- my friend sent me a playlist themed around being a charming, clever villain and this song just so happened to be on it. the first time i listened through the song i got obsessed and the tune wouldn't leave my head for days! i love the whimsical spirit of the piano accompaniment, and i'm always here for mischievous villain vibes.
also, you might have noticed that this video has far more editing than my videos usually have. at first, i didn't know what to use for the visual element in my cover, and then i remembered my art friend, fatima, and their oc, deirdre. she was gracious enough to let me use her art in another one of my covers, and as i got to editing, inspiration struck. thus, we have this fun video!
don't get too used to it though lol. while i love editing stuff like this, i don't always have as much time to do it as i'd like. anyways, hope y'all enjoy the cover!

The Big Bad Dark Lord of the D&D world I've been running since 2009 (for different parties at different points of history) fits this trope.
He does some genuinely terrible stuff... But his reasons are justified, and his personality is charming and quirky enough that a lot of players double take and have to consider if he is wrong. Some have joined him, others have just walked away and let him continue working on his goals.
He is the hero of his own tale, and very good at telling his story.

I love this version because it gives off a more "strong" villain vibe, like a villain lecturing a hero on the truth of the world where in the original version, its more of a subtle vibe, it gives the vibe of a villain operating underground.

This song actually gives me some peace of mind. I've spent so many years of my life worrying about how my actions and words would affect others due to past experience, but this song helps me accept that you can't exactly help how others perceive you and that's ok.
We all have our dark sides and our light sides. Even if we feel that our decisions are pointless or end up hurting someone, it's not the end of the world. Nobody's perfect and that's ok, we're all just trying to exist.

This actually goes well with one of my OCs, because she is a cult leader who's footsteps walked in again by another young girl who has recently been given godly powers. Her own child was also been given the same powers and the child knows what's going to happen and is trying to stop the young girl from becoming her mom and save the world. And with that it feels like her mother would be singing this with the young one.
I know this was a lot to read sorry about that.

I love this so much. I know I say this a lot in this song, but it feels like a song the true vision would sing to a hero who isn't completely innocent. whether it's from the hero's past or their present actions. great job
not gonna lie that's kinda why i don't really cre about the whole good and evil thing, i don't want to be some savior, nor some destroyer, i don't want to be some martyr, nor some psychopath, i just want to live my life happily without worrying about anything and do what feels right
This reminds me of when I was in 5th grade. I quite literally gave up on trying to be good because I found I would get away with being bad whilst I would get punished for trying to do the right thing and explain myself. Yes, my school was a hellhole.
I had a similar problem except I got punished either way. It didn't matter if I was being bad or good, I always got punished in some way or another, even when I was in highschool.
I still tried to be nice because I didn't see much of a point in being rude to those who hadn't done anything to me, and I wanted to treat others better than I was, but that doesn't change how pointless it felt to do anything, knowing how little my choices would matter in the end.
See the thing about being a hero or a villain is all about perspective. If you have two waring countries each will have their champions, their heroes, but to the other country aka their enemy. The enemy heroes will be demeaned villain’s just because their are fighting for their own country against yours.
If your really want to get into shades of gray you can start to look at groups of people who protect all people, vs groups who protect a specific group and not others. Is the group that protects only a specific group of people bad? Technically they are doing good for the people they are protecting but from the prospective of the people they turn away they look bad. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems.
excuse me but who the hell dislike this, how could you dislike this cover. i don't know about anybody else but this cover so far is my favorite one so far (Korean and english cover) it brings out a different emotion from the original, it feels more free and badass. truthfully this is the first time i came across your channel but i am sold to your content :)

Thank you so very much for this Justine! I am a veteran TTRPG player and GM, and was scouring a way to translate a NPC to my party in a meaningful and impactful way that gave subtext to the campaign. This resonated so perfectly with my thoughts that I had to incorporate it into the main plot and a character arc for one my players. The song catches, hooks, and drags you in, I love it!
