From what I understand of this video, the hair stylist already have an established background a team behind his back. His reputation within the industry is big enough that he cannot risk ruining it over improper techniques, laziness and lack of quality
For Chinese hair stylists, this is also an international arena. Athletes from different countries have their own understanding of style and fashion, and it is enough to prove that you are great if athletes from different countries are satisfied with your skills.

asian hairdressers are the best. as a frugal guy who use to spend 10 dollars a haircut and never going back, i now spend 30 dollars and gone back for years to my asian guy

I applaud for the range of services offered inside the Olympic villages. Working from 6am to 11pm is really long hours. This would violate labor laws in many countries.

Getting a haircut in Beijing is awesome. Basic standard is to wash you hair twice, massage your scalp, and take quite some time with the haircut.
I can never get that kind of services in the states.
