We got our tanks from CAK Tanks and they provided a great service. Picked the tanks up from them as I was passing by them due to work, and they provided some really sound advice. Also to note on the size of the connections provided, they will install any size diameter based upon your needs. I had the waste tank made up with a 40mm inlet. Wouldn't have done this if I hadn't had watched your tank install video Greg, you've been along side me on our build all of the way 👍🏼

Hi Greg, good to have you back on TH-cam and I always like to see such neat work (actually I'm the same) and your 'belt and braces' approach to DIY! I was sorry to hear about your recent family loss and hope you and Lou are both well and coping with your emotions at this time. I look forward to seeing videos of your travels again once the lockdown ends.....Kind regards Richard
It really depends how well the engine has been looked after and what type of driving it has been subjected too. A regularly service engine with proof of regular oil changes etc and steady motorway miles can go on your thousands of miles. At the end of day an engine can be changed so the condition of the body work and chassis is very critical as a lot of cans do rust very easily. If you can get a clean van with service history that is the best option.
Hi Greg Looking back to my van build, I’d say your advice about these tanks was invaluable. I fitted both my shower and sink with 40mm solvent weld. It drains beautifully. It’s just yet another bit of your advice which made my life easier following behind you. There is one bit of advice which I wish I hadn’t followed (nothing to do with water) but I’m saving that for a beer meet-up and a laugh. Keep well you and regards to Lou.
Greg - it’s always a pleasure to see your work to be of such a high standard. As an electrician I can only commend your use of the “right gear for the job” I’m close to purchasing my van and as the lockdown is now at level 2 here in New Zealand, I’m now able to travel around to shop for the bits I need for my build. Cheers mate
Great work again. I'd be wary of the drain tap bracket. You need to insulate the steel screws from the stainless bracket to avoid galvanic corrosion. Another method is a 2 piece bracket with the lower section being sacrificial. Only highlighting as I came across this very issue on a van last week. The LPG filler was mounted in the same way and had corroded the sill to the pint of collapse.
Hi Greg great to see another good well informed video from you. Hope all is well with you and your back on the road again soon . Greetings from Holland
Bit late to the party, have a look at the Hep20 non return traps. They can replace any trap or the dreaded running traps. Great help and thanks for taking the time to share..
@@GregVirgoe Iv not had issue with them… in a domestic setting that is. As this is our first conversion I will take that on board and go with the set up of someone who knows from experience. Great vids, thanks again…
Thx Greg for creating the playlist! You know that you're my main go-to guy for everything van conversion related. Once it comes to starting my own build this playlist will be a godsend! 👍🏼😉
Thanks for this very informative video. Especially usefull with info about where to buy tanks. Because you have a trap under the van (over the prop shaft) you could have dispensed with the bottle trap under the sink. It would give a little more usable cupboard space.
Brilliant Greg, thank you. Great to see the water system under your van .... finally 😂😊👍 . Totally understand why you didn’t film this, such an awkward area. Having chatted with you along the way, we’ve found your comments suggestions invaluable. For the uninitiated out there this is next level and your ‘belt and braces’ approach ensures longevity of systems with not having to replace items later on. Love the rodding eye suggestion. Keep up the great works bud 👍😊 Cheers
Great work as usual Greg thanks. I’m in the process of installing my water system at the moment. Just waiting for my tank to arrive from CAK. I’m putting my fresh water tank inside as we use our vans in winter a lot so need to keep it warm. Very useful video this thanks.
Brilliant. As always. Thanks for turning the van upside down so we can see properly. 😉 Good point about backflow from sink to shower. Iveavan had the problem, ended up sourcing an online one way valve. I'll not post a link. Readers can search it out. His videos are just reposted and really good.
It’s not a good solution because in a waste system those traps can easily get stuck open by waste products soap residue or food waste and the problem reoccurs. This way is far more positive and nothing to maintain. 👍🏼😊
I've cut the hole for the sink waste pipe and fitted the pipe, the plan is to put a bucket under the waste pipe. Sorry Greg but life's too short to worry about a bit of waste water. Accepted your van build video's are the holy grail and thanks for all your effort 💙♥️💙♥️💙♥️💙♥️💙♥️💙♥️
It’s actually a sound plan mike. It’s the way caravans do it. You have a grey tank with wheels you put under the vehicle and wheel it off to the service point when full. Saves a lot of hassle. 😊👍🏼
Thanks for the excellent advice, it's really helpful for when I can afford to do one of these conversions. One thing I thought of was perhaps put some waxoyl on the jubilee clips that hold the shower waste. I realise it's a small point but I've had problems with rusted out jubilee clips in all sorts of applications and thought that might stop some issues down the line. Anyway please keep the vids coming, you're experience is gonna save me a ton of money when I can eventually get one done
Yes exactly that. The water still runs away but some is held in the low points to stop smells from the tank coming back into the van. We often just put a bit of disinfectant down there to keep everything fresh. 👍🏼😃
Absolutely bob on, Greg. I've done almost the exact same. Could never work out why they come out the factory with those tiny 22-23mm wastes. Also whacked 2 40mm Floplast Tank connectors and ran it all in 40mm waste with a rodding point - up there for thinking! 🤓🙏
I intend to use pvc conduit inside the van and underneath to create cable raceways. One thing I never see anyone do is install “pull strings” in their vans so they can pull extra cables if needed in the future. You just pull a string through each one and leave it where it’s accessible on either end. If you need to pull a new cable through, you attach the cable and a new string to your pull string such that you have another string available later if needed.
Great video Greg, I liked how you explained what you would have changed about the placement of the fresh water, be good to see a van tour that goes through the bits you would do now you have lived in it a while...I am sure it would only take half an hour to pull together ;-)
That’s a good idea Janes. I did one last year before we changed the fans. There would be some minor things but for the most part the van works really well.
Great timing Greg I've just done my fresh water tank and controls yesterday and I'm fitting the waste an shower connections this morning to be honest I was going to do it the same way as you have 😁 I've actually put an access point in the top and used the screw in type connections. I have fitted a gas tank under the van to the rear of the fresh water tank all the high pressure side including the regulator are external and the local manifold and isolation valves are in the garage so much easier that way and a lot more space too👍
Yeah it’s the way I would go on another one. Just bit more peace of mind and could get more gas capacity too. Thanks for watching and good luck with the waste today 👍🏼😊
julie hughes there are two types of refillable cylinder for under the van. One is a horizontal cylinder laying down sideways and would go behind the rear diff where my fresh water tank is. The other type is shaped like a wheel and would go where your spare tyre is. That means you have to find a place to put the spare wheel either on the back doors or roof rack. Both tanks have larger capacity and are safer being outside. www.gasit.co.uk/gasit-vapour-gas-refillable-products.html
Yet again Greg great content Have followed you from day one . Im now also a big fan of Gadget John ur bro Keep up the stuff Looking forward to you and Lou off on ur travels again Keep safe and well Regards Rich

Good job as usual, be aware that the first section of waste pipe could become a source of bad smells as it will retain gunk, bad smells in waste tanks are common in campervans 👍
We regularly put a tank cleaning solution through the system and with traps that stops smell coming back from the tank. A lot of motorhome don’t have traps.
@@GregVirgoe Sorry for that comment Greg I actually meant it for another TH-cam video custom build I was watching, I referred to your video for " how it should be done" your above criticism on your technical competence 👍
Did I miss the vent of the waste water tank? Well thought with the reflux problem not filling up the shower with sink water...eewh...! Thx for showing us! :-D
Fantastic informative as usual video Greg.....not at this stage yet but certainly saved for later. Love the smart way you fed the cables for the level indicators on waste and fresh, was thinking no later than yesterday how I would work around that one. 2 x Max Air fans fitted yesterday, found a new confidence after doing a pretty decent job on them after watch your video about 20 times 😂 measure 20x times cut once and all that 😉
That is probably the most scariest and biggest job to cut a hole in the roof so now you’ve tackled that everything else will be much less stressful and you will take it in your stride. Well done 👍🏼😃
Many thanks for your explanatory video Greg, such a great help for a first van conversion! I am planning my water system, and watched your videos about cutting the holes for the outside inlets for the water, gas etc... I will also have a CAK underslung tank, but I don't quite understand how/where exactly the filling pipe will run from the tank outlet to the side of van for an outside filling point. I understand the filling point has to be higher than the tank obviously, and it seems like I would have to first, cut a hole in the floor of the van to pass the pipe from the underslung tank, then run the pipe inside the side of the van and then cut another hole obviously for the outside filling point? I am actually wondering if there is a way to avoid passing the pipe first inside the van through the floor? I have actually not been able to find any detailed video of the route of the pipe from the tank to the outside filling point and I was wondering if you could tell me how you did and if I got it right? Thank you so much in advance, all the best!
Nice one Greg, I'm sure you did the right thing by making a larger sized waste outlet. Nothing worse than having a blocked waste water system - stinky mess.
The usual quality job from you, nicely done. Personally, I'd replace the trap with a Hepvo valve. They are waterless valves (so no risk of freezing) and probably ideal for van builds. A Hepvo for the shower too, at that. Winterizing your van is a bit of a job now, since you have water trapped in the pipes at all times.
Croft I have fitted loads of those valves through work and occasionally get called back because they get stuck open with some debris, soap buildup or food waste and don’t seal properly then end up smelling. We live in our van full time so never need to winterise it as it’s constantly being used. It’s far more simple and less maintenance to have a water trap in the pipe. In two years of constant use I’ve not had a single problem with this system so can say from experience that its simplicity just works. 😊
Cheers Greg, it's good to see how you've routed the pipes and it's also good to hear how you'd do things differently. I'm contemplating an internal fresh tank, mostly because my van has a stupid adblue tank where your waste is situated and I know that a good spin off is the lack of freezing, but I just begrudge the amount of garage space it will take up..lol 😂 ❤💙❤💙❤💙❤
@@GregVirgoe that's a great idea..I was thinking of having a custom one across between the wheel arches, but my batteries are over near the front of the offside arch, so this would be a better route.. Brilliant.! Thanks for that.! 😊👍
Hello John, you’ve been quiet lately? Don’t recall seeing your messages. Hope everything is ok. We are ok considering. Will be on the move again tomorrow. 😊
@@GregVirgoe It's so good to hear that you, Lou and the rest of the family are well...and that you're on the move once again tomorrow. All my best for your journey. I'm assuming you're remaining in the UK for the next while? I'm OK, as well. I was in Florida for two months, helping to minimize my elderly mother's exposure to Coronavirus. While that was difficult psychologically, I did complete a couple of projects that add to my skill set. The biggest accomplishment was replacing the 21-year old central air conditioning unit on mom's house. I'd installed mini-splits previously, but not an entire central A/C system. Doing the work myself saved mom $5,550, and will save money on every monthly electricity bill from now on!
Brilliant timing, thanks Greg. We are going to need to tackle this soon. Think we need a custom tank as we have a MK8 Ford Transit and there are no pre-made tanks for it. Also, thanks for the comments on Instagram! (We are leaving.in.the.fall on there)
Ah yes, the rivnuts in the solar panels 😃 you guys have got a lovely van. That spray foam is going to be amazing for insulation and sound deafening too. Have you gone through CAK list of tanks. What I would do is measure the space you have available and send them an email. They may have a tank that will suit the space without going bespoke on it.
@@GregVirgoe Cheers Greg! Yes I've had a look. I need to wait until I know exactly where our sink waste is going to end up coming through the floor before getting in touch with them I think. Its a tight space and I want to make sure we make the best use of space possible!
Rick Clark a little tip for you. I ran my sink waste across the floor in the kickspace of the kitchen cupboards so I could get it through the floor in a more convenient location. Nobody will ever see it under there 😃👍🏼
Looks like a well built grey water system! I would have used some wago connectors in that junction box to make life a little easier as it should be weather proof in there being ip67.
As always a great informative video Greg. Ta. I have a commercial van conversion which allways had water sitting in the shower drain run. When the van braked it would throw this water up through the shower plug hole which was a pain! (Usually store a few things in the shower when we are driving). Ended up fitting a non return valve close to the shower drain. Had to weaken the spring to make it sensitive enough for the water to drain away (not much of a fall to the tank). Working so far but if it becomes unreliable I was thinking about using a small electric waste pump? All the best!
When I brake the tray sits behind the waste tank so if anything the water goes into the tank and not the other way. I drive really steady so it’s never been a problem. You might find a Hep2o trap would work better in your situation.
Hi Greg great video, I’m about to fit my grey water tank and was going to insulate it but I note it appears that you haven’t done so. I’m aware of your expert knowledge regarding insulation so I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts regarding this topic? Many thanks in advance 👍
I wondered about the lack of (what we call) a P-trap (loop seal?) off your sink which prevents gray tank odors odors from getting into your van. But your high point accomplishes the same thing.
I have got a small bottle trap on the kitchen sink, however on the shower I’m relying on the high point in the pipe under the chassis to do the same thing. 👍🏼😃
@@GregVirgoe I wondered what that was on your sink - we don’t have that style trap in the US (that I’m aware of). In most of the videos I’ve seen, people just seem to ignore it. Makes me wonder how much they really know about building. But I never for a second wonder if you do - I refer people to your channel all the time.
@@RustyCas999 if you don’t have a water trap there is nothing to stop the grey waste smells coming back into the living area and nobody wants a stinky van 🚐😳thank you for recommending my videos I really appreciate it 🙏🏼
Hi greg once again great video just wondering if you had the chance to do your van again what would you do differently now your living fulltime in your van
I wouldn’t change much it really does work well but these few things I would do. 1. Fit Maxxfan Deluxe they are incredible fans. 2. Fit underslung lpg tank safer and more capacity. 3. Simplify the electrics cut down on 230 sockets and fit more 12v sockets and USB points. 4. Add an external shower point at the back of the van. 5. For a single traveller I wouldn’t have a shower cubicle.
Well, another great content from Greg as usual, thanks again, I am very optimistic about, one day we can find an easy solution for cleaning both water tanks because it can be really hard job to disconnect and reconnect them, in the end, there is no guaranty to be algae and dirt-free in both. I think, at least the fresh water tank upright (upside down) next to shower or wardrobe because the bottom surface of the tank will be minor and the risk of sticking algae would be minor and even with a simple chlorine cleansing would be fine.( but the fill out valve should be installed on the upper part, because of the pressure) But a good solution for gray water would be tilting the tank underneath of the van, through the outgoing valve. Even an inch will do the job. Keep up hard work Greg and thanks again, dude. Thumbs up.
Yes I agree it’s not an easy job to drop the tanks and it’s one that have been putting off myself. Think the fresh can be chlorinated ok with a good supply of water and a home test kit. The water would have to be dropped to clean it properly.
Thanks for your replay and like, I have a low budget "but big dream" like other friends to the whole process, and trying to find a decent one from 2007 and above to start the project so if you or anyone knows an Iveco, Sprinter, Transit Jumper or such models in large size (in UK LHD left-hand drive because I live in southern Spain but I can pick it up almost anywhere in Europe) please let me know by a PM. stay cool and tuned.
Hi Greg, thank you for the video! I was wondering how to achieve the same layout without the graywater tank freezing - it goes down to -35c sometimes where I live and I would love to have a shower inside my van!
Hi Greg, see you passing me the other week in Gainsborough, hope your well mate, just a correction in shower waste, I think an unslotted waste will be needed. Take care and see you around Scott
You have a couple of options. Insulate it by wrapping the tank and Pipework externally. Or you can install a 12v frost heater or trace heating tape which comes on to keep the tank from freezing when it’s cold. CAK Tanks can help with the parts.
Hi Greg, great video as always...would appreciate a little guidance on the Thetford sink waste. Noticed you used the 11/4 trap under the sink, how did you connect this to the sink? I can't seem to find a suitable waste that fits the Argent sink with a 11/4 outlet to fit onto the trap. It's only a small hole in the sink (40mm hole with 60mm flange) Thanks Gary
hi greg great vid again. do the sensor cables from the tanks not reach to the garage area of your van so you can connect the 7 core from the level gauges there.
Another great video Greg. I see that you made the shower connection to the top of tank but did you have any issues with grey water running back into the shower tray when the was tank nearing capacity. Did you ever consider fitting an NRV or some kind of flap valve in line on the shower waste pipe?
No never had any problems I think the trap is deep enough that it holds enough water to prevent that happening. We always empty the grey tank before driving as it saves on weight and fuel cost. 😊
@@GregVirgoe That's brilliant, thanks Greg, I couldn't find these anywhere for some reason. Let's hope we can all hit the road again soon to enjoy all the hard work :)
I'd be interested in how you have found servicing the Sprinter as I've heard it is the most expensive van to have serviced because you have to use a Mercedes garage. Also, if you have any feedback on your van type for those of us that are still trying to figure which van to buy.
Black Water you don’t have to use a Mercedes dealer for servicing. I have had work done in general garages where labour is cheaper. I did the brake discs and pads myself and the parts only cost me £211 The sprinter has been very reliable. In two years we have had the van it’s done 20000 miles and only required regular servicing. Most major fleet owners use this van and there must be a reason for it being so widely used. For me personally the only other van I would consider is the Fiat Ducato for the additional cargo space.
I have a 2 battery and 2 solar panel system. Can I use 16mm cable where you use 10mm as I intend to upgrade to 3 of each in the future. Great content as usual. Den
Take a look at my wiring schematic video in the description there are free wiring diagrams for two and three panel and battery setups with all the cable sizes too. 👍🏼😃
@Greg Virgoe yes think I've watched all your build videos multiple times very inspirational, I was looking for more info on the toilet water intake as its a electric flush, I have ordered the same unit. Quick question I know it may be a long shot but would you be interested in a help in hand with the my over head storage and kitchen cabinets/draws I'm confident I can simulate your build in all other aspects but I'm by far not a carpenter lol,I am willing to pay you for you work/time
@@therichrv the toilet get fed with cold water supply from the pressurised cold water system in the van. Power is 12v DC to the toilet to operate the solenoid valve to allow the toilet to flush. I’m afraid I don’t have any spare time to take on extra work. Here is a list of van converters that may be able to help you www.quirkycampers.com/uk/quirky-van-conversions/
Hi Greg, great information again,..... you mentioned that you probably would do things a little differently (To site elsewhere LPG tank & Waste water tanks for safety & non freezing reasons) - Questions;- Where can you buy LPG tanks to fit under the van? (do they come in many shapes & sizes to fit different vans?),..............also, if you site a waste water tank in your van garage, would you need a 12v waste water pump? or is it possible to purchase a 12v macerator pump?...............Would love it if you did a diagram & links in your next vid to explain how you would do it.
I have seen two different style underslung gas tanks from GAS-IT. They make a horizontal cylinder tank that would go where my fresh water tank is and a circular tank the size of your spare tyre. But that means relocating the spare wheel either on the back doors or roof rack. Here is a link. www.gasit.co.uk/gasit-vapour-gas-refillable-products.html I would still put the waste tank underneath as waste pump is something I can see going wrong regularly.
Tom you can get waste water pumps and maceraters to pump waste water up into a high level tank if you cannot get it away by gravity. You often get them for bathrooms in basements or in remote location where a normal drain is not possible.
Hi Greg, thank you for the detailed videos your are back producing. How are you getting on with your new camera? I had a look at John and Mandy's intro video, looks great. On the fence at the moment, your feed back will be the decider!!
My last two videos have been produced with the osmo action. I like the wider field of view. The colour may not be as good as my other camera but I have not fiddled with any setting yet. I have sound on an external mic plugged into the side. I think for the convenience of a take anywhere clogging setup it will be my go to camera for now. 😃
Greg, so glad I found your channel. I want to build a van for my family... currently 2 girls and my wife. Is there any disadvantage of having the xlwb base sprinter. I was thinking from 2017. Also, with the Truma heater would you. Other with the aircon unit or would that just I crease the weight and waste power etc?
The only disadvantage of XLWB is the parking we always have to find longer bays or street parking. Minor inconvenience though. Air con units use a lot of power and are really for motorhomes that will be on hook up on camp sites. We have camped last year in 38°C temp and use reflective window blinds and roof fans. We found it to be cooler in the van.
Greg Virgoe thanks Greg. That’s good to know about the heat and hopefully we will only need some fans and the reflective window cover etc. One last thing I would like to know... (hope you don’t mind) is I recently watched your video about insulation and found it really informative. What I was wondering is the foam insulation better?
The underneath of the van is factory treated with a thick rubberised layer that looked to be sprayed onto the underneath. Anything I have done I have used Waxoyl to protect it from rusting.
Gotta love a perfectionist ! Great job Greg.... And good inspiration too. Ps... Are you building for others yet ? ( Or at least giving a supporting hand ?)
Yes for a long time.. but it's having the confidence to do it. Your videos are a great help and inspiration. The wife is doubtful though hahaha. Time will tell and there has to be more to life ? It really depends how well the engine has been looked after and what type of driving it has been subjected too. A regularly service engine with proof of regular oil changes etc and steady motorway miles can go on your thousands of miles.
At the end of day an engine can be changed so the condition of the body work and chassis is very critical as a lot of cans do rust very easily. If you can get a clean van with service history that is the best option.
Thank you for a great comment.

As an electrician I can only commend your use of the “right gear for the job” I’m close to purchasing my van and as the lockdown is now at level 2 here in New Zealand, I’m now able to travel around to shop for the bits I need for my build. Cheers mate
Thanks very much for great feedback 👍🏼😃
Great work again.
I'd be wary of the drain tap bracket. You need to insulate the steel screws from the stainless bracket to avoid galvanic corrosion. Another method is a 2 piece bracket with the lower section being sacrificial. Only highlighting as I came across this very issue on a van last week. The LPG filler was mounted in the same way and had corroded the sill to the pint of collapse.
Top job, attention to detail is first class as always.
Thanks very much Daniel. 😃
Love the roding eye .Just shows this was not put together by micky mouse .All back up situations thought in detail .
Hi Greg great to see another good well informed video from you. Hope all is well with you and your back on the road again soon . Greetings from Holland
I was wondering how you did this. I'm currently converting my van at the minute. These videos are great, thank you.
Jack Teece this was a missing piece of the puzzle. Hope it helps you.
Brilliant. Thanks so much.
Bit late to the party, have a look at the Hep20 non return traps. They can replace any trap or the dreaded running traps. Great help and thanks for taking the time to share..
I’m familiar with those traps. I have found that they don’t always seal perfectly every time and can lead to smells coming back up the drain
@@GregVirgoe Iv not had issue with them… in a domestic setting that is. As this is our first conversion I will take that on board and go with the set up of someone who knows from experience. Great vids, thanks again…

Thank you Jens. I appreciated your continued support for the channel. Cheers 🍻
The king of self build camper vans
Thanks for this very informative video. Especially usefull with info about where to buy tanks. Because you have a trap under the van (over the prop shaft) you could have dispensed with the bottle trap under the sink. It would give a little more usable cupboard space.
Yes, that is absolutely correct I am doubled up on the sink traps.
@@GregVirgoe The advantage being you could fix any blockages without getting underneath the van ?
Brilliant Greg, thank you. Great to see the water system under your van .... finally 😂😊👍 . Totally understand why you didn’t film this, such an awkward area. Having chatted with you along the way, we’ve found your comments suggestions invaluable. For the uninitiated out there this is next level and your ‘belt and braces’ approach ensures longevity of systems with not having to replace items later on. Love the rodding eye suggestion. Keep up the great works bud 👍😊 Cheers
Thanks Paul, we have loved following the progress in your build and must say you have done an amazing job it really does look first class 👍🏼🤩😎🚌
Great work as usual Greg thanks. I’m in the process of installing my water system at the moment. Just waiting for my tank to arrive from CAK. I’m putting my fresh water tank inside as we use our vans in winter a lot so need to keep it warm. Very useful video this thanks.
It’s a good idea and will look forward to watching your videos soon. 😃👍🏼
Brilliant. As always. Thanks for turning the van upside down so we can see properly. 😉
Good point about backflow from sink to shower.
Cheers Greg for putting this video up will be a great help to me when I get round to doing my van conversion 👍
David Darling no problem I hope it helps you. 👍🏼😊

Good to see you again Great tips Greg , like the idea of the 7 core wire 😀
The kit that cane was just not long enough so a few meters of 7 core done the trick. 👍🏼😃
Great detailed videos and explanations Greg . Thanks very much for your efforts in sharing your knowledge. Much appreciated. 👍
You are welcome. Thank.you for watching 👍🏼😊
Very clear content as always 👍 creating a trap in both pipes is such a good idea, no nasty smells 😊
Yes exactly that. The water still runs away but some is held in the low points to stop smells from the tank coming back into the van. We often just put a bit of disinfectant down there to keep everything fresh. 👍🏼😃
great... the missing link.. Thanks! Thumbs up! Exactly what I was looking for! Now I am confident to get on our Crafter :)
Best explanation on all subjects..helped me out loads on my build. Thank you
Glad it helped. Thank you for taking the time to comment 👍🏼
Absolutely bob on, Greg. I've done almost the exact same. Could never work out why they come out the factory with those tiny 22-23mm wastes. Also whacked 2 40mm Floplast Tank connectors and ran it all in 40mm waste with a rodding point - up there for thinking! 🤓🙏
Sounds like a cracking system and you’ll have no issues with that at all. Top job! 😃
We did that in our installation and show using a vacuum to feed the string through first. We also have PVC trunking for cables in the floor void.
Greg,
So helpful thanks from California!

You are welcome Philip thanks for watching 👍🏼
Great video greg, im installing grey water tank today. This will help a lot.
Bramish EU what great timing. Hope it helps you.
Thanks Greg, yet another informativ video 🙏
@@GregVirgoe would the propane tank be mounted horizontally if outside under the van?
julie hughes there are two types of refillable cylinder for under the van.

Yes, in two years of use we have not had any issues with the water system at all
Thanks for the link to the waste Greg I have been looking for agent to find one
They is one question I get a lot where I got the extended waste from. I really should be on commission. 🤩👍🏼
Excellent!! Thank you 😊
Glad you liked it 😃
Cheers Greg, it's good to see how you've routed the pipes and it's also good to hear how you'd do things differently. I'm contemplating an internal fresh tank, mostly because my van has a stupid adblue tank where your waste is situated and I know that a good spin off is the lack of freezing, but I just begrudge the amount of garage space it will take up..lol 😂 ❤💙❤💙❤💙❤
I would get a long tank and sit it over the wheel arch.
Then put my batteries the other side to counter balance the weight.
@@GregVirgoe that's a great idea..I was thinking of having a custom one across between the wheel arches, but my batteries are over near the front of the offside arch, so this would be a better route.. Brilliant.! Thanks for that.! 😊👍
Brilliant design, execution and presentation, as always, Greg. I hope that you, Lou and the rest of the family are all keeping well at home in the UK.

Great explanation and video as usual.
Thank you 😊
As always a great informative video Greg.
@@GregVirgoe Cheers! I'll check that out.
Another great helpful video Greg! Thanks!

Great work Greg!

It was the biggest that would not overhang the shower wall. We still manage to catch it occasionally. 😝😬
Greg could you please go through how to make the grey tank winterized?
You have a couple of options. Insulate it by wrapping the tank and Pipework externally. Or you can install a 12v frost heater or trace heating tape which comes on to keep the tank from freezing when it’s cold. CAK Tanks can help with the parts.
Greg Virgoe Thanks Greg for the swift response. Which of the two options would you prefer?
Hi Greg, great video as always...would appreciate a little guidance on the Thetford sink waste. Noticed you used the 11/4 trap under the sink, how did you connect this to the sink? I can't seem to find a suitable waste that fits the Argent sink with a 11/4 outlet to fit onto the trap. It's only a small hole in the sink (40mm hole with 60mm flange) Thanks Gary
I used a 1” 1/4” chrome basin waste and a matching shallow bottle trap. 👍🏼😃

Another great video Greg. I see that you made the shower connection to the top of tank but did you have any issues with grey water running back into the shower tray when the was tank nearing capacity. Did you ever consider fitting an NRV or some kind of flap valve in line on the shower waste pipe?

I'd be interested in how you have found servicing the Sprinter as I've heard it is the most expensive van to have serviced because you have to use a Mercedes garage. Also, if you have any feedback on your van type for those of us that are still trying to figure which van to buy.
Black Water you don’t have to use a Mercedes dealer for servicing. I have had work done in general garages where labour is cheaper. I did the brake discs and pads myself and the parts only cost me £211
The sprinter has been very reliable. In two years we have had the van it’s done 20000 miles and only required regular servicing.
Most major fleet owners use this van and there must be a reason for it being so widely used. For me personally the only other van I would consider is the Fiat Ducato for the additional cargo space.

hi Greg, your videos are fantastic, regarding the grey waste tank, should it be vented?
Here is a link. www.gasit.co.uk/gasit-vapour-gas-refillable-products.html
I would still put the waste tank underneath as waste pump is something I can see going wrong regularly.
@@GregVirgoe Just wondering what you mean by waste pump?
Tom you can get waste water pumps and maceraters to pump waste water up into a high level tank if you cannot get it away by gravity. You often get them for bathrooms in basements or in remote location where a normal drain is not possible.
@@GregVirgoe so you have one installed in your waste tank that you can turn on at flick of switch

Hi Greg your looking well ,I was just wondering , have you put some rust protection under the van if so what would you recommend, all the best .🙂
