  • Marilyn Monroe is the defining icon of the American 1950s. A seemingly fairytale transformation of rags to riches, a shining example of the mythical American dream. However, as the decade continued, the myth of Marilyn Monroe and the American Dream seemed to crumble.

    I don't believe she committed suicide at all. She just wanted to be loved. And I believe she thought she found that in someone she wasn't supposed to be with. So she was dealt with. Either way. It's so incredibly sad. I absolutely adore her. RiP Norma Jean

    You completely skip over the two films connected with her own Production Company. Marilyn won the Golden Globe for best actress in March 1960, not 1959. And Let's Make Love was shot and released in 1960, it didn't start in 1959. Any delay on that film was not Marilyn's fault, but rather a writer's strike that interrupted it's progress. More blaming Marilyn for something she didn't even do. John Huston lied about the reason Marilyn left The Misfits set. It was more to do with his huge gambling losses than Marilyn's health.

    To truly understand MM you have to keep in mind she was bipolar, or as it was referred to in her day as manic depression. I felt sorry for her because I am not sure she was properly treated for it. The notes from her psychiatrist was quite revealing about how different her private life was than what you saw on the screen.

      There is nothing wrong with the "dumb blonde" act as long as men and women allow the actor to transcend into new roles. They typecast the woman and then wouldn't let her manage her success of the image. I believe the production company is at the root of her death. She was getting ready to take somebody's percent of the picture business. Remember, it was said that when her name was on the theater marquee the revenue went way up. Her death had little to do with Kennedy as the POTUS and politics. If anything, her success would have benefited the "party" financially. Her death benefited somebody in hollywood. Bete Davies went through seperation pains to Hollywood and so did
      Olivia de Havilland. Braking the slave chains from powerful is dangerous. Better Davis tried he hand a self production and she was not treated farely in the distribution of her films. The same person's probably leaked her nude photos hoping it would destroy her career. New York was her sanctuary, but they got her in California.

    So, what was the dark side? Dysfunctional Hollywood or "professionals" who never helped her with the production company. This story is all wrong and off. You aren't telling the story. She was the Dolly Parton of her era, but "something" got in her way. The cold War between men and women. Nobody wanted to see a "good" actress. They wanted a repeat of fake sexuality. Poor Norma Jean Mortenson, she believe in a world of true artistic expression. "They" wouldn't allow her versatility, creativity which she came to understand as a child watching movies as a foster child in the theatres. Perhaps it was all a smoke screen. Odd irony how Kennedy's son was attracted to blond actors as well. However, as a twist of fate, Kennedy's son died and not the actor.

Supposedly Marilyn Monroe was the first Monarch slave who achieved “celebrity” status. For those unfamiliar with the term “Presidential model”, I’ll refer them to The Control of Candy Jones by Donald Bain and Long John Nebel. As the story goes, Long John Nebel-a New York radio personality in the 50′s-70′s-discovered via hypnosis that his wife, Candy Jones, was a victim of just this sort of mind control project, one of the many MK-ULTRA mind slaves, programmed by CIA “spychiatrists” and used by high mucky muck dignitaries to perform their whims, among other assorted duties such as being used as drug mules and message couriers for this vast network of morally deficient power brokers.” - Adam Gorightly, “An Interpretation of Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut

You did it girl be proud! And you were wrong? You were loved? Just by the wrong people? Joe DiMaggio he loved you and you loved him. You just wanted JFK because he refused you so that made you want him more? Thats how it works with everyone? He wouldn't of been no good for you? Too much of a cheating playboy. You were way to good baby girl. Only if you knew? Love you girl rest n peace❤❤❤😢🎉🎉❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

    MM is a Icon of my Dad's Generation. I was far to young to know what was going on with her death and JFK's Death. I can only look at it in hind-site. All of the conspiracy theories just don't make sense. There is no substance to them. They fall apart when measured against known facts. On the other hand; it is reported that all documentation was removed after the official statements were made. You cannot go back and actually look at the evidence. From what I can conjecture: MM took a dose of prescription sleep aids not knowing the Dr was going to give her sleep aids. The Dr gave her sleep aids not knowing she had taken sleep aids. There was a lack of communication resulting in an nothing more than accidental overdose resulting in her death. It was nothing more than a very tragic mistake which the Dr must take responsibility for. The coverup was an effort to save the Dr's reputation. There doesn't need to be any more to the incident.

    We've come a long way in understanding mental illness and how to deal with it constructively. i believe part of the problem with Marilyn involves the social expectations of the time. If Marilyn had met a man who ;et her be who she was, an intelligent actress, she may have become like Kate Hepburn or Lauren Bacall. Also, the advances in knowledge about how to deal with mental illness, were they around in Marilyn's time, might have led to a different outcome.

In realta era diversa.
    Era ormai un prodotto,che prima di suicidarsi,non valorava cosi tanto .Erano arrivate altre attrici ,piu giovane,piu naturale,pou teale,non cosi tanto trasformate.
    RIP Marilyn 🙏🙏

    No originality of true acting nothing news all the acting like another and they don't really give anybody a chance for a new discovery they have to play a role of a legend or a actor from the past which is fine but nobody could ever replace those great actors that have to leave room for new ones that doesn't mean that being replaced that's what's going to keep them in the place audience that love and remembers them

    This documentary keeps mentioning the American Dream which is odd because she never achieved it. It implies that the NY grate scene caused her marriage to Joe Di Maggio to fail which is illogical.

    • @grf15
      @grf15 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Since Di Maggio publicly complained about it, I have to disagree. He thought it was vulgar and disliked people seeing his wife so exposed.

    • @classiclife7204
      @classiclife7204 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      She achieved the Dream, but it was a worthless tissue of lies. As for DiMaggio, his tantrum that night - evidently he knocked her around, too - proved to be the final straw for Marilyn, who no longer could tolerate his controlling behavior. Nothing "illogical" about it at all.

      It seemed like many women in the film industry were treated like objects by actors ,directors and producers. She was a talented and intelligent woman.Marilyn Monroe was a creation of Norma Jean and the American dream cost her her life.

    • @maverickbull1909
      @maverickbull1909 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      She achieved the dream because she went from rags to riches. She became one of the most iconic movie stars in the entire world after being an orphan. And she did it all on her own. No nepotism. No actor connections. She made it happen with the strength of her own charisma and work. So, you're wrong there. And second, it is not illogical for her husband to be upset that the entire country is ogling his wife while she shows off her panties as her dress blows up. Back then people had morals and were more conservative. It's not a nice feeling to know that every man in the world is fantasizing about your wife as she willingly shows off her body. So, you're wrong again, it's very logical. Of course, there was probably more going on, but he said himself that it bothered him.

      Not necessarily true. I was born Christian and believe in God and my life is still a mess and full of severe challenges everyday. Experiencing trauma since childhood is not a choice. Depression is not a choice and can't always be fixed by simply believing in something or someone. Life just isn't that simple.

    pressures and demands put on her by hollywood to maintain an all "American" girl image, she kept them to herself to sustain her career..
    At the height of her fabulous movie career, marylin formed her own production company and she no longer felt constrained by hollywood
