Thanks and thanks for watching! One of the intents of my channel is to try to show other ways to use vinyl for projects, just like this! Thanks again for watching!
Just engraved my 1st one today. Than i got to thinking there has to be a faster way..lol..Thanks for the video..This will also save on the wear and tear that engraving probably does to our machines :)
Sorry for the late reply. I've long since traded in the car that these were on. But they were still fine when I traded it in, and by that point, the struts had been on for at least 2 years, if I recall correctly.
I just finished 2 for my husband’s surprise 50th birthday and one for my daughter’s hair business. You do not know how appreciative I am. The only difference is I used Etched Adhesive opposed to white vinyl. I’m doing one for my friend’s daughter’s graduation party. This right here is definitely a game changer because I was seriously trying to etch these on my Cricut. 😩😩😩
@arleneaugustahair8393 -- It's a year later so don't know if you'll even see this, but after reading your comment I decided to order etching vinyl and try it your way and I'm also putting it on the backside of the acrylic as suggested in the video so it shows up well. Did yours turn out great with the etching vinyl? I hope so because I'm getting into a time crunch for Christmas. YIKES!!! 😂😂
This is brilliant. I wanted to make a FORNITE sign and was trying to use glow in the dark vinyl. But I think this is a better idea. Trouble is I dont know which design would look the best. Could you give me some help please.
Hi! I couldn’t find the links that you said to go to for the vinyl, transfer tape, and the acrylic squares on Amazon. Can you please Post on here the links to Amazon again? Thank you so much! I absolutely loved your video and it was so helpful.
I'm not sure actually. I would say maybe to use a very light color and perhaps reflective paint so when the lighting of the LED hits the images it shows up well.
I tried this with a frosted vinyl, and it didn't work well. The tiny voids from dust particles and little air bubbles were too visible, and it didn't pick up the LED light very well. Oh, and I also tried to make a sort-of outline effect using clear vinyl, but it had the same issues. I'll have to try this with white vinyl!
Thanks and thanks for watching. Here's a link to the base that I used: amzn.to/2RecFDJ I have links in the description as well for the other tools and supplies I used for this project as well. Cheers!
No, but white, I found, gives the best/brightest look like it’s etched. Other colors don’t “light up” like the white does, especially If the LED light is the same color as the vinyl.
Great video tutorial! Thank you 😊
@@karenbonnetti-ramirez6264 thanks and thanks for watching!
Easy to understand.. thank you for great effort
Thanks for watching!! Much appreciated!
Thanks for the video tutorial, I didn't know that you can use vinyl to do this project, so glad to have bumped into your channel....❤️

Thanks for watching! I'm glad it was of some help. Which etched adhesive did you use? I'll have to give it a try 😊

Thank you and thanks for watching! Really, that's a matter of personal taste.
OMG! Thank you so much! I have been trying to figure this out and I was going to try it but you did it already.
Thanks for watching! Glad this was helpful!
Love the video. But my question is how do I add a picture can that be done?
Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for watching. I'm not sure about your question on adding a picture. Are you meaning an actual print picture?
Thanks man! Your videos are really informational and you are really underrated! Keep up the good work 😁👍
Thanks for watching and thanks for the kind words!!

Would the effect still be the same if the back was covered with another color?
You know, I'm not sure? I "think" it would be the same, but I don't know, but I haven't tried it.
Have you ever tried the forsted vinyl for this
Oh...no, I haven't but now I'm interested :-)
Would this work with painting it? Thinking of doing a workshop and if they can paint the stencil that would work best.
I'm not sure actually. I would say maybe to use a very light color and perhaps reflective paint so when the lighting of the LED hits the images it shows up well.
Will any white vinyl work? (I’m in the uk)
I would think so, as long as the adhesive is clear and not a different color. That way the white vinyl shows through on both sides.

I'll have to try this with white vinyl!
I've tried with a silver vinyl and it was ok, but white definitely works best
May I know what type of vinyl that u use, glossy, Matt or any other type
I used Oracal 651 gloss white. All the links for the items I used in this project are in the description as well. Thanks!
Thank you! Where did you happen to get the base of the light?
Thanks and thanks for watching. Here's a link to the base that I used: amzn.to/2RecFDJ

Which Software Do I need to do this? Thanks
I used Silhouette Design Studio for my Cameo 3.
where can I get bases
Hi thanks for watching. I have some links in the description to get the supplies used in the video.
Which Blade do i need to do this?
If I remember right, I just used my Autoblade with the stock settings for glossy vinyl.
Will the vinyl peel if washed
I don't know for certain as I've never had to wash it.
Can you use any white permanent vinyl
Generally yes, but ensure the adhesive is clear and not a different color than the vinyl
@@ColorChangeCustoms thank you for replying
Great video. where did you find that svg file? Thanks, keep making great videos!
Thanks and thanks for watching! Honestly, I just googled Hogwarts crest and found the image, then traced it in silhouette studio.
So I’m on the right track, that’s what I usually do for most designs as well. Thanks again!
@@matthawlemusvr6420 sure thing! Thank you again for watching!
what side of the vinyl goes down on the mat?
It’s regular vinyl.
What type of vinyl is this?
Oracal 651, gloss white
Has any one used a silver? Does it work?
I used silver for a Mandalorian themed one. It works ok, but white definitely works better.
Do the vinyl have to be white?
No, but white, I found, gives the best/brightest look like it’s etched. Other colors don’t “light up” like the white does, especially If the LED light is the same color as the vinyl.
