If Motera test match was not a good contest between bat and ball and a poor advertisement for test cricket, this test match should be an epitome of that
This was a balanced game as both teams scored between 200-300 in first innings but got blown away in 2nd. Not extravagant movement just enough, not so much the pitch but also over head conditions, very similar to when India decimated England at lords last time out...
Any pitch where part time Root can get 5-8 against a good batting line up must not be ideal...even many Indian player have said so
If the pitch was as bad as what you are saying, India would have lost at least a wicket chasing the target in 4th innings. I think batting performance was sub-par from both the sides. The pink ball did a lot more than what the pitch did. The ball turned occasionally but it was a lot lesser than the 2nd test in which India scored 600 runs. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. England team's batting coach himself said that they cannot blame the wicket for England's failure in pink ball test.
@@sainikhildondapati7838 a good pitch would offer something to everyone, to begin with a bit of pace and bounce to the quicker bowlers, even bounce for the batsmen to play shots and as game goes on spinners come into it. This pitch had no pace & uneven bounce from the start & spinning too.
When you play in England you expect seam & swing, in Australia bounce and in subcontinent you expect spin, but this was extreme & a poor pitch. If a first class game finished in two days they would have a pitch inspector visiting them, no matter how poorly the teams played. India played better & deserved to win, England poorly & India chased total easily but that doesn’t mean it’s a good pitch. When you’ve got players such as Yuvraj critical then it shows it’s pretty bad.
Test cricket should be a contest between bat & ball. Whether that’s in England in early season or in india. Pitches such as this or roads where both teams get 600 are a poor advert for the game.
Would this game have been played on pitch like this if SL & Muttiah were the opponents? Of course not, india have produced a pitch that suits them & gives them best chance of winning & I’m surprised more teams don’t do it more often
@@markpalmer7215 I think England does prepare pitches that suit them very well. There were matches in England in which Adil Rashid hardly got any overs to bowl. Ishant sharma did get a wicket on day 1. Ollie Pope dropped Kohli's catch against Anderson's bowling. Jofra Archer got a wicket because the ball bounced a bit more than what was expected by Gill. Honestly it's not fair to say that the pitch didn't offer anything to fast bowlers. Virat kohli asked Axar Patel to bowl every other over in the third innings because clearly English batsmen were struggling against left arm spinners. Zak crawley got out 6/6 times to left arm spinners. If you look at the Indian team selection, a left arm spinner was there in all three test matches. Virat Kohli said this many times in press conference. Axar Patel did nothing other than making the batsmen play by bowling straight balls wicket to wicket. When you are quoting Yuvaraj, keep in mind that everyone has their own opinion. That doesn't mean the facts change. If the pitch was poor, 21 wickets wouldn't have come from straight deliveries.

I have loved cricket ever since I was a kid, and loved playing for the school 2nd XI and 1st XI (which I eventually captained), then my works team, my village team and even my pub team. But in the 70s, 80s and early 90s, England seemed always to manage to balls-up a commanding position. Either they would fail to chase the runs down or bowl out the lower order, or they'd start out batting strong and then crumble within a few overs. In the newspapers, "England spectacular..."headlines would often be followed by "collapse".
What a transformation! Now I expect an England XI to bowl out the opposition or hunt down the necessary runs, and am bitterly disappointed when they don't. They are the #1 ODI team in the world, #4 Test team (my favourite format, so I hope they fix their aim on that next) and #3 in T20 (which doesn't interest me). They make their catches, get the tail to wag as other countries used to do to us, and there is young, up-and-coming talent like Jofra Archer, Jack Leach, Joe Denly and Jason Roy (what's with all the J's?) for when Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Moeen Ali have to hang up their boots. The future seems bright for the England team.

Swing and turn are two different aspects ... You cannot merge both of them in a single plate. Swing usually happens when the weather conditions is windy. ... For that you can't blame the pitch. But in the case of turn, most of the times it is due to the unevenness of the pitch. for this reason, anyone can blame the pitch ... 🚫🌹
