    The ignorance and lack of empathy on this post is stunning. It is so sad to see this, and I hope all families are safe and sound. Hopefully, there will be little to no damage caused by this storm to these poor families. 🙏🙏🙏

    The joys of lake front property. I've lived on Lake Erie for over 30 years and have seen this scenario many times. Never a problem with my basement

      @@skyecloud968 - A lot are not Canadian but US summer residents. They're also not from the area and totally ignorant of what the lake can do and has done in the past for decades. BTW, the same happened in New York state to homeowners on Lake Erie there. Not the brightest in both cases. The developers don't care. They got their $$$ from the suckers and buggered off.

    those houses are where the Comet Roller coaster was on the breakwall... build houses that close to the water, and this is what you get.... not too bright, and i'm sure the houses aren't engineered to carry all the weight of that ice....

      The waterfront was ruined by this gated community that only wealthy people (not native to the area) could afford. It destroyed a century of history, changed the atmosphere of the town and usurped the lake shore from the public. They should have known this would happen and it will happen again. The developers made their money and rich snobs bought homes in a place prone to storms. The area should have been left as a public park. My sympathy is limited.

    The solution is to put a layer of plastic in the front of the houses, and when the ice forms, they remove it easily.

    They're in the same category as those who build on a flood plain. What do you expect? You're at the northeast end of a Great Lake that predictably and predominantly has storms that travel west-to-east. Happens every year. No sympathy.

    • @susieq9801
      @susieq9801 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is global warming. The Great Lakes aren't freezing like they did in the past and the winds pick up the moisture and dump it. The decrease in lake ice has been documented for the past several decades.
