  • FOUR F-35 warplanes sent from the Netherlands to NATO ally Bulgaria arrived at the Graf Ignatievo airbase on Wednesday (April 6).
    Bulgaria's defence ministry said the planes were sent to help with its air-policing tasks amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
    The Dutch warplanes, along with Bulgarian MiG-29 fighter jets, will help protect the airspace of the Black Sea country until May 31, in line with NATO's integrated plan for air and anti-missile defence.
    They will replace four Spanish fighter jets that have been supporting airspace surveillance of Bulgaria since the middle of February.
    Bulgaria, on NATO's eastern flank, is also setting up a battlegroup of up to 1,000 troops in close cooperation with the alliance.

    I think the arrival of these planes is meant to free up Bulgarian MiG-29s that would then be provided to Ukraine. Same with the US military vehicles that just arrived in Poland. Replacement weapons is the first step in supplying Ukraine with existing weapons. Also its best if the US isn't seen directly supplying Ukraine but that its a joint operation involving numerous other European countries.

      Unfortunately not. The current government is very pro- russian oriented (is dominated by the Communist) and have ruled out all weapon deliveries to Ukraine. Sadly the planes are at the very end of their lifecycle, Russia being the single party able to maintain and repair our MiG-29. The government would rather send the planes to the garbage than provide them to the Ukranians. Just FYI, I am Bulgarian.

    A 4 year old boy was arrested from the kindergarten by the military on the 5 April. The soldiers went to the kindy and ordered the teacher and the kids to kneel down on the floor. The boy’s parents were hiding from the military, so he lives with his grandfather. The teacher refused to hand over the boy and said she would adopt the boy. The soldiers ignored her plea and yanked the frightened boy from her and arrested. The frightened boy frantically resisted the arrest, and was screaming and crying while being dragged away. He’s only 4! No, it’s not in Bucha, Ukraine. It was in Yangon, Burma (Myanmar). In Burma, people were burnt alive, houses were burned down, people were shot dead for walking in the streets, money and jewelleries were robbed by the soldiers, rice and food were burned by pouring petrol on them, soldiers killed people with impunity, and shoot the towns and villages with heavy artilleries for no reasons. People in Burma are living in hell every day under the cruel and ruthless military regime. People of Burma support the people of Ukraine and they stand together in solidarity with the Ukrainians. The people of Burma and the people of Ukraine are in the similar situations. The only difference is that people in Burma are fighting against the military regime virtually with hunting rifles. Although the people of Burma do not get the ammunitions like stingers, javelins, nlaws and the military support like Ukraine, they are happy that Ukraine is helped effectively by the nations around the world. May the President Zelenskyy and the heroic people of Ukraine defeat the invading Russian marauders!

      Rambo (2008) was set in Burma and did a great job of showing what those poor people go through. the F-35 really is insane but the best advantage it has in a defence scenario in my eyes, if the enemy bombs the runway and taxiways the F-35 can do VTOL and get into the air quickly like a helicopter very dope

    • @Tiger313NL
      @Tiger313NL 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is incorrect. The F-35 comes in three different types: normal conventional configuration (F-35A), V/STOL configuration (F-35B) and naval configuration (F-35C). These Dutch aircraft are F-35A's, which operate solely from land bases. Of the three types, this one will be built the most.
      The F-35B can indeed take off and land vertically, and can be operated from ships using the STOVL system. Then the F-35C has slightly larger, folding wings, and is specifically designed to operate from carriers using the CATOBAR system.

    The F35 has gotten a ton of negative coverage (in hindsight much of this was likely pushed foreign money... ccp and soviets) but it is unbelievably important we have this plane available to fight now. When you learn about the capabilities (just the public ones) and how this plane is meant to be used (it doesn't do the dogfighting) this will absolutely dominate the air. There's a ton I could add here to back this up but one example are the autonomous jets that are already flying. They haven't been sent for mass production as of yet but given the situation I am sure programs such as this, amongst many others, will have a new sense of global urgency. In a nut shell, in the next 15 years more or less, most naval and air combat will be done with autonomous fleets each with specific uses to best fit the situation. The army and marines will be essentially cyborgs to fight the ground game assisted with significant autonomous gear/equipment/vehicles (ex: suicide drones, artillery assisted with drones, etc.). One last really amazing weapon will be the laser which is already in military use in many different forms

    • @Tiger313NL
