Does anyone else think that Vikings should play as Vikings, Knights should play as Knights, and Samurai should play as Samurai? I mean it would also make a lot more sense for the faction to fight each other, instead of teams comprising of members of each faction. I'm not looking down on anyone who plays out of their faction (I did it too), I'm just saying it would be a subtle (and immersive) detail that would change the game compleatly. Anyone else agree?

the Katana is less durable than European swords on the basis that it is thinner and designed for cutting flesh and European swords were designated with armored opponents in mind as well the katana isn't meant to take direct hits if one tried to use their katana as a shield then yes there opponent would break it but to say it would break agents somebody's armor is a bit wrong unless you weren't cutting correctly and had been doing so for quite a while I would also like to add that the katana was more of a side arm in war they would be using Yari (spear), Yumi (bows) Nodachi (longsword) and Kanabo (club) as their main weapons
Ultraknight but still the katana is made of incredibly strong and durable metal despite and its thinness it definitely wouldn't snap if it was used as a shield. Maybe it would dent at most. But yes the katana was not designed to block but to do as you described.
I should have added that it's hugely dependent on what it's being struck with and how the wielder receives the strike. if you are holding it on horizontally in accordance with your self to block an overhead strike from another katana direction in front of you then the sword would probably break but even un skilled swordsmen wouldn't do this
Katanas were not made out of a strong steel, atleast most of them. Japan dose not have many natural resourses and the steel they could produce was not as pure and durable as the one produced in europe
wile this is true to some degree the process of refining the metal was refined over time they also did use some fancy forging techniques to make up for this

And not warriors but arena clowns. Creative director should be fired for this.

Because you asked for it (I'm not going to nitpick about time periods or regions like Romans vs Samurai or anything, that's just the game. This is about practicality and historically accurate weapons/armor 1. Warden's armor isn't accurate or practical. He doesn't even have a real breastplate, it's plate mail but with lots of gaps and such where chainmail and even bare gambeson are exposed. 2. Warden's helm doesn't have enough holes for proper ventilation, you'd pass out after a while. 3. Not everyone wore gauntlets but armor for your arms is a different story when it comes to western knights. Conqueror needs some arm protection. (Some of his gear has some so that's better) 4. Conqueror needs a shorter chain and a longer handle for his flail. The idea is for it to be proportioned so that the ball can't hit the hand that's wielding it by accident. 5. Lawbringer's armor is way too thick and bulky. Real life historically accurate plate mail is typically between 2- 4.5 millimeters, his looks closer to 2- 4.5 inches. 6. Get rid of his damn shoulder & elbow spikes. Real armor doesn't have spikes because they catch the opponent's weapon instead of it glancing off. This causes you to absorb the full force of the blow and likely get thrown off balance by a blow that would otherwise be useless. 7. Peacekeeper appears to be wearing leather or something but for all our sakes I'm going to assume it's gambeson or at least has gambeson underneath. These are heroes, the best fighters of their people. They have money. The only time you would be wearing gambeson without plate mail or chain mail over it is if you simply couldn't afford it. You could say it's for being sneaky and quiet but she doesn't sneak up in other players, she runs straight at them and steals their damn kidneys. I can't speak for her helm because she has a hood covering it. 8. The only time duel wielding was actually used was by Renaissance nobles in duels. They would use a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other but the dagger would only be used for parrying or if you got really close. This however was rare and only used in duels. The Vikings in For Honor are ridiculous and simply stereotypes. 9. No helms worn by the Vikings had horns. ever. 10. The Vikings didn't have crude, poorly made, damaged weapons like you see in For Honor, they were actually excellent blacksmiths and would test the sharpness of a blade by placing it down steam and floating a hair towards it, if the blade cut it as it drifted by, it was ready. 11. The Vikings weren't "nudists on the battlefield" like Game theory and For Honor seem to think. They would wear chainmail over gambeson, and they had some pretty damn good chainmail at that. You couldn't cut through it with an axe or sword, and it was very difficult to pierce as well. The gambeson underneath would protect against blunt impact. It is true that not all vikings could afford it but you play as the heroes, and any warrior experienced and skilled enough to be considered the best of his people would be pretty wealthy. I suppose Raider gets an excuse but I've never heard of vikings that intentionally went without armor. 12. No duel wielding axes. Just don't. If you want to know why go to Lindybiege' youtube channel, he has a video on why nobody ever duel wielded on the battlefield. A quick answer is because it's far better to have a one handed weapon and shield or a two handed weapon than two one handed weapons. You need to utilize your whole body for proper striking and it needs to happen one strike at and time. Plus, a good shield bash to the skull can easily kill a man. 13. I no like Valkyrie shield. It too small for big viking. 14.Highlander is using a claymore, aka a great sword or Zweihander, was a sword used in the Renaissance period with and against pike formations and excelled at breaking apart the formations of enemy pike units. To attack other men it would be used more similarly to a polearm. These swords were never used by vikings. 15. Samurai didn't wear wooden armour. For more information see the youtube channel "Metatron". 16.Nobushi has no visible armor. Also she is a cunt. 17. Orochi's armor has too many gaps, and so does Shugoki's. 18. The gladius of a Roman Centurion or legionnaire would always, _always_ be paired with a large rectangular shield called a "scutom". 19. A Roman Centurion's helm wouldn't have a face plate or mask, this was only for Roman calvary. 20. Roman armor didn't have abs. 21. The Shinobi was never intended to be a warrior, rather they were spies who excelled in espionage. They would sometimes be used for assasins. 22. The weapon of For Honor's Shinobi is known as the kusarigama, but in real life they didn't have a chain, and weren't weapons, they were a tool the Shinobi used to break through bamboo fences. 23. The gladiator hero is modeled after the "Retiarius", a Roman gladiator with a trident and weighted net, so get rid of that buckler. 24. Slashing blows with edged weapons cannot cut through plate mail or chainmail. 25.You cannot decapitate or dismember an armored opponent. I think that's about it, there are other things, like how the combat is straight out of Hollywood, but I'm done. With the beginning of season 5 in 2 weeks, still no dedicated servers (though they are coming!! YASSSS!) and 3 games in a row with no rewards bacause, you guessed it, DC! So no sir, thats a lie. But hopefully one that becomes truth in 2 weeks ^^
Now all this game needs is dedicated servers and actually balanced DLC characters and this game would be a lot better than it is now. So close yet so far from perfection, but still a good bit of fun at times.

I played the free weekend and it honestly seems really fun but I doubt for long. I did like how in 2v2's if your partner died, 90% of the time the other guy let you fight your guy 1 on 1
at the very end with where the guy said that cyborgs and werewolves are in the next dlc, he wasn't really wrong because shaman is like a werewolf jumping on people and ripping there neck out, and as well aramusha that spams his light and barely runs out of stamina like a machine or cyborg but ya this is just me thinking of things way too far and nice animation as well always enjoy these little spoofs
The fact that Highlander actually has a face I hope they add armor pieces to every other hero that shows more what they actually look like so for characters who can change skin color actually matters like Warden where you see nothing.
Just played the free weekend with no prior knowledge of the game at all. First thing was having to log in to Ubisoft to even launch the game. Also, the servers seem so poorly managed, the menus are not intuitive whatsoever, but the gameplay is extremely fun. It's like having the best pizza ever made and someone put pineapple on it.

Devin Traigle samurai infact used wooden armor *a lot* .And its was shit. Not really much usable resources there for everyone to have metal/layers of cloth. And not all vikings could afford a chainmail, but yeah, barechested raider, sleeveless valkyrie and whole berserker visual design with all horns are terrible, truly.
And alas, out of place romans. And not warriors but arena clowns. Creative director should be fired for this.

For honor: The only game you can get disconnected from singleplayer
I was really good at the game and really enjoyed it but I eventually couldn't take the shit servers. Just recently I tried reinstalling the game and guess what? The first match I played...Connection lost to Ubisoft servers.
Brah Min The game is improving and being fixed slowly. Its also getting dedicated servers at the start of season 3. Disconnects have decreased drastically from when the game was first launched and alot of the weaker characters are getting buffed. Aside from the steam community being somewhat desolate most of the other consoles have decent player bases and match ques never take longer than a minute. Give he game a try on the free weekend and buy the game if connection problems are your only gripe.

Because you asked for it (I'm not going to nitpick about time periods or regions like Romans vs Samurai or anything, that's just the game. This is about practicality and historically accurate weapons/armor
1. Warden's armor isn't accurate or practical. He doesn't even have a real breastplate, it's plate mail but with lots of gaps and such where chainmail and even bare gambeson are exposed.
2. Warden's helm doesn't have enough holes for proper ventilation, you'd pass out after a while.
3. Not everyone wore gauntlets but armor for your arms is a different story when it comes to western knights. Conqueror needs some arm protection. (Some of his gear has some so that's better)
4. Conqueror needs a shorter chain and a longer handle for his flail. The idea is for it to be proportioned so that the ball can't hit the hand that's wielding it by accident.
5. Lawbringer's armor is way too thick and bulky. Real life historically accurate plate mail is typically between 2- 4.5 millimeters, his looks closer to 2- 4.5 inches.
6. Get rid of his damn shoulder & elbow spikes. Real armor doesn't have spikes because they catch the opponent's weapon instead of it glancing off. This causes you to absorb the full force of the blow and likely get thrown off balance by a blow that would otherwise be useless.
7. Peacekeeper appears to be wearing leather or something but for all our sakes I'm going to assume it's gambeson or at least has gambeson underneath. These are heroes, the best fighters of their people. They have money. The only time you would be wearing gambeson without plate mail or chain mail over it is if you simply couldn't afford it. You could say it's for being sneaky and quiet but she doesn't sneak up in other players, she runs straight at them and steals their damn kidneys.
I can't speak for her helm because she has a hood covering it.
8. The only time duel wielding was actually used was by Renaissance nobles in duels. They would use a sword in one hand and a dagger in the other but the dagger would only be used for parrying or if you got really close. This however was rare and only used in duels.
The Vikings in For Honor are ridiculous and simply stereotypes.
9. No helms worn by the Vikings had horns. ever.
10. The Vikings didn't have crude, poorly made, damaged weapons like you see in For Honor, they were actually excellent blacksmiths and would test the sharpness of a blade by placing it down steam and floating a hair towards it, if the blade cut it as it drifted by, it was ready.
11. The Vikings weren't "nudists on the battlefield" like Game theory and For Honor seem to think. They would wear chainmail over gambeson, and they had some pretty damn good chainmail at that. You couldn't cut through it with an axe or sword, and it was very difficult to pierce as well. The gambeson underneath would protect against blunt impact. It is true that not all vikings could afford it but you play as the heroes, and any warrior experienced and skilled enough to be considered the best of his people would be pretty wealthy. I suppose Raider gets an excuse but I've never heard of vikings that intentionally went without armor.
12. No duel wielding axes. Just don't. If you want to know why go to Lindybiege' youtube channel, he has a video on why nobody ever duel wielded on the battlefield. A quick answer is because it's far better to have a one handed weapon and shield or a two handed weapon than two one handed weapons. You need to utilize your whole body for proper striking and it needs to happen one strike at and time. Plus, a good shield bash to the skull can easily kill a man.
13. I no like Valkyrie shield. It too small for big viking.
14.Highlander is using a claymore, aka a great sword or Zweihander, was a sword used in the Renaissance period with and against pike formations and excelled at breaking apart the formations of enemy pike units. To attack other men it would be used more similarly to a polearm. These swords were never used by vikings.
15. Samurai didn't wear wooden armour. For more information see the youtube channel "Metatron".
16.Nobushi has no visible armor. Also she is a cunt.
17. Orochi's armor has too many gaps, and so does Shugoki's.
18. The gladius of a Roman Centurion or legionnaire would always, _always_ be paired with a large rectangular shield called a "scutom".
19. A Roman Centurion's helm wouldn't have a face plate or mask, this was only for Roman calvary.
20. Roman armor didn't have abs.
21. The Shinobi was never intended to be a warrior, rather they were spies who excelled in espionage. They would sometimes be used for assasins.
22. The weapon of For Honor's Shinobi is known as the kusarigama, but in real life they didn't have a chain, and weren't weapons, they were a tool the Shinobi used to break through bamboo fences.
23. The gladiator hero is modeled after the "Retiarius", a Roman gladiator with a trident and weighted net, so get rid of that buckler.
24. Slashing blows with edged weapons cannot cut through plate mail or chainmail.
25.You cannot decapitate or dismember an armored opponent.
I think that's about it, there are other things, like how the combat is straight out of Hollywood, but I'm done. If you are wondering where I got my information, it is from the youtube channels: Skallagrim, Metatron, Lindybiege, and Shadiversity. As well as a couple government run museum websites.

TrouserMonstur pk has been abandoned and raider got buffed making him second most played character after the forever cancerous Centurion. Other than that the games pretty good.
TrouserMonstur Raider can now cancel into a top light attack that blinds you after any heavy or unlockable with just one button.

This war has nothing on the console wars those dark dark days were some of the worst time in living memory. Millions were killed in the opening days of the war and still to this day thousands are rounded up and slaughtered everyday
I played the free weekend and it honestly seems really fun but I doubt for long. I did like how in 2v2's if your partner died, 90% of the time the other guy let you fight your guy 1 on 1
at the very end with where the guy said that cyborgs and werewolves are in the next dlc, he wasn't really wrong because shaman is like a werewolf jumping on people and ripping there neck out, and as well aramusha that spams his light and barely runs out of stamina like a machine or cyborg but ya this is just me thinking of things way too far and nice animation as well always enjoy these little spoofs

The fact that Highlander actually has a face I hope they add armor pieces to every other hero that shows more what they actually look like so for characters who can change skin color actually matters like Warden where you see nothing.

Just played the free weekend with no prior knowledge of the game at all. First thing was having to log in to Ubisoft to even launch the game. Also, the servers seem so poorly managed, the menus are not intuitive whatsoever, but the gameplay is extremely fun. It's like having the best pizza ever made and someone put pineapple on it.
