This game is important. 5 star recruits that we are in competition with Ohio State and others for will be there in droves. Also, much easier placement in the playoff if we get this game - less pressure to win game by game with this one behind us. National media bias will be challenged etc.... big big game with lots of subplots - but not the end of the world if we lose. Let's just go ahead and win this one. Oregon 31 - Ohio State 24
A lot of the freshmen from the '21 class played in the home loss to Oregon and they remember how that game made them feel. Those kids could have been drafted last year and they came back on a mission. Oregon has a hell of a team and I think they're a legit top 5 team, but I think this is the best team we have ever had and I think we want it a little more. Bucks win in an instant classic! O-H!!

This game honestly feels similar to the Rose Bowl between OSU and Utah a few years ago. The difference is, OSU isn't missing its top 2 receivers because they skipped the game. They aren't missing Treveyon Henderson because he's injured. They have their full complement of high level players available. And the OSU defense is far better now than they've been in the last 6-7 years. Gabriel reminds me a lot of Cam Rising, he's maybe a bit better but he's cut from similar cloth. Everything has to go right for Oregon to win, OSU doesn't have to be perfect they just have to run the football effectively and not make costly mistakes. 0-1 turnovers and avoid PI on 3rd and long or roughing the passer on 3rd and long, etc. and OSU wins without much trouble.
I think the tight ends will play a huge part on Saturday.

We chase a big game win for sure but as a die hard I really don't expect ducks to get that juggernaut status. They have been so good for so long and yeah it's awesome to see 10 to 11 wins. But other teams have been building for longer. You keep up with a potential overloaded with talent, projected national championship winner. It's not the end of the world especially if they play close. Closing the gap is what I look forward to. I never expected Dillon to be bo or even a qb transfer like Adam's. We will see how far he can take them but people need to pause

As far as Dillon Gabriel’s interceptions in the red zone…
The pick 6 had a lineman to Dillon’s right whose body may have briefly obscured the defender from Dillon’s view. If Dillon doesn’t mentally hold recollection of all the defenders’ movements, then he may not have remembered (in the exuberance to make a scoring throw) a defender was in his throw’s path.
A similar situation occurred with one of the next game’s interceptions where a lineman was to Dillon’s left, and Dillon may have done the same as above.
It is hard to keep track of 21 people moving fast in different directions. To have one’s vision impeded by tall, wide people makes keeping track even harder. Yes, QBs do this regularly. That doesn’t change the greater challenge for shorter QBs.
So you have a qb who will throw the ball when he can’t see everything clearly. Got it.

You can’t really use Michigan state as an example. Ohio state played them at spartan stadium and then Michigan state had to go on the road and play 6 days later against Oregon.

Both teams will find out a lot about who they really are... Ohio state has not played a team that's capable of playing with them for 4 quarters and Oregon still doesn't know what they have just yet they struggled early in the season against inferior competition and they must remember UCLA was coming off of a game against LSU in Michigan state was coming off of a game against Ohio State those teams were softened up so this game is going to be interesting and revealing

This is the biggest game in autzen if Oregon wins. Because they will be at the top of the B1G. Ranked #1. And be certified better than Georgia, Alabama AAND Ohio State. They will be seen as dominant. Which is the most meaningful thing for Oregon in regards to the future of the program. If they lose then the perception will be same ol Oregon.

Oregon has been tested, Oregon has faced adversity. Ohio State hasn’t. That’s one thing nobody has mentioned. Oregon was super close to losing vs Boise State. And they’ve been kicking ass since.

2021 Ohio state had a first-year defensive coordinator who had never been a defensive coordinator if you are a first-time head coach at a program like Ohio state that is something you do not do and he took a chance on doing it
the best OR can hope for is not to look like complete fools....OR only victory against OSU a couple years ago was against the youngest team in CF, although uber talented and full of 4 & 5 stars. Second half comes, you better be up by 30

Joey listed a bunch of meaningful "moments" in hindsight, but there really is no more meaningful game in terms of matchup/anticipation and buildup in history - Oregon/USC 2009 is close only because of USC's status at the time.

Fentress is ALWAYS Mr. Contrary. I knew before ever watching this that he would never pick the Ducks. He may very well be right, but his shtick always gets old fast throughout the season. He’s a Midwest guy, he’d never pick against the Buckeyes. I think of Gabriel plays a clean game, no INT’s, the Ducks will win. 24-17

Defense: Slow down Ohio St's run game and bring enough pressure to keep Howard from making clean throws
Offense: Establish a credible deep ball threat to keep Ohio St. off the line, keep Ohio St's defense spread out and force them to tackle in space.
Special teams: Be special!
Everyone: Play clean football don't let momentum take over this game.
All of that is easier said then done and this is such an evenly matched game that win or lose, this game does not define the season.
