
Reputation, solicitors get the vast majority of their custom from recommendations by previous clients, their reputations are everything to them. Ego is another big driver for them.

Am I the only person who thinks there should be a limit on how many times a person can claim legal aid? 22 times must have cost the taxpayer hundreds of thousands and without putting too fine a point on it, is taking the piss. OK, we all might face a situation where legal aid is helpful and even necessary . . . maybe some of us might face it a few times in our lives, but 22??? When you've been arrested and charged that many times I would cut taxpayer assistance - there are more deserving cases where truly vulnerable people could benefit from that money.

I agree with the situation regarding Tim near the end of this video where the lawyer says he needed treatment so he would not end up in jail again. To jail him forever long without treatment is nonsensical and this type of thing needs to end with courts. Heck I live in supposedly one of the better nations for healthcare and people just love Canada and I tell you our judicial system and our healthcare system is trash when you look at closely. I have asked for a group to help with a gambling issue in a city that has a racetrack which is now getting slots again and there also is a full fledged casino plus a bingo hall that has slots in it and there are no Gamblers Anonymous groups around here and there is just one person to pick at our local hospital to help with the issue and when I got ill her office and herself forgot all about me. They never contacted me again about an appointment or to just check in and see how I was doing. Anyway hopefully this Tim sorted out his life and in my 47th year I hope I sort mine out too but it would be nice if healthcare was made better for all around the world to nip bad habits / behaviors in the bud before they get out of hand.

Everyone knows the link between heart disease and poor oral care. In the US our poor get free dental work through medicaid and CHIP. Is it not possible to decline a police interview in England? I ask because at one point in this video a lawyer practices with her client by asking him questions and having him respond, "No comment." It seems to me it would be far easier to just decline the interview.
I'm not too sure if you can or cant. But by going "no commet" has its disadvantages and advantages. Disadvantages of " no comment " would be blatantly telling the police you are guilty in someway, either directly or indirectly. Cos anyone who is completely innocent would say " well I was here and so on " cos you have nothing to hide. Its advantages are you can hear what type of evidence the police have against you and it helps you not mess up. Cos if you try to lie on the spot the police might ask you have you ever been to " tescos in Dover before"? Cos ur being asked things on the spot you might say no and they got you on cctv . Which now proves ur a lier and why would you lie unless ur hiding guilt. So now when going to court it's harder to convince the jury and and so on. So no comment can help you judge what type of evidence they have. Sometimes they have no evidence, but because you have messed up so much in the interview they charge you after. And sometimes they let you go after u do no comment cos no evidence and you haven't been caught out lying so it's hard to pin it on you.
I'll give you a tip regarding Identification Parades . You can actually take your own stooges to stand in the line up . They won't get the police appearance money . Handy if you have brothers , cousins or friends that resemble you . It can put a lot of doubt in the eye witnesse's recollection .

1st 10:00: I forgot the name of the guy that entered that jewelry store but he should’ve never entered that shop knowing it was robbed. Him just walking around in that shop even though he did not touch anything allegedly still put him down as an accessory to the crime.
Well- he was acquitted so obviously not in this case. I think there was an element of malicious prosecution as so many rioters/ thieves were never brought to justice.

For smaller crimes I do actually believe that they should go hard on their community service and no criminal record to begin with that would be much better for society than paying to keep people in jail And actually give them a chance when they come out not to repeat out of desperation. Someone who goes in on something minor like drug crimes coming out with a criminal record and no extra qualifications plus having missed advancements in society like computers is just going to return to the same life purely out of desperation most likely.

What gets me is whenever I’ve been slapped around literally or verbally, abused or threatened. I’ve never called the police on a partner. But I’ve literally had them call the police on me simply because I didn’t want to hand them my phone when I was sending a text message.

Because whether you are innocent or guilty, especially innocent, NEVER answer police questions without your solictor/attorney present. Innocent people have been convicted for speaking. Whatever you say can and will be framed and twisted to jam you up.

I agree with the situation regarding Tim near the end of this video where the lawyer says he needed treatment so he would not end up in jail again. To jail him forever long without treatment is nonsensical and this type of thing needs to end with courts. Heck I live in supposedly one of the better nations for healthcare and people just love Canada and I tell you our judicial system and our healthcare system is trash when you look at closely. I have asked for a group to help with a gambling issue in a city that has a racetrack which is now getting slots again and there also is a full fledged casino plus a bingo hall that has slots in it and there are no Gamblers Anonymous groups around here and there is just one person to pick at our local hospital to help with the issue and when I got ill her office and herself forgot all about me. They never contacted me again about an appointment or to just check in and see how I was doing. Anyway hopefully this Tim sorted out his life and in my 47th year I hope I sort mine out too but it would be nice if healthcare was made better for all around the world to nip bad habits / behaviors in the bud before they get out of hand.

When I say personal responsibility, I don't mean try to kick the addictions on your own. Of course you need professional help! And I agree with the point that it would be great if there were better access to mental healthcare worldwide. But there needs to be personal responsibility in that you will seek out the help and apply the lessons. Self help groups, most Anonymous groups also have online meetings BTW, working extra hours to pay for private therapy if you can't get on the waitlist for counselling via your GP, etc.

Question, and I am being serious here not trying to be funny or snarky. Why do all the lower middle class to poor have bad teeth in the UK when they have the NHS? Everyone knows the link between heart disease and poor oral care. In the US our poor get free dental work through medicaid and CHIP. Hope you read this in the spirit it was written as it is heartbreaking to see so many young people with serious dental issues.

I'm not too sure if you can or cant. But by going "no commet" has its disadvantages and advantages. Disadvantages of " no comment " would be blatantly telling the police you are guilty in someway, either directly or indirectly. Cos anyone who is completely innocent would say " well I was here and so on " cos you have nothing to hide. Its advantages are you can hear what type of evidence the police have against you and it helps you not mess up. Cos if you try to lie on the spot the police might ask you have you ever been to " tescos in Dover before"? Cos ur being asked things on the spot you might say no and they got you on cctv . Which now proves ur a lier and why would you lie unless ur hiding guilt. So now when going to court it's harder to convince the jury and and so on. So no comment can help you judge what type of evidence they have. Sometimes they have no evidence, but because you have messed up so much in the interview they charge you after. And sometimes they let you go after u do no comment cos no evidence and you haven't been caught out lying so it's hard to pin it on you.
