I was disappointed when I saw our flights didn’t leave from the shopping and restaurant friendly Haneda Terminal 3 but let’s give this a chance. Here’s the inside of T2I #haneda #airport #tokyo
John mentioned his flight NH110 to JFK NY. I checked the flight online and their ANA plane flew over Toronto time at 9:30 AM EDT at 37,000 feet. I literally waved from my house in Toronto. Welcome to Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦(Not Antarctica) 👋 😊
Haneda Airport Terminal 2 looked adeguate for basic needs so i’ll give my thumb up👍Thank you for the tour and Safe Flght back to U S 🛫🇺🇸John ,Kanae and Leo 🙂👍!!!
Both narita and haneda are not so nice airports. the size means you walk endlessly, the crowds of people can cause anyone a headache and overcrowding in restaurants is common. while the airports are clean and modern, the fact that they are so overwhelming and you can easily go to the wrong side of a terminal, in constant renovations and changes internally get lost or miss flights makes them less enjoyable. Narita is over an hour away from Tokyo!! its like luton from london
@@anon-tlv3399 Hard disagree. Haneda is a very nice airport, I like it quite a lot and would like to use it more often (I haven't been to Tokyo for a year while since the flights are insanely more expensive than to any other Japanese city). Narita is way out, so I avoid that. If you want to see a sizeable airport with insane walking distances, try MUC T2; since they have to separate European, International incoming and International outgoing flights physically, you might end up at one corner of the terminal, go up two levels, walk through the whole building, go down one level, do the same again, passport control and then half of the building back to the exit when arriving from overseas -- easy to pick up 8k steps that way...
The airport is connected to politicians' research institute, covered in selfish desires, and has continued to undergo expansion and renovation to this day. It is not a very satisfying facility and it is a stressful place. The days when Pan Am was in service and there was plenty of room are now a thing of the 😢 past...
@@danielegger6460 yeah they certainly haven't used other airports of they think Haneda & Narita are bad. They aren't perfect, but they're better than airports in any other country I've been to.
Crazy I was there a couple days ago. Had the udon - not bad. Basic, clean terminal, no complaints. Though I was disappointed to find no 7-11 so I can spend my remaining yen on snacks! Safe travels!
I just came through terminal 2 a couple of weeks ago (night flight both ways). Agree that the offerings can't compare to terminal, but the pro is it's so much quieter and easy to get through bag pickup, security etc. And once I'd dropped my bags I went and explored the domestic part of terminal 2 for a while since getting through customs was going to be so quick.
HSG Ariake was a pretty small terminal but it was an interesting place. 2-3 max restaurants, 2 stores one of them potterey/China and other snacks and touristy stuff.
Went to Japan last year since it was my brother's last year in Japan. With the over-tourism and price hikes, I think I may have gotten lucky. Was also able to climb Mt Fuji which was a lifetime experience. Safe trip to you and the family!
GOOD luck to your flights to USA , nice terminal 2 introduction, regards to Kanae, Leo your son . hope Tourist wont disappointed to the terminal that were introduced, expectations perils the camarrederie. Great!!!!
John I don’t know if you do this…eveytime I fly long distances I always bring a nice box/bag of chocolates (make sure they are individually wrapped with in the bag) for the flight attendants to show appreciation for the work they do. It’s a nice thing to do and you will be surprised how grateful they are. Puts a smile on their faces.
That’s so nice! I love the idea! I’ve noticed though for Japanese, chocolates 🍫 is risky. Much less people like it than outside Japan so little cakes and stuff are safer. Also, ladies don’t always like chocolates. Kanae isn’t always happy when I bring it home 😂 but jokes aside, giving a small gift is so nice to do and we should show appreciating to the people who give us service, it’s really about the thought then just the chocolates!
@@onlyinjapanGO I did not know about Japanese people not liking chocolates! I always buy them at the duty free stores at the international airports. It’s usually nicely wrapped like a gift. Well now I have to think of something else! Thanks for the tip.
Aloha John! Mahalo for the update. I used to like T3 both pre-security gate and airside for the variety of shops and restaurants. However, it’s much too crowded and chaotic now with the large amount of international tourists. I’m getting grumpier and anti-social in my older middle age! I prefer more chill places now. Domestic T1 and T2 is pretty good pre-security gate but it appears the international T2 is pretty sparse for now. I anticipate more shops moving in. Safe travels for you and the Ohana.
Hello John, it has been a while, my best to the Family. NRT INT had only been open about 7 months when i first arrived in Tokyo. I was reassigned to OKO Yokota AB about 25 miles Northwest of Nihonbashi near Ome on the Chuo sen.❤
LOL, I remember this past may2nd when I was at narita international to return home a weird shop interaction. This Britain or Australian couple ordered a pint if beer and wanted it in a bottle rather than a plastic cup. They got so mad there were no bottles they just left empty handed without their drinks.
I flew out of terminal 2 in June. It looked new and this explains it 🤣. I did visit the ANA lounge, that was very nice, then we had to bus to the plane
Yeah, flew out of T2 last November and I didn’t have a lot of choice for food around 8pm. Places were either closed or I was allergic to the meal I wanted to order. Knowing that, I would eat before going through security.
16:44 such a Larry David sound there hahah I love it! XD And I was stunned with the more-than-reasonable prices there at the airport, woahhh cannot believe how affordable the 110 yen water was in particular compared to the insane prices you usually get here in the UK. Wonder if there is a free water station, that would be cool as well. I bet they have good provision for areas to charge your electronics as well.
With the no name restaurants they’ll probably experimenting with higher prices without the concern of being compared to regular prices outside the terminal.
i think that these two vending machines would be quite enough for someone to grab something to eat. An onigiri and a "sando" would be a nice last meal at the airport hahaha Have a good trip and a good time at the US John, Kanae and Leo!
Have a good flight, thanks for showing us Terminal 2. Just in case that first ANA flight from Vienna since they shut that route down happens to land there... Buuuuut~...... Seeing so many ANA planes there, I'm kind of starting to doubt that we'll see T3😅 Especially when you pointed out another ANA plane headed for Paris...😬
I wasn't impressed when my flight to Sydney was out of Haneda international terminal 2 in November. The Family Mart vending machine wasn't there nor was the large drink vending machine. Very poor availability of drinks & snacks for a 9+ hour flight. To top it off, the flight used a bus gate and I'm sure they could have despatched us from a bus gate at T3!
@@onlyinjapanGO I should have suggested New Park pizza on cross bay boulevard. But you know how tight time gets. Stretch out and enjoy the space! Let Leo run around! Good to see you’re a family man now! Lucky you! I’m going to get my 18 year old to come out to Kishinosato and do some JDM meet ups. Enjoy every moment. Have fun and all the best!
Definitely ANA. It’s always a tier ahead of JAL but both offer a great experience. After another JAL pilot came in drunk in Dallas recently, I question their company culture a lot 😢 but they’ll pull it together. Never had a bad experience with them personally.
Is the uploader traveling to the US? If indeed, he should do it as often as much as his western viewers admire japan. His anticipated trip..or love to the US has arrived. I love touristic transparency. LOL.......
I always prefer Haneda, but now International arrival/departure is more expensive. For the last 10 years or so, when I started to use JAL and ANA, they mostly arrive in Narita. It's just too far from Tokyo. Haneda flights are like 10-20% more expensive, because I think there's additional surcharge that they put in. They're trying to encourage people to use Narita instead for International. The exception to this is connecting domestic flights. There's no choice other than using Haneda. There's no way you want to arrive in Narita, go out of immigrations, get your bags, and take the bus to Haneda. That's crazy.
It's funny, inflation is rampant outside Japan's airports, once you land in America, inflation will make people go broke, so you have to calculate what you need and what you can afford.
Hmm I don't like that weird pattern on the ground. It stresses me. They should have made it wood or some other clean style. You buying that ice cream was cute

Flew back home from T2 haneda and took a taxi there. Taxi driver didn't believe me that some international flights depart from t2 !
Oh, now I understand why last Saturday there were many airplanes flying to Haneda Airport
Also, John, have you been to Singapore 🇸🇬 Changi AirPort ? Japan’s airport cannot be compared and compete to the beauty of Changi AirPort !
Many times, best in the world.

Yeah, it’s underwhelming but far fewer people so that’s the only good spot.
that clam ramen is pretty solid
Worse thing about airports is UNcomfortable chairs,in case of delay and need to stay overnight there should be capsule hotels
Worse than uncomfortable chairs are the glaring white lights at Narita airport in the Jetstar F Gates.
Enjoy your holiday John.
Oh my brother..you’re actually coming to NY? It would be great to see you and kanae again. ❤

That's a pity. There was a livestream and I missed it.
Was there in march 2020 during covid, people kinda silent, female employee kinda jumpy..
Is there a Travelex inside Terminal 2 cuz we will have to layover there for a few hours.
Hope you packed shorts, tee shirts and sun screen. NYC is sweltering. Another extreme heat event with high humidity arriving tomorrow. 🥵
Felt it getting off the plane! 🥵
Always get the soft ice cream
So good!

Yep, bottled water at Sydney Airport is min. $5. Everything at Sydney Airport is overpriced, especially the parking!
Everything in Australia is over priced, period 😅

Yes, it's confirmed by NHK.

Looks a little bit like the terminal at Itami
"we are going to have a pretty good flight, I think" Based on what? That they are loading food?

They’re not oversized glasses. It’s my head, it’s much smaller than most Japanese. So I can never find “normal” sized glasses, except for kids.
500 yen for a soft cream is highway robbery lol
