Watching this reminded me of the quote (which is always wrongfully attributed to Marilyn Monroe) "if you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best". I've always thought that was a great way to put it 😊 It's so nice to see how supportive Si is, I really feel that it helps to have people like that around. I think this is an important video as I think it can be very hard for the people around someone who has mental health issues x
Thanks lovely Anja. He tries and thats the main thing. Its hard for anyone to understand another person completely, but anyone that gives it a go is a goody xxx
And I noticed that you were asking Si a lot if he felt like you were a bother to him or that he felt in a way disappointed in having "found out" you struggle with depression. I just wanted to share my own experience in that regard with you. I tend to get very overwhelmed by the world which makes me feel anxious about a lot of things. My boyfriend is the exact opposite, I have never even seen him slightly anxious about anything. And I have to say I worried about letting him see how anxious I really can get about the smallest things. needless to say after 3 years of being a couple and living together its no longer a secret. We spoke about it one day, it started off with me apologising about my anxiety and his response was....."Don't apologise....your one of the most intelligent people I know, you analyse everything that you encounter in your life and its the biggest thing that impresses me about you everyday....its no wonder that the way your mind works over whelms you at times". I think we worry a lot about what we consider as our flaws and we forget to see that our flaws correlate with our strengths in others eyes. Its all part of what makes us unique and well ...us. i wish I had realised that a bit sooner.
How refreshing to see 2 people in love. I agree and I am the one with ME. I am a loyal partner . Dating is a challenge yet, I agree, that when we care beyond illness with our partner it doesn't matter which one is ill , I will be there for them as well , connection with each other and communication is essential. Love is not based on condition more on the person/Soul.
It's great how simon goes around with the whole thing and with you ! big respect to you both. Sophie your are a strong woman please never forget that and when you have days where you don't feel good please think about the good days or good memories or the beautiful things in your life. It's an Important Video I think. I love you xx
Thankyou for openly speaking about this. It's so lovely to see a couple that support and care for each other through thick and thin and share coping mechanisms about a subject that isn't really talked about much xxx
It's such a big part of having an illness. I know I've felt so much guilt about how it impacts others and also worried that no one will want to be around it, so I knew I wouldn't be the only one. Hope you're doing ok, lots of love xxx
Hats off to both of you for filming this - communication really is key with any relationship, and especially important for those who suffer with mental health issues!
This was really lovely to watch - and I reckon he's a keeper Sophie, so hold on tight!! I've have never been lucky in love so feel so very happy for you and Simon and a beautiful future together - warts and all! Love to you both X
Sorry to hear that Linda, but theres definitely a lot to be said about having independance and being happy with yourself. Sending love to you as always xx
Sophie Eggleton - you're welcome. I am a single fulltime Dad so it is helpful and interesting to hear about two people in a relationship sharing their lives together. I have been raising my son on my own since he was just 4 years old, so for a long time my fulltime relationship is with him, but as he gets older maybe it will be the right time for things to change. Thanks again for sharing and for the well wishes. I hope things are going great for you, too.
Big respect to Si for doing this with you! What a hero :) x
I'll pass this on. Thanks Chris xx lots of love
