31:25 Since you thought the only international flight was from Australia and you knew that the Indonesian part of Timor is heavily Catholic, I assumed that you went into East Timor from West Timor (Indonesia), right? Then you should’ve noticed that the two (East and West Timorese) do share a lot in terms of culture, linguistics, ethnicity, and history. In fact, most native speakers of Tetun can be found in Indonesia, not Timor-Leste. So it’s not true that they’re distinct from the rest of the region, when Indonesia itself is so diverse and includes various ethnicities. I'm learning so much about the real state of the world from your podcasts. You are doing a great job 👍
11:44 😂 That guy just can't help but laugh at your predicament. He probably can't believe it. Always enjoy the travels. Favorite is the Moroccan hike when it was very hot and you found that field.
Thank you for promoting and sharing your interesting experience of my beloved country. Thanks again for visiting my country and be the inspiration for many others of western countries. Vamos 😊
As a Portuguese i remember well the time Timorese people faught for theyr freedom and independence. Now Timor is independent and free and although has a long way to go they done a great progress to theyr country. I wishthe best for all my timorese and indonesian friends, great people, humble and caring. Dont stop fighting for your freedom and the next generations. God want you brothers make your way hand by hand.
Thank you for your support 🙏🏼🥰
what i like with your content is very informative. continue your journey to world of unknown countries.
Thank you for sharing. My husband was there during the voting for independent period 1999. I arranged tickets for people from all over US, tried to get to Dili to witness that moment! was very challenging to get there. was nerve racking time to be honest.
So nice to see the beautiful country.
weird fettish.
@@rizkyadiyanto7922 there were many independent activists groups all over in the US and Europe around that time many Timorese lived/ live in overseas too.
@@englishcreativetips what did your husband went for there? Was he in the Military
Thank you for sharing this. Really eye opening!
That small concrete bridge you walked over is a called the Pig Bridge and those trees along the waterfront used to full of rather nasty monkeys. I spent a few eclipses in Timor and the locals, who have firm animist beliefs alongside Catholicism are very superstitious. Eclipses used to bring about banging on metal power poles, belting of dogs and any other way that was practicable to make enough noise to scare the moon/sun back to shining down on Timor Leste.
Pretty cool video and insights bro! I am going there in three days and I get the drift thanks to you!
This guy is an absoloute polyglot. Love his footage!! ❤
A world of thanks to you for your posts, all ever so interesting. Between watching you and Jeopardy! [game show], I learn fun facts to know and tell. I wish you the best.
Wonderful place and even nicer people. So beautiful. Thx for sharing.
Finding a Ghanaian on a random beach in Timor Leste & casually letting us know they have the worst football team in the world 😭, this is why I love this channel
Ghanan sounds better.
You have one of the most interesting channels on TH-cam!
The Portuguese colonised Brazil.
Is the statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro a copy of the one in Lisbon, or vise versa?
The one in Dilly must surely be based on the Lisbon statue.
Can anyone comment on this?
Excellent, thanks for the video.
iam very surprised this is asian country but i find so many portugueses words on the video that my mind is exploding!!! great video.
, Thanks for your travel videos, you are the very definition of the intrepid traveller
How do you travel without a Visa card? Seriously, after following your videos from the start that is the most surprising thing I've seen.
Yeah but he's got the American Express 💳
but he won't say it ..
Visa is 10 more accepted than Mastercard. But anyway. Timor. I won’t be visiting
@@deanl0 So do they accept American Express or only Visa?
@@toniwertman4818 I had no idea Visa was more accepted than MasterCard. I thought they were equally accepted (if credit cards were accepted at all). I thought it was American Express or discover card had the limitations
Maaan that's nice,great Job Sabbatical
Love that ending! 🌅
Thanks 4 sharing my new country to the other people
God blessed You
The current FIFA world ranking as of Apr 6th 2023 East Timor is at 196 of 211 countries. So it's definitely not the worst.
Those Ghanians putting in work
My beautiful country East Timor 🇹🇱. Thanks for you👍
Australia screwed ET out of billions in oil revenue ,that's probably why not many tourists from Australia go there. The Indonesia govt was in league with the US to exploit them too
