    I just wanted to recommend if you ever want to garden, keep the bamboo you’ve cut down, dry it out, and use them as DIY stakes in the garden. It’ll save tons of money not having to buy ones. Love your work!

      I was going to comment the same. Bamboo stakes add up quite quickly price wise.

      I’m so happy someone had an idea to reuse the bamboo trees. My heart ached when I saw MaCenna dragging that beautiful tree. I have a friend that makes flutes, jewelry and other items with them. And he’s always looking out to get those trees that fall or are taken out to reuse them in his art.

    I just want to say about the cats that I highly recommend you contact a Trap Neuter Release program (TNR). Female cats can get pregnant at just a few months old so the population will explode. And there will be inbreeding so you'll start to see some very tragic kittens. The TNR people will come and help the colony, find homes for the kittens, and give any medical care needed

    Hi MaCenna,
    I would recommend that you do not "cut" the length of your new Walmart curtains in case you should choose to use them in another area later. It would be too bad if they ended up being just short of reaching the floor in let's say, the guest house later. You could simply turn up the hem to your desired length and then iron and stitch. Since they are temporary, this quick fix should be just fine. Blessings for a great day! 😇

    • @jmk1962
      @jmk1962 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Or use iron on wonderweb so no stitching required and you can just undo it at a later date if you want them longer.

    It’s looking good 💗 when you hem the bottom of the curtains you can take that material and make tie backs. It’s nice to have your parents. Potassium is good for roses, they love bananas 🍌 peels, I throw them at the foot of the root of rose plant, and chop them up the soil underneath the rose Bush and bury. They will bloom with in 2 weeks.

    I HIGHLY recommend Half Priced Drapes when you go to purchase permanent window shades. Comes in lots of lengths and are absolutely beautiful. I have their faux linen in my living room and they look way more expensive than they are. I have an 11 foot long window in my living room so I needed minimum 4 panels at 50” wide. I got the 96” length. My ceilings are 8.5’ tall, so I installed them as high up as I could and still have a break at the floor, and it makes my ceilings look so much more dramatically tall.

    When you're finishing leveling out the soil, I suggest you pull the soil away from the trunks of your trees. Building up soil up onto the trunks can cause problems with the bark rotting, diseases, and pests for the trees. You should keep the soil level around the base of the tree the same as it was before, while grading the area surrounding that to allow water to continue away from the trunk - don't want pooling water around the trunk either if it becomes significantly lower than the rest of the yard.

    the bamboo makes such a beautiful division between your house and the neighbors and gives you some privacy which is really nice. but it's so invasive. consider eventually putting a concrete brick or something block on the inside edge of the bamboo to keep it from invading into the grass or whatever you want to put in your yard. that might help keep you from fighting it so badly. they have it as an edge on a beautiful little courtyard in downtown Plano. and that's how they've kept it from escaping. it's so pretty.

    I've been looking at houses in the UK on youtube...(.just for fun, to see the differences in theirs vs ours) and one thing I saw that I really liked was heavy curtains over exterior doors that have lots of windows in them. They would be good for both winter and summer. They had big heavy rods over the doors and nice thick "velvety" curtains.....really a cool idea!! We do it over sliding glass doors, but not on other doors..

    Glad you got curtains- much safer when you are there alone. I totally agree with Emerald about not cutting the drapes! You might even be able to use them on a double curtain rod as a "liner" to protect your "real" drapes when you get them, and they may also shrink. Things are starting to move along at a nice pace, don't you feel? Have a great week.

    I would fold this in half, the long way, cut and seam. Then it would give you two panels per window, for light flow. I love your channel, thanks for sharing your journey with us.

    and Mrs T Great work with what you got done so far. The curtains look great and they make the windows look so high end from the outside good choices.. they will deff be useful in other places if you choose to use them keep them the length will be better in the long run, The outside is looking so nice even now and when the landscape happens the WOW factor will sent it

    I have a 6x9 front window in my 2nd floor condo. The people in the 2nd & 3rd floor across from me can see into my fishbowl. I also used the tension rods. My curtains are a bit long, so I folded over the top and used sewing straight pins horizontally to give them a ruffle. That way I can use them elsewhere without cutting them.
