  • Enjoyed with a cup of hot tea, this Rava Sheera (or Sheero) makes for a satisfying sweet snack. It keeps the quantity of ghee (or else, hydrogenated vegetable oil) within moderation and, also, it isn't overly sweet. It is pleasure without the worry of guilt.
    Thanks for watching this video; as always, every bit of your support, through your comments, likes and shares, is much appreciated! God Bless You :)
    Ingredients (Depending on the extent of one's appetite, this recipe could serve 2-4):
    2 tablespoons Ghee/Vanaspati (1 at the start, 1 at the end)
    10-12 Chopped Cashew nuts (or nuts of choice)
    1/2 cup Semolina (rava/sooji)
    1 & 1/2 cups Water
    1 Tablespoon Oil
    A drop of food colouring (Optional)
    1/2 cup Sugar
    A pinch of Salt
    1/2 teaspoon Cardamom powder
    Raisins, as required
    Chopped nuts and dried fruits for garnish
    Ratio of Rava: Sugar : Water=1:1:3
    PS : This is a re-uploaded video; there were necessary changes to be done. Thanks again!

    Quick question...is it “Goan Sheera” because a Goan person is making it? Or is this the type of Sheera that you can get only in Goa? I’ve had Sheera in Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, Bombay, Hyderabad and it looked similar to the one in the video, so I was curious as to why this was called “Goan Sheera”...

    • @FlorencyDias
      @FlorencyDias  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for you question, Seycas :)
      There are countless dishes across this country that each state calls its own, but are quite similar in many ways. The Goan Pinagr and Goan Soji are examples (there are other identical south-indian recipes, you may know). The Sheera (known in Goa as ‘Sheero’) is another on the list, and it does have its own uniqueness. Sheera, commonly would be a considered a dessert, heavy with ghee, dry fruits and rose-water. For Goans, our Sheero is a tea-time snack, with lesser ghee and predominantly cashew nuts -which are abundant- shaped or simply spooned onto a plate. My mum would usually cut them into diamond shapes, I remember :)
      So yeah, Goan Sheero has its own place 💫

    Goan sheera tastes well with Puri .Sheera we also add few cloves n sultanas.Pineapple is optional.samolina with ghee need to be roasted is a must.we will not get good taste.you can give a twist if you wish .😊

    • @FlorencyDias
      @FlorencyDias  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best part about food is that it allows space for preference :) The pineapple would make a juicy addition💫 Thank you for the ideas, John!

  • @angelodsouza8420
    @angelodsouza8420 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your receipy would have been more better if you had cooked it in pure ghee, raisins, more roasted dry fruits, green cardamon powder or grownded cardamon powder and pure milk with no colour which is not an option but at the same time is not good for health. Try it this original way and you will enjoy it.
