Mountain Lions have lived around me for nearly a decade now, ever since they had to migrate from the Dakota's to find new land and territory's. Big Cats have been my favorite animals my entire life, and waving your hands and screaming, is a big misconception as I learned with Mountain Lions myself personally. Standing strong, puffing your chest, and letting out what I call a loud, low-pitched bellowing yell, kinda like modern heavy metal vocals, makes them run away as fast as they can, and they tend to keep looking back at me like they're thinking, what in the hell was that thing. Waving your arms and screaming actually makes you look like injured possible prey to them, because you're moving your limbs, and screaming or whining if you will like an injured deer would and so on. Only do a yell like I spoke of if you have the vocal chords and the diaphragm and lungs for it, because it's meant to scare the shit outta any Apex Predator, oh and Bobcats get up to 70 pounds here in Wisconsin, they're quite large and could kill a medium sized dog like a yellow lab, boxer, retrievers, a little over a week ago a huge Bobcat came through my backyard with a nearly 20 pound Opossum in it's mouth, caught it on my game camera attached to a tree. Enjoying the video so far. Take care man.
Where I live bobcats are a lot smaller I have never seen one weigh more than 25 or 30 pounds. You blink and you miss them. They're especially afraid of people on mountain bikes for some reason. As for mountain lions they avoid people where I live I have only encountered one once. It must have been sick because we got the drop on it. It quickly got away from us. When I hike I carry a nice thick oak hiking stick It's almost 6 feet long I figure I can always put that between me and almost any wild animal. Most animals don't want a jab in the face.
Just a side note, the largest population of Jaguars in the world is not in the Amazon, but in the Pantanal (swampy regions in the central west of Brazil and also in parts of Bolivia and Paraguay). The Jaguars of the Pantanal are also much larger than the jaguars of the Amazon.
My favorite big cats are snow leopards. As a former mountaineer, I always wanted to climb in snow leopard territory, but my body's injuries added up too fast for me to get to the Karakoram or the Himalayas and perhaps see one in the wild. I was able to climb in the Andes and summited Aconcagua before retiring. While I was in Central and South America I had hoped to see a jaguar in the wild, but wasn't able to find one. @A_Randomguy_ Humans kill millions of sharks a year, sharks kill less than a dozen humans a year. Granted not lions but you see how deadly humans are compared to perceived killers like lions and sharks?
Also talking about Tigers, there was a female Tiger in India that got injured and was unable to then properly hunt local prey, so it either had to find food or was going to starve. Well it quickly found out that a lone person is much easier to hunt and take down, that created a massive issue. Tracking Demographics are hard in still pretty undeveloped rural places like that, so a true count may be hard but obviously enough ppl went missing and they found enough remains to realize they had a major issue. I cant remember the specific details, but this particular cat was a nightmare to track and deal with and had a pretty unbelievable amount of deaths associated with it. This might be one of the rare times you could actually say that animal is a "maneater", the movies use that term for any aggressive wild animal.
The snow leopard is not a real leopard; it is in fact more closely related to tigers. Much smaller than lions, tigers, leopards, and jaguars, they could certainly hurt a person badly (about like a dog, which can be very cat-like in build and behavior. You don't want a dog as an enemy).

Pumas need to be in higher tier. They are equal to Leopards in terms of threat level. Leopards may be more ferocious but they both kills similar sized huge prey. Lions and tigers and Jags are obviously in different tier.
Cougars are not equal to leopards at all. Leopards are more ferocious and aggressive with a bigger pantherine heavier builds like proportionately larger skulls and more front heavier. They’re in a different league. Just cause they are the same weight doesn’t mean they’re in the same tier.
Years ago I was driving down a remote logging road on Vancouver Island. About 40 yards down the road a cougar leapt from a 20 ft rocky rise on to the road looked at my truck and in one bound made it to the other rocky rise . Thats about 40 feet in one go.

Ok big misconception. Despite the name Snow leopards are not leopards. Snow Leopards are more closely related to tigers than any other cat. Same applies to the clouded Leopard which are not related any kind leopard either.
I'm a little confused about placing jaguars in the top category ("Say Your Prayers"): I've long heard that jaguar attacks on humans are very rare; mountain lion attacks on humans seem to be a lot more prevalent, in fact. I would've put cougars in the 2nd from the top category, even though, per se, cougars only attack humans somewhat rarely.....but they do happen and fatalities also...
yes a cheetah is the fastest land animal at shorter distances but a greyhound (being the fastest dog breed) would eventually overtake it as a greyhound can maintain its top speed for about 7 miles
But i think a cougar should know that it is a bad idea to run away from a cheetah even if you get scared like a bunny: th-cam.com/video/-sFAA6tvDAk/w-d-xo.html
Yeah but the thing is, Cheetahs don't need to chase you for long distances cause they'll reach 70 miles per hour in three seconds and most animals can't do it even in 20 seconds
Cheetah's often have failed hunts too. And I'd sat they are ambush creatures too, they spend most of their hunt creeping up to prey, as they cant run for too long. They even hunt at specific times of the day, when most predators are sleeping. In order not to get their meal stolen by hyeanas and such. They have to get very close to the antilopes for example, the speed advantage isnt that massive over a longer hunt.
And snow leopards are closer relatives of the tiger than Leopards. Eurasian Lynx are also capable of dominating a wolf, one on one. And they can move as swiftly and silently as a tiger in Snow. They kinda float on the snow, and they can track for hours, with insane jump reach straight forward and upwards. Like the cougar almost (who should be one tier above) Lynx are big cats with literal jiu jitsu skills. But they'll always see us before we see them, and run away. Hence little to no human death.
Cheetahs are actually the most successful hunters of the big cats. They almost never miss. Seeing as to most animals can't fly, there's no escaping a cheetah
Everybody saying Snow Leopards are not real Leopards but related closer to Tigers must have watched that TV show the other day and now have to tell everyone how clever they became. 😂
How to survive deadliest cats is my favorite How to survive video. I wonder if How to survive can make a how to survive deadliest wild dogs video soon.
Only made it to the leopards. It’s not labeled as the highest danger, if the leopard wants to kill you it will. This isn’t a serious vid, it’s purely for entertainment, so don’t get cocky and think you can take any animal not in the prayers section.
I actually survived getting ambushed by a adult male Mountain Lion earlier this year while out training on my stamina, since I'm planning on getting into the UFC in the near future. But thankfully I had my knife on me at the time so I was able to put it down before it could do some lethal damage, but I still have some nasty scars all over my body from the encounter though. I'm just even more thankful that it wasn't rabid.
The domestic cat is more likely to make a kill than any but a black-footed cat or a cheetah while hunting. It is one of the top ten predators, some of which are insects (the dragonfly is the top). We can all be thankful that we are so big that the domestic cat falls into the "you might get a bad scratch" category.
Excellent vid but I:have one complaint - snow leopards are a completely separate species to leopards. The leopard maxs out at 200 lbs, whilst the snow leopard only reaches around 125-140 lbs at the very most. Also, the snow leopard has a very timid demeanour towards humans & there are no records of them killing people. Can you do a similar list for the MULTIPLE SPECIES OF SHARK?
Remember those Tribesman that stand in a line side by side of like 5 ppl with their homeade spears. They very causually walk over to a pride eating a kill and most of the time the lions temporarily atleast back off and relinquish the kill, they will quickly cut off a back strap or big meaty hind quarter and then casually walk back away before the Lions wise up and come back to start eating again, im honestly just curious who were the first set of ppl to try that method.
I’m so tired of people counting snow leopards as a species of leopard, like just because they have leopard in their name doesn’t mean that they are a leopard, mountain lions and lions both have lion in their name, but they are not closely related. Snow Leopards are more related to tigers, and mountain lions are more related to cheetahs
Question : YEARS AGO (yikes) - estimated in the 1990's - I remember watching a wildlfe show featuring tribal hunting groups that lived in tiger country. The member of the group at the back of the line was in constant danger of being attacked by a tiger. Researchers identified a solution in which the member at the back of the line wore a mask resembling a face ON THE BACK of his head, giving the appearance that the hunter was walking while facing backward. The show gave me the impression that the strategy greatly reduced if not completely eliminated the tiger attacks on these hunting parties. Have you ever heard of this strategy, the show, or have you ever heard of any updates? I was just curious - Thanks!!!!
3:40 yes they actually can be found in the jungle. There's a population in the congo rainforest. 17:33 actually both Lion and Tigers have a bite force of 1000 psi. If we take canine bite force into consideration the Lion has a stronger overall bite.
@fredjonesjr.9069 oh don't tell me you're still going off of that old outdated measurements that Brady barr took from a young male lion, that the whole world mistakenly took as the biteforce of all Lion's right? As a person who work in dense tropical jungle I am pretty sure that I have been stalked by tiger in several ocassion. Once i saw fresh tiger foot peintvon my own mark on the dirt. Cougars are more dangerous than jaguars and have more human kills. Cougars are larger and heavier than leopards reaching over 220 pounds and they have a higher success rate than tigers.
You should have moved eleven years ago.
Where in Wisconsin are you to see cougars?
My wife on the other hand was a zoologist in her first career and went along in a British expedition to Belize. Her duties on that expedition was to count jaguars. She was very successful too, lucky woman!

The most honest answer for the most deadly cat. The one you never saw.

Leopards have been known to hunt humans while cougars and pumas hate people and never want to go anywhere near them
Tiger is in a Tier of it's own. Let's be honest!
Cougars are not equal to leopards at all. Leopards are more ferocious and aggressive with a bigger pantherine heavier builds like proportionately larger skulls and more front heavier.
They’re in a different league. Just cause they are the same weight doesn’t mean they’re in the same tier.

The fact you used a clip from HATARI is amazing
After you describe the Cougar, I think it should be in the "Dangerous and Menacing" category.
But i think a cougar should know that it is a bad idea to run away from a cheetah even if you get scared like a bunny:
th-cam.com/video/-sFAA6tvDAk/w-d-xo.html
maintain top speed for 7 miles? 7? are u stupid or what?
Yeah but the thing is, Cheetahs don't need to chase you for long distances cause they'll reach 70 miles per hour in three seconds and most animals can't do it even in 20 seconds
12:53 Bad advice. *NEVER* run from a mountain lion. Back away slowly while making yourself look as big and scary as possible.
Like the cougar almost (who should be one tier above)
Lynx are big cats with literal jiu jitsu skills. But they'll always see us before we see them, and run away. Hence little to no human death.
Cheetahs are actually the most successful hunters of the big cats. They almost never miss. Seeing as to most animals can't fly, there's no escaping a cheetah
@@kihambapraise254 Cougars are more successful.
