  • Let's browse the Internet of the 90's and early 2000's! In this ASMR video, I browse a collection of well-preserved websites from the early years of the Internet while giving soft-spoken commentary to help you relax and sleep. We'll take a look at lots of classic websites and the primitive webpages of some of today's biggest companies and services. I hope you'll enjoy it!
This video was created using Protoweb, a free service that's working to recreate the experience of the early Internet as thoroughly as possible. If you want to check it out yourself, you can find more info on the Protoweb site: protoweb.org/

I'm too young to know what the old Internet was like back then. But, from what I've heard from my own mother, it was so new and seemed too cool to be true, like the future of curiosity was finally developed and you could have information at the click of a button. I see users her age talk about the early web being so nostalgic to many, and what it was like in the early days. Sometimes I wish I was born earlier during that time, and this vid captures my desire perfectly :)

I'll never forget being a little kid and watching a teacher on the school library computer dialing into the internet. What's odd, I think I remember browsing dozens upon dozens of sites back in the early 2000s, but now probably only visiting a core of about 7 or so on a daily basis. Everything got smooshed together.

Omg the sailor moon ring of power.. that was what I went to often. They had coloring pages. And midi file songs and little gifs of the scouts transforming and fighting. I remember hopping from one geocities web page to another. Remember guestbooks? And the doll makers.. and chatrooms.. also there was a group board where you could draw with others at the same time. And see what art they did.. some were so talented.. and you could draw with them real time.

I started on the internet with the creepypasta listening. And i always was curious and loved when people described old sites and links and formats. Always made me curios how the internet used to be. Hey, it's Mike who was a big fan of "The Witness" video. This one came up in my recommendations todaym, and when I heard the voice I knew it was you but thought the channel name was different. I looked back through your recent videos and found the name-change one. Mattastic is a good name, because you are fantastic. Although etomologically I suppose Mattastic would mean "very Matt" or "in a Matt way", but those are true too. At least, I assume your name is really Matt. Anyway, what I need nowadays is some soft-spoken dialog to override anxiety rumination, and ambient sounds and story readings don't quite do it anymore, and there aren't enough documentaries, so I think your recent videos may be just the ticket. Thanks for making them... Voice acting also sounds interesting. I also listen to Sounds Curious, who is a voice actress, and did ASMR documentaries for a while. Sadly she;'s not doing them anymore, but I still keep listening to the old ones again. It sound like an interesting field with many different opportunities, so you may find something interesting. You could also do audiobooks, like Steve West (my favorite British narrator).
