Phil....Wayne Rowley checking in. I'll be up on Owens River next week. I'm going to try out a 5'6" and 7' fly rod. My theory is...small river, small rods. I've got multiple 9' rods/weights, good for big water. I'll let you know how the short rods work.
Hi Nicole, those should work well on a jig hook. I have done that with a few of my boatman patterns with good results. You just have to remember to tie them upside down as they ride inverted in the water. Cheers, Phil
Hi, use this pattern to suggest boatman. Backswimmers are larger and have different coloration, light back, and dark bellies. I do however often partner up this pattern with a backswimmer pattern, such as my Greater Water Floatman, on a two fly rig. You can find the tying instructions for the Greater Water Floatman on my channel. Thanks, Phil
Nice fly Phil. Thank you for the hotspot tip!
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed my video.

I'm going to tie some of these 'reverse' style on a jig hook. Thanks, Phil!

@@PhilRowleyFlyFishing Yes! Thanks.
very good.
So, Phil: do you use this pattern interchangeably for both boatmen AND backswimmers, simply varying the size?
