In an apartment, the Chimpanzee's natural habitat tends to be small laundry galleys. A nocturnal hunter, they routinely sleep during the day, preferring the natural musk of the dirty clothes hamper. When activity has ceased for the day, the semi-domestic, or "Apartmentus Squaterus", Chimpanzee ventures into the kitchen seeking any bananas ripening on the counter, but are very resourceful with the microwave, preferring Hot Pockets, frozen entrees and Top Ramen. They are happy, however, to eat Domino's Pizza cold.

Only as infants they look cute. Adult chimps loose the cuteness, and look kinda mean. They almost remind me of Blizzard and Chaos from the video game Primal Rage.
Yeah. There’s a reason why zoos use the slogan “don’t feed the animals”. Zookeepers carefully prepare the animals’ diets according to their nutritional needs, and if they tried feeding a zoo chimp half the stuff that Sandra fed Travis, it would end with the animal getting sick.
People are humanizing everything they see, when an animal is expressing something that looks human they associate it with their own humanity. And that's what the problem is, and that's why people keep getting injured or never see the truth of what really is going on.

I grew up in Stamford and remember the owner, Sandra, driving around in her very nice convertible with her monkey. I thought she was pretty stranged. Feel sorry for Charla Nash she was only trying to help her friend.
Actually no the chimp attacked because the owner was drugging him up and he got out of control. Charla was asked to bring his elmo to try to calm him down and it didn't work he attacked her
The chimpanzee attack happened about 3 miles from my house. Its in north Stamford, and its pretty much "in the woods". I had a guy that had a huge piece of land about 1/2 miles from me. He had llamas, and peacocks, and all sorts of oddball animals
Very close cousins in fact . We have 99% of the same DNA as Chimpanzees, 98.7% the same as Bonobos, 98% the same as Gorillas and 97% the same as Orangutans.
How can people be so selfish to take him from his mother at 3 days old! Plus she had almost all his teeth pulled. How do you expect an animal to react?
The craziest thing about the Charla Nash incident is that Charla, who was very viciously mauled by her friends chimp and thought to be dead by her friend, actually outlived her friend who wasnt attacked and who made the call to begin with Her friend died at a later time for unrelated causes while Charla is still alive

Why people keep these wild animals as pet
14 years they had him without incident. Dressing himself, watching tv, opening doors with keys, around people his entire life but just one moment he flipped and horrifically mauled that poor lady. I have nothing against dangerous animals like great white sharks or bears but I g2 admit I do not like chimps.

Travis was on an all you can eat junk food diet along with medications = disaster.
He demanded that food though. He would also beg Sandra to give him wine and Xanax 🍷 💊 🙊
Exactly.
We humanize animals and dehumanize humans.
Thank you for all the great information! I can't wait to try out all I've learned here when chimps try to attack me.
About 20-60% of our genes can also be found in plants, depending on the species, so it's fair to say that all life has been created with similar materials, but in differing amounts!
Plants are even more distant cousins😌

A friend of my mom's bought a house where the previous owners had chimpanzees. My mom friend breed and raise a certin breed of cats, and the cats kept dying. Turns out the chimpanzees carried a bacteria that kills cats, and the chimps had been allowed to relive themselves on the floor.

When you really stop to think about it, the way Sandra obtained Travis is no different than knocking out a human mom and stealing away her newborn baby.
A week ago in Libya, a tiger killed a four-year-old child. The child’s fathe he visite his friend and with him the child who keeps wild animals, and unfortunately the disaster happened.

“Distant cousins” simply means our closest living relatives, which they are (an easily observable and verifiable scientific fact). How is it in the year 2024 that people still get offended by this simple scientific fact and deny it? So uncomfortable with the truth!

While humans and chimpanzees do share a common ancestor, it's important to understand that we are different species. We are not distant cousins. Chimpanzees are amazing animals, but they belong in the wild, not as pets.

@sylviatrabucco4254 of course we are animals lol. Such vanity and conceit to think otherwise. We eat, sleep, inhale oxygen, expel waste, mate and reproduce. There is absolutely no fundamental difference between us and other species. Clearly, we are not angels or supernatural beings.
Chimps are referred to as our distant “cousins” because they are our closest living relatives (like it or not) with whom we share a common ancestor. Evolution is an observable and verifiable fact of life, and is certainly far more reliable than an ancient book of childish fairytales (which requires blind faith - with absolutely NO evidence - to believe).

Humans are actually classified as “great apes” and “primates”. In the year 2024 you’d think common sense would prevail and people would just accept the scientific facts of life, but of course that’s asking too much!
I grew up in Stamford and remember the owner, Sandra, driving around in her very nice convertible with her monkey. I thought she was pretty stranged. Feel sorry for Charla Nash she was only trying to help her friend.
It IS known why Travis attacked. The woman he attacked had picked up his Elmo doll. This provoked him.
That would provoke me 😡
i heard he was also given xanax
Actually no the chimp attacked because the owner was drugging him up and he got out of control. Charla was asked to bring his elmo to try to calm him down and it didn't work he attacked her
Yes that's exactly why
The chimpanzee attack happened about 3 miles from my house. Its in north Stamford, and its pretty much "in the woods". I had a guy that had a huge piece of land about 1/2 miles from me. He had llamas, and peacocks, and all sorts of oddball animals
Distant cousins??? I don’t think so!!

The craziest thing about the Charla Nash incident is that Charla, who was very viciously mauled by her friends chimp and thought to be dead by her friend, actually outlived her friend who wasnt attacked and who made the call to begin with
