Hey Skip, the "rain catch" for the sprinklers, ABSOLUTELY works. There is a sponge that sits in that circle and if wet it will way down a trigger piece and hold back the sprinklers. I have had one for 20 years and love it. So yes it works. Just an FYI.
When we went on our Lifestyle visit in June one of the homes we looked at was a Sycamore and we really like the layout of the home. We're a few years away from retirement and after our visit to The Villages, it is currently our top choice to retire to.
Nice tour....I really like that model....We may have to take a trip down to check out the villages...T-2yrs and counting till DH retires! Daughter is in Florida....so Florida, here we come!
the plug for the dryer is there for the motor (110V) on gas models - if you have an electric dryer, it requires 220V which is usually round and 3 or 4 prongs - they would have to install the proper outlet that matches the dryer if one wanted that hooked up
Nice video, please tell Scott thank you for allowing us to see his new house. Very nice front porch, can see myself in a tall rocker there. Like this Sycamore model also. Definitely, like the gas stove for sure! Thank you for another great video. Hope your day has the sun in it and is VERY warm!
Love the Sycamore model, especially that front porch. I hope Dawn and Scott have many great times in their new home. Thanks for another great video, Skip, and thanks to Dawn and Scott for letting the video be filmed in their home.
Very nice home. The front porch reminds there me of the front veranda that we had in our former home up in Sydney NSW Australia. Since that time, because of the crime worsening, the veranda has been walled in completely, but when we were there it was open like on this house in this video.
Congratulations to the new home owners, beautiful home. I've seen the Villages on a tv commercial but my husband likes the condo's in Panama City Beach we go there every year except this year due to Michael had to cancel. We're in our 70's and live in Arkansas
Did you notice there are no phone jacks, most people have cell phones, so they don't install phone jacks on new homes anymore, or you can order them when the house is being built.
@@TheVillagesSkipSmith, do you live in the new area? I read on either TOTV or Nextdoor that this is true for the new area; you have to pay to have a phone jack installed. The homes might come with a jack in the kitchen. Better check that out.
Please note that when Scott was in the backyard, the house with the bushes ALL AROUND the backyard is not allowed (unless they changed the restrictions) because we are not allowed to have a hedge all the way around the back yard. Many people have bushes that are large at maturity, planted along the back for privacy. These houses have more backyard space than usual.
Hi Skip. We love your show. We're having a home built in DeSoto. Closing 10-22. It's an Iris. You're welcome to do your walk through before it's furnished if you like. I could even tell your viewers about the entire custom build/design experience for those are considering building new.
Skip Smith I certainly would have been happy to have you video our new home, but we were a bit wrapped up in getting it all together. It wasn’t easy. This was the toughest move for us as a number of problems occurred. We’re happy now in our Mossy Oak model and enjoy all the activities that the Villages offer. We can’t express enough how helpful and informative your videos were to us. Our sincere thanks. 😀👍❤️
Skip, i think i figured out your question about an already visible electrical plug for a gas dryer and then a covered electrical outlet if you choose an electrical dryer. The visible plug is for the electronic controls for a gas or electrical dryer. But, it;s not enough voltage to power an electrical dryer. If they choose an electrical dryer, then they will prepare the 240v plug in addition. Great video!
Skip, I just happened across your video. I'm not a doctor, but I'm concerned about how short of breath you are while speaking. Please see a medical professional if you haven't already. ❤
I'm not sure if you can swap it out... Good question to ask the realtor. In my area we where allowed to swap out all appliances for upgrades and pay the difference. Bailey appliances was the company used here...
Surprised they don't make the screened in porch area in back at least a couple feet wider - seems like you can't get much more than a few chairs and a small table out there.
Skip, unfortunately, the tankless water heaters are anything but instant. It takes running the water for a couple minutes before it gets hot. "Endless hot water" would be the better way to describe it, as once it gets hot, it will stay hot for as long as you'd like.
Ok I did a little research and while it doesn’t happen very often in The Villages it does on occasion get well below freezing like January 4th of 2012 when it got down to 21 degrees overnight. What happens to these water lines going to the tankless water heaters hanging on the outside of these new homes when that happens?
Hi Skip. Thanks for this video. We are closing on our Sycamore in Monarch Grove on Tuesday. I have a question about a neighbor's house in this video. It showed just a short video of a neighbor that put in pavers and a stone wall. I would like to do that to my yard but I don't have enough information (or video) of what it looks like and who would do it for me. Can you expand on that for me?
There are many companies that can do that for you... Stick with a major company that has an office. Here is one you can call or go to there office to discuss.. The Villages Palms Tell them I recommended them
I hear squeaking noise thru out video is that smoke detectors and what in the living room is it that looks like a drain in the middle of the carpet? thanks
Thanks. The reason I asked is because The Villages will NOT allow you to put wood floors in the "wet areas" which include the bath and kitchen - "flooring manufacturers wont guarantee their product" - yea right! Didn't seem to bother them when they built my house in Georgia. Having said that when I was at the design center you had to actually touch the vinyl to tell it wasn't wood - not your Grandparents vinyl of 40 years ago!
Skip, I looked for a way to send you a message but I couldn't find anyway. I enjoyed your tour but as I listened to you I became concerned about your breathing. It is none of my business, I know but if you have not had your lungs checked, please do. Sorry for intruding but I am worried.
I like it at least in the bedrooms. A lot of people are installing luxury vinyl planks that look like wood. I rent a patio villa and have it here. Too hard for my bones. lol
Yes, that is a narrow lanai. They will probably bump it out and enclose it either with sliders or make it a Florida room(which adds to your sq footage & taxes because of heat/air).
300k dollar home? That's just a plain shame. The quality of the products used thoughout the interior and exterior is very very basic, and just downright cheap. You can get an mobile homes built nearly the same.
Its a southern thing with no gutters... People from the north gets them installed... The siding on any home here is in no way reflective on the price !!!
Cheap cabinets! Whirlpool appliances cheap break down after 5yrs! And who wants to look out living room window to see neighbors backporch??? Way too close!! Do not like at all.
As he said it's windy out here.....in the summer 1998 67 of Florida's 68 counties AL had lightning fires at the same time the smoke was so severe they canceled Daytona 500. Palm Beach country was the on,y County not on fire yet the smoke for days was so severe I could open my front door for but a few seconds to keep some breathable in the house to cool and recirculate. FRAUDULA is a scary state to live in

Thanks for the new Home tour! The Sycamore is one of my fav models. Congrats to the new home owners.

LOVE THE IDEA OF A FRONT PORCH THEY MAKE IT LOOK MORE FRIENDLY
Very nice home. The front porch reminds there me of the front veranda that we had in our former home up in Sydney NSW Australia. Since that time, because of the crime worsening, the veranda has been walled in completely, but when we were there it was open like on this house in this video.

congrats on the new House, love the porch as well. Good job showing us around Skip.
Very nice, thank you both(Skip and the homeowner).
I enjoy this vlog. The price is good. I am sure this house comes with extra cost.
Did you notice there are no phone jacks, most people have cell phones, so they don't install phone jacks on new homes anymore, or you can order them when the house is being built.
I got phone jacks in my new home... Most do because of cable packages include a home phone

Nice home. Thank you Scott and Skip.
Nice home although I’m not a fan of the kitchen cabinets. Had those in my new starter home in the 80s. Expensive to replace all those cabinets!

If I am here I would love to... Check in with me when you are here.
Nice video, Skip. We’ve been busy getting settled in down here in Fenney. Best of luck to the owners. 😀👍
And the Beat goes on !😅

Nice. I would opt for hard flooring in Florida. The transition strips from hard to carpet are no fun.
Skip, I just happened across your video. I'm not a doctor, but I'm concerned about how short of breath you are while speaking. Please see a medical professional if you haven't already. ❤
Nice detail that they wire for an electric and gas dryer
Scott. Congradulation on your new home, absolutely beautiful. Skip a perfect job as always, you re hired. Karen and I wish you nothing but the best.
Are you alright you seem out of breath while your walking around
Lesley Allinson sounds like COPD
It's a sensitive microphone
@@cindyg6407 no,its his breathing,my brother does that.pass smoker????
love new car smell!! lol love the front porch - we come in August for our life style visit - will be looking you up Skip, can't wait
Why do you not go in the front door FIRST?!! i never get a goid feel of the since you always enter thru garage or back!!!
Enjoyed your new home video. Hope to see this model during my visit in September. I like electric stove. Wonder if that is available?
I'm not sure if you can swap it out... Good question to ask the realtor. In my area we where allowed to swap out all appliances for upgrades and pay the difference. Bailey appliances was the company used here...
Skip, could you please do a walk through of a Woodside model? We are thinking of building that model.
Done it !
Surprised they don't make the screened in porch area in back at least a couple feet wider - seems like you can't get much more than a few chairs and a small table out there.
Steve Guyer
Landis are many sizes here. Some are huge with summer kitchens.
Great video.
I will have to look and see if we have that outlet above our kitchen cabinets.
(Never noticed 😗).
Love the front porch.

I agree with Greg! It’s not instant hot water and you have to run the water a bit before it gets hot.
Why is the tankless water heater on the outside of the home and not on the wall of the garage?
Heat pump and gas? So is it heated by electric? Nice size home.
Fantastic tour - thanks Skip for capturing the intricacies and congrats To the new homeowners on your new adventures. Beautiful home

And heat pumps don' work very well under 32.
Heat pumps are not good. You'll be running the supplemental heat strips to keep the house warm and run up on hell of a bill
Thank. You skip where are you located and what is the cost for these beautiful homes I want One stay blessed patriot
The Villages, Fl, 1 hr NW of Orlando. Go to thevillages.com to check out homes.
Lovely. What state is this in?
Florida. 32162 or 32163

What about the vent for the clothes dryer ?
What about it ?
Nice what is the price like?
The price was in the video...
Skip Smith WOW!!! That’s way way way too much for that place!!! Sucking all that retirement money right outta you people!!!
I hear squeaking noise thru out video is that smoke detectors and what in the living room is it that looks like a drain in the middle of the carpet? thanks
I didn't hear anything. That's an outlet in the floor for a lamp since your couch or chair will be near there.
@@barbrn thx
Any idea what the price is on this style home.
It varies. 280 to 320 ish...
What they don't tell you isthat the taxes & bond are eryhigh in Fenny
Nice house. Is the flooring that looks like wood - wood or ceramic tile or vinyl??

Vinyl..

Nice, but very basic. Kitchen looks like 90’. Price would matter.
LOVE IT
Nice home... very cute...a little On the small side, but way to close to neighbors. Zero privacy...😱
sandiebabie1111 yeah but look at the price he paid. They’re practically giving them away.
Yes Kevin Mc, great price for the new home... but I still love a private backyard. I guess The Villages is designed to cozy...
sandiebabie1111 the Villages are definitely not for you:)
question: Are solar panels allowed in The VIllages?
Yes they are
Thanks - Got It!
Wave to my neighbors from my front porch hell no, I would be screaming profanities at them and telling them to keep their dogs off my lawn.
I love the Sycamore House. What villages are they in? And what do they cost?
Newer area .. The Village of Fenny area ..
The shelving in the closets should be a crime. That's what you'd expect in a camper or mobile home. Really a shame.
That's all ?
What’s the monthly maintenance fee for HOA
Good question! I'd be interested in that, also!

It's spelled - Fenney
Heat pump? No it’s an AC outside unit.
No, it's a heat pump. Everyone south of 466a has one..
Get yourself a heart stress test brother!
I have had 3... thanks 4 or concern.. I am fine
Is the Villages community for 55 and over?
Yes
Leavittown 2.0.
I’d rip out all that unhealthy carpet and install porcelain or wooden flooring.
I like it at least in the bedrooms. A lot of people are installing luxury vinyl planks that look like wood. I rent a patio villa and have it here. Too hard for my bones. lol
Bump out screened in poach in rear.

Vinyl siding.. that's just terrible
