Also, my favorite metals to collect & invest in currently put in order of my #1 down the list: Graded Coins (Capped Bust, Seated Liberty, Morgans & Barbers), Gold (because it's awesome & portable), Silver (the work horse of metals, some opportunity here), Paper fiat (old cash from both America & Countries abroad) & Alternative metals (copper being king, but all metal has value)!

Oh yeah! LOVE Mexican and Spanish Colonial silver. Did a 5-part series on it! Those 1957 to 1967 pesos? Less silver than a 90% dime! Good stuff, Pirate. Fun video!

Yeah that miss labeled one is a Libertad. It is an 84, they started in 82. Love Libertads. My favorite. Next time you are at a coin show, look for a reverse proof. Never met a reverse proof kilo Libertad I didn’t love ❤️

I love Mexican coins . Those are all 1 pesos from Mexico. They contain 10% silver and have Jose Maria Morelos on them. He was a priest who led a revolt against Spanish rule in 1813. He was captured and shot in 1816 and is considered not only a martyr but a revolutionary hero, once Mexico becames independent from Spanish rule in 1821.

I’ve got some fractional Libertads and a few One Peso Silver coins. They’re not my first choice, but I don’t pass em up when I come across em.

The Golden Eagle with the snake is the Obverse of Mexican coins. The beautiful Winged Angel of Victory on the Libertad is actually the reverse of the coin. I try to buy at least one silver Libertad and a gold Dos Pesos at every coin show I go to. Keep your eye out for proof Libertads. They are beautiful and usually reasonably priced.

Mexican coins are cool. Like you that iconic Eagle/Snake design is pure bad ass! I'd love some Onza's. I have nine. I do have some newer 1oz. Libertads but that it. Cool stuff!!

Great minds think alike. I just made a vid about this on Sunday. I’m super curious how the libertad has such a huge following and success. Makes me wonder why they didn’t try to make another iconic coin. They need to make one with Antonio Banderas on the front and Salma Hayek on the back.😂

Mexican coins have so many various weights of silver content. I've got coinage that spans 450 years. So I guess I'm Mexi-can

It really is such a great design!
There are clad 1000 pesos coins - they have Juana de Abate on them. She was a nun who lived in the 17th century in Mexico and was very knowledgeable about the sciences and humanities at a time when learning was discouraged for women. These coins were made in the late 1970s and early to mid 1980s at the height of inflation, when the Mexican peso spiralled downward.

I really like Mexican 90% and Canadian 80% but I discovered liquidity issues and so have steared more toward US junk. But it's cool stuff for sure. And maybe now days Id consider collecting some vs trying to stack it in quantity as I tried before.
Yeah as far as space and volume goes it sucks for sure... But to stick it in a treasure chest full of coins or for me, with a tiny stack, they make me feel rich!

I have a 1957 commemorative Mexican 10 pesos which is 72% silver and which has Benito Juarez, the first indigenous person to serve as president of Mexico from 1857 to 1872. He inaugurated the Ley de Juarez or the Law of Juarez which separated church and state.
Now that is an awesome sounding coin! I need to find some old mexican silver and gold for my collection!

I have one libertad. I line it. But my favorites are the Krugerands.

I have lots of Mexican silver - a 1948 5 pesos silver coin thats 90% silver with Cuahtemoc, the last Aztec emperor on it. Then I have a 1960 25 pesos which is 72% silver and has Father Miguel Hidalgo, a Mexican priest who led the 1810 revolt against Spanish rule and Francisco Madero who led the 1910 revolt that ignited the modern Mexican revolution.

Nice looking Mexican coins. I do have a couple of the Libertad, each design. They are great looking coins. Mexico demonetized their money in 1993, so anything minted before that, are not worth what their money is that's been minted after 1993.
Oh wow that is crazy that they demonetized it only 30 years ago... Values in the silver and gold I suppose. Great coins though for sure, I really like their designs! Thanks for the info!
I have no Mexican silver. They're cool looking. I would get some of the '1 Onza' coins, if the price is right. The Libertads are overpriced. They can keep those.
Yeah the Libertads are spendy, but they're pretty to look at. I only got the one i did cause it was the price of a generic!
