I always enjoyed the GSC/HgSs gym battle, it sounds kinda sinister compared to the other gym battle themes.
agreed. this was my main gen as a kid so gyms were so intimidating for me. really miss that factor these days. pokemon reborn gave it back though. in SPADES.
Only thing that would make it better is a gen 5 style "Last Pokemon!" theme
Same, SoulSilver was my first game And I picked chikorita. I was stuck for weeks with the first gym. The gym theme Felt so scary the first Time !!!

amen to that, even without regarding the lance/red theme the HG/SS OST was a bop, but the lance/red theme was just an added bonus tbh
the gym leader theme in GSC is still, in my opinion, the most intimidating sounding gym battle theme in the series. it's always cool to see somebody remaster it. great job!
Yeah, kinda sucks that recent titles lacks the intensity we had in gym themes up to gen 6 (maybe?), and this one in particular goes hard in that direction. Makes you feels as if you're never prepared enough for those fights.
HeartGold & SoulSilver are my favorite pokémon game to this day, and the Jotho region and the music of the games were great as well!

Honestly, HGSS are the best Pokémon games. Cool graphics, Good Story and nice additions since it is a remake. 9.5/10

This theme carries a transition of meaning for me. The first half dozen times I played the game this was a leitmotif of dread because I kept getting my ass handed to me by the gym leaders. I already played both Emerald and Platinum by this point and I didn’t carry that problem with them.
But… after trying new tactics, doing research, learning, adapting, and raising more than a 6 team wonder, the theme became hype for me. No longer was I afraid, now, now it’s the feeling of “I have you in my sights you bastard!”
Would love to hear the Kanto Gym Theme from HGSS remastered next

The intensity of this remix sounds perfect for a Gym Battle! You’ve got the right stuff as always, Zame!
What I like about the gen 2 gym themes is that unlike most other Pokemon games with their upbeat/high energy soundtracks, these ones sound intense and serious. It really fits how hard some of the gyms are there like Whitney, Chuck, and Claire. Gen 2 more than any other always felt the most challenging when it came to gyms, so this theme fits perfectly for that.
I really hope you do an arrangement of the hgss version of the kanto gym leader theme, that song is so chaotic so theres very few remixes of it that exist

I like the addition of the Snare drum. HGSS' gym leader battle theme is my favorite, however I always thought that it lacked it.

I think this is the most intense Gym Leader theme, even to this day. Just too bad that most of their teams are Kanto centered and honestly... pretty easy. I had a Heracross with Guts to take care of Whitney's Miltank lol.
I found johto to be difficult compared to other generations, kanto is kinda hard, Hoenn is meh, sinnoh is easy as crap, unova was challenging, and the rest past is easy

@@Underscore_M I’ve never once struggled with a sinnoh gym leader, and if you effectively train all of your Pokémon for cynthia it’s just not hard

A shame about G/S/C or HG/SS- unless they do some sort of "Let's Go" counterpart to those games, it may be a very long time until we get a soundtrack with modernized sounds like this. It kind of feels like we narrowly missed them by doing "Let's Go" for Gen 1 and the 3DS/Switch remake for Gen 3 onward.
