    Defending in FM 24 is about striking a good balance between defence and attack and more than ever it is important to correctly interpret team attributes!

    It's fascinating, that even after 13 years of hardcore FM, I still see a screen which I've never really been to or at least not in a useful way : squad planner / reports :D

    Hi phil, what is the good passing avg rating in number ? If 11 is not good, then what number should the team have to be considered having a good passing ratings ? Or in general, what numbers should be considered good rating in player attribute ? Thanks for all your vid phil.

    • @fm-oldmanphil

      I would say that if the overall squad passing is pushing 13...that would be a very good passing team... remember that your 1st team players would increase that average

You have taught me already so much about how to evaluate a team and explained so well each tactical tweek. Keep up the great work :)

    Your a legend, I did many seasons in many saves with United all I ever won was 2 carabou cups and 2nd in league conceding nearly every game I unclicked the pressing and counter attack and in 1st season I lost my 2 1st away games heavily then stormed the league loosing 1 more and did the double and lost in CL final, best defence. My 1st premier league title and 1st time in CL final

    I never take advice for fm..only advice is my expirence,?why?your team is your "case" ...and allways write it ,and basic rules ..yesteday in away loosing 1:3 ,why?first my team is 18 in champioship..ai going very agressive fowward and in away game excpet attack football,second my players is tire thirde opponent have strange formation..it is way to loose game..how stop go defense to much fresh players roles no risky and tryin dont lose game ,draw is very good

    • @fm-oldmanphil
      @fm-oldmanphil  หลายเดือนก่อน

      happy that you don't need advice...what you say the end is very true. Very often the AI begins to beat you inexplicably. I have just recently made a video on that and what to do if you lose a couple of games. Basically, what you said is correct. Make sure you don't lose the next two. You don't need to win, just make sure you don't lose. However, this is easier said than than done and for people who are fairly inexperienced at the game. That's why I make these videos. Helps a lot of people. hope you continue to be successful!

      @@fm-oldmanphil fm is a simulation of real football, which is 98% accurate, and every team is unique, that's why advice can't help... I play different versions of the game, in two versions I'm bad while in others I fight for promotions.. As an example, I will take the version in which I am fighting for survival.. A bad streak is the result of a series of bad situations, player injuries, bad tactics and the like, the problem is how to get out of it? The whole team is without morale and courage and it's as if they are used to receiving goals and not scoring them.. the story should start from here

    With adjusting your tactics to your teams abilities, would you rather compare yourself with the teams around you or play to your own strengths? I mean, when do you go from "we are at least better than the rest around us so we will still do it" to "we can't do it, so we won't"?

    • @fm-oldmanphil
      @fm-oldmanphil  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's all about risk. How much risk are you willing to take. Consider Man city. They attack, play out from the back and take risks believing that they are capable of winning every game. It does go wrong and they make terrible errors sometimes, but they keep believing that the benefits out weigh the risks. Their attacking strength allows them to believe that. Generally the mistakes that lead to defeats for City don't lead to too many defeats so they continue to do it. Other teams may decide not to take so many risks. As your squad develops you can do more and so that means you can take more risks.

    Found this very useful but think it could have been less than 5 mins long. I kept dragging along the timeline trying to find when you went on the tactics screen and then skipped another 6 mins and the same recommendation was being said. The message is great and is new to me so I really appreciate it, but what I took out of it you could have said just the once because you are clear in what you say the first time which is a gift in and of itself. It might also make it quicker for you to put out content because you don't have to worry about needing more than one take! From experience, I know it's also super difficult not to repeat yourself when you're not actually talking to people live in front of you so you have no live feedback of if people are actually grasping what you are saying so you repeat to drive that point home. Thanks Phil, subscribed but would love it if you could share these unique tips and tricks more succinctly!

    Good tips simple tips. But I found those out to my cost after languishing in league two for six seasons. I normally play a cautious counter attacking system, alternating to an attacking one - both in a narrow 4-3-3. But I could not get consistency because of defensive errors. I normally played regroup and counter in the counter system. Focusing on pace acceleration anticipation etc.
    Finally I realised that to play in that way in FM24 you have to make sure you get a good defence at least on a par with those in the league.
    In other versions of FM I played (FM20) the standard of defenders did not matter as much and they were not as error prone as FM24.
    Once I improved my defence I was fine, there were less errors. Then I was able to climb the leagues.

    • @fm-oldmanphil
      @fm-oldmanphil  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for taking the time to give your feedback ....Absolutely agree with the final sentence. Once you have a really good defence then you have the luxury of being able to take more risks. These tips can help get the best out of a poor team until you become much better. Seems to work well so far but there are a few other things that go with it...that's for the next video.
      Once again, thank you so much for your feedback...much appreciated
