I swear parents do this just to see the kids hilarious reactions. The good old days they found out when the baby came home and I can tell you that the minute they saw their siblings they were happy as a clam.

When I was six I asked for a sibling and didn't care about the gender at all. It wouldn't make a difference in their personality or our relationship. I'm from Europe where gender reveals aren't a thing and this is hilarious.

I feel like a lot of these reactions are from siblings whose opposite-gender siblings already outnumber them. That’s completely valid, IMO. It’s hard when your siblings have a built-in way to bond and you don’t.
