- Coinbase founder and CEO Brian Armstrong walks us through “Setting Up and Scaling a Crypto Company,” explaining how crypto can help startups raise money, acquire customers and build a global profile. The issuing of tokens, for example, can align the incentives of early users and reinforce network effects, helping solve the “cold-start” problem that can derail many startups. Armstrong also outlines the disadvantages of crypto that entrepreneurs must watch out for, including regulatory uncertainty. On balance, he thinks crypto is where the internet was in the early days. “In 5 or 10 years, pretty much every startup that gets created, it's going to use the internet, it's going to use AI, and it's also going to use some form of cryptocurrency somewhere in that product.”
Andreessen Horowitz’s Crypto Startup School brought together 45 participants from around the U.S. and overseas in a seven-week course to learn how to build crypto companies. Andreessen Horowitz is partnering with TechCrunch to release the online version of the course over the next few weeks.

you can backed a coin and peg the price to the fiat currency or fix the price to the value amount you choose. I think security tokens do this a well.

All this talk about "decentralized"...but isn't Coinbase "centralized"??
Yes, it is, but it gives you an interface to a decentralized backend. You can move your money out of coinbase (and you should) and into a cold wallet. It also can help you handle the infrastructure for decentralized identity. Because the power is in the network, it doesn't matter so much that they are centralized if you know how to use them.

In a rawest sense if Blockchain enables cryptocurrency and World around you run on Credit, Commodity, Loans, Stocks, Bonds, Futures, Equity, Derivatives, Securitized debt, Shorts, Margin calls and other Financial Instruments .... Blockchain has no mechanism in place today to enable these financial instruments in decentralized economy with the exception of simplistic money transfer.
In the absence of this, Blockchain will remain a novel idea.
Developing tools is not developing new ideas. Chinese have some interesting ideas.
I agree we'll never combine decentralized blockchain with traditional banking finance as enterprises or individuals. Government backed stable coins may come closest. The idea we'll decentralize the most important parts of banking is a pipe dream. That being said - monetizing digital assets is our future, but I don't think it's going to look the way that some of Bitcoin's earliest adopters and decentralized advocates are hoping.
