I'm hoping to run this chronicle as the Storyteller at some point. One weak point I have seen straight away though is the characters motivation at the beginning. It's a bit like that old Star Trek episode where they wake up with their memories wiped and are told they are on a secret mission to blow up an enemy base. They equate it to being given a loaded gun and pushed into a darkened room with orders to kill whoever is in there. If I was playing I'd be immediately suspicious of this - until they are sure who they are and what is going on why would they follow instructions given to them in a written letter by a complete stranger?

Thank you for the awesome videos! I'm about to start a game as the storyteller. My 4 players are creating original characters but still sticking with the memory loss mechanic. I've heard from several sources that it's best to use the premade characters, but I think my players original characters will work well enough. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Had our first go a few weeks ago after a 20 year break , so much fun and went on for 5 hours , using a Taser hidden in a pizza box is never not going to be funny

Me and my friends are planning on starting this. I'll be a player and my friend, who is running it hasn't told me much about it so far. However, we were all planing on making original characters and are excited about using character creation, since making up characters has always been a major part of how/why our group likes to play table top role-play games. After watching your review, however, I'm a little worried we might have trouble getting through the story, or enjoying it, since we'll not be using the pre-gens, and aren't really a group who like pre-gens or "discovering" our own characters. Personally, I know I've never liked being told my own backstory, as writing my backstory is a favorite part of playing a game. Do you think I should try to recommend that my friend look for a different module that is better suited to playing original characters?

@@SummonedStories Thank you very much for the reply and advise. I'll discuss what I've learned with out group and Storyteller and see what we want to do. I'll also look up Chicago by Night and see if that seems like something that would be more up out ally.

@@SummonedStories Sure, they are experienced role-players so I think it should go fine.

@@SummonedStories It went really well. The characters made it out of the warehouse 'alive' and spend an uncomfortable day in the hotel room ensuite bath of a Premier Inn. The next evening they attended Queen Anne's party at the Shard and the ended the session just as they met Queen Anne.
I let the players make their own characters and have adapted the story line to suit. One thing did turn out to be interesting. One the characters (a Tremere) has an aversion to running water so he took a tube to London Bridge (buying an Oyster card was funny). He discovered the effects of de Wordes ritual when the lost a blood point on his little trip under the river :)
