    Honestly, there is nothing particularly remarkable about my country being the newest nation on Earth. However, I hope that in the next two decades, there will be significant advancements in infrastructure development. It is disheartening to witness individuals who mock our nation without understanding the significance of our fight for independence. Any way thanks for sharing this video.

    20:24 Waw the price so expensive for me even on the road side... In Indonesia example we can eat fried rice or nasi goreng just between Rp 12.000 - Rp 18.000... If we eat nasi goreng kambing or goat fried rice maybe > Rp 20.000... Not include mineral water or even ice tea...
    US$ 1 = Rp 14.000...

      You are welcome to live in Timor-Leste! There are a handful of Arabs who have been living here for centuries. In fact, Timor-Leste's first Prime Minister after the restoration of independence in 2002 was a Muslim and an Arab-Timorese whose last name was Alkatiri.

    • @JesselynLr
      @JesselynLr 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, I will answer your question, and after that you can think for yourself, I visited Dili last October for 2 weeks. and living in a country definitely has its ups and downs, right?
      --I like the nature of Dili, the beaches are really beautiful, the local people are friendly and the country hasn't developed much.
      --Hotels in Dili cannot be booked via OTA (online travel agent). You can only make a reservation via their website (if there is a website), and payment can only be done directly at check-in.
      --Dili is a country that is still traditional, while other countries already have technology/e-commerce that is capable of making transactions easier and easier to order something, Dili doesn't have that, there is only 1 e-commerce called Halo Dili, even though it's not complete, delivery takes 1 hours or even later, you only order 1 portion of food even though it is close to where you live😁
      --if you want fast transportation, it's still hard to get because their only transportation is taxi (they will add more passengers if the passengers route is the same as yours), and there are microbuses (this is the same system like taxi, but with more passengers. they will stop to get passengers and drop them off at their respective destinations if you are in a hurry this is not an alternative) so it is better to rent a motorbike/car even if it is expensive at least it is a little comfortable.
      --Dili is really expensive, even if you save money it won't seem like enough lol.
      -- Mastercard cannot be accessed so you have to bring lots of cash, as well as applications like Disney+ or HBO GO not available in Timor Leste, Netflix is available but if your signal is good you're lucky.

    Hopefully, timor leste develops faster and becomes close and potential partners for Indonesia in developing regional economies for mutual prosperity in the future. Timor leste will be able to improve their economies if the government can minimize corruption and establish a profer national policy for domestic stability. Don't build unnecessary infrastructure for foreign investors before the people suffice the basic needs, such as food, health, housing, etc

    Tetun is similar to Indonesian languages from the surrounding area, West Timor and East Nusa Tenggara, mixed with Portuguese as you said but it's not related to Bahasa Indonesia. Bahasa Indonesia is actually Malay, Malay grew to prominance in the region with the Muslim Malaccan Sultanate. The Dutch decided to establish it as the national language of Indonesia, instead of Dutch because it had already been a language of trade and prestige in the region even before the Dutch colonial era. One decision otherwise and the entire country of Indonesia right now would be speaking Dutch as the national language!

    After Timor Leste (Timor Timur/East Timor) got their independence from Indonesia. We all happy here (especially traders and businessmen) 😁 because they use US Dollar as National Currency. So we can export our product to TL and earn a lot of money. Thats why there are many Indonesian and Chinese in Dili. And majority of staple food needs in TL are supplied from Indonesia. Such as cooking oil, Gasoline, sugar, snack, noodles, soap, everything. Also Telkomcel the best provider in TL owned by Indonesian national company. And also in Finance sector Indonesia take a huge role in TL. Many Indonensian state owned company playing huge role in TL. Yeah as you know, we Indonesia have a long history with TL. this is not an obstacle for us to work together and develop together. And now, Indonesia become a main sponsor for TL to join ASEAN.
    We hope, with your vlog. Everyone will know more about Timor Leste and visit the country. I'm as Indonesian hopes they get a better life and economic development through tourism and make this area more prosperous ❤
    If you want to enjoy the "Timor Vibes" with more affordable price, better infrastructure, relatively stable society, more vibrant environment, you can explore the Entire Nusa Tenggara Timur province, you can visit Kupang, Labuang Bajo, Komodo Dragon Area, some beaches etc. But I also happy if you visit our neighbouring too ❤

      @TheBackpacksters  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow Muhammad! Thanks for sharing the Indonesian perspective - really liked it when you mentioned all the things Indonesia is doing for TL and hopefully both economies benefit in the future from each other's support! We definitely want to visit ENT region - especially to see the Komodos! We also liked Kupand (we made a few vlogs there too before coming here to Dili) 🤓
