An ex street hustler turned businees Man named J Prince sought them out and told them he wanted them to join forces and become a Group. Bushwick Bill was a dancer and Willie D wrote a rap for him and told him to spit it. and then he became the 3rd member of the Group. Willie D and Bushwick never got along and always fought and argued . Bushwick recently died and never really patched things up. The history of "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" is this is actually a Scarface song. He wrote it about his own paranoia. Back then, he suffered from manic depression (for real) so this song represented what he felt at the time. Scarface wrote the whole song except for Willie D's verse. But it was released as a Geto Boys song. That's why Scarface has 2 verses (1st and 3rd) and Bushwick's verse was also written by Scarface but performed by Bushwick Bill. Nobody writes for Willie D except Willie so verse 3 was all him. The result is one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time - especially when played near or on Halloween. :)

You have great energy! This is definetly a hiphop classic, top 20 in my opinion. The whole song is about the mental stress, depression and paranoia that can come from being a drug dealing gangster (hence discouraging it). In that life you constantly have to worry about dangerous rivals, enemies, and police all coming after you, you become paranoid, not knowing who to trust, you become suspicious of everyone around you, and worry that every stranger you see, every shadow, might be someone coming to kill you. The last verse is about having full blown hallucinations, the guy he thought he was beating up wasn't real, he was beating the concrete, his friends weren't really there, and it wasn't even close to Halloween, it was all his mind playing tricks on him. 😄 For some more light-hearted music from Scarface, check out "My Block".

What I love about Scarface's verse is that he leaves room for artistic interpretation but obviously he is a man of conscious and his lifestyle is taking a toll on him mentally.
Me and my boys used to do a thing out of boredom where we would apply pressure to the neck and pass each other out. Basically we would be cutting off blood flow to the brain until passing out. That shit about beating on the concrete hits home. I did that while unconscious. Great reaction video to one of the greatest rap groups which is written and performed by one of the greatest rappers ever! The history of "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" is this is actually a Scarface song. He wrote it about his own paranoia. Back then, he suffered from manic depression (for real) so this song represented what he felt at the time. Scarface wrote the whole song except for Willie D's verse. But it was released as a Geto Boys song. That's why Scarface has 2 verses (1st and 3rd) and Bushwick's verse was also written by Scarface but performed by Bushwick Bill. Nobody writes for Willie D except Willie so verse 3 was all him. The result is one of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time - especially when played near or on Halloween. :)

You have great energy! This is definetly a hiphop classic, top 20 in my opinion. The whole song is about the mental stress, depression and paranoia that can come from being a drug dealing gangster (hence discouraging it). In that life you constantly have to worry about dangerous rivals, enemies, and police all coming after you, you become paranoid, not knowing who to trust, you become suspicious of everyone around you, and worry that every stranger you see, every shadow, might be someone coming to kill you. The last verse is about having full blown hallucinations, the guy he thought he was beating up wasn't real, he was beating the concrete, his friends weren't really there, and it wasn't even close to Halloween, it was all his mind playing tricks on him. 😄
