Thanks for directing me to this video. I thought I remembered all these steps, but I definitely missed a few. I live in New Orleans, Louisiana, and it's already fairly hot so I definitely rushed it a bit and didn't give each step the proper time. I'll start over and go through each step. As a side note, this is my first Toyota and is a 'work only' car. I have an Audi A6 that I normally drive and I don't find the Audi as nearly as confusing to work on as the Toyota. Of course, other than normal maintenance, I haven't had anything break either. Figured it would be the other way around.

Nice video! I'm having low idling problems with a 2006 Toyota Corolla Verso 1.8 1FF ZE. I'd like to relearn the idle but is manual transmision. Do you know if there's any special process for manual transmision cars?. Thanks in advance.

Hi. Just wondering if the idling reset needs to be done straight away or can be slowly done within the next few days? It was for a Camry 2009 Altise auto. I did the ECU reset by another method but also spent 30 minutes anyway. If I didn’t do the idle learning do I have to restart again from the reset 30 minutes or the car will learn the idle anyway if I follow those steps?
Hi, I would recommend to do it straight away it might stall. Other thing you can do it start the car and leave it on idle for 15 mins in a open area of course and not in a garage .
I leave the car idle for maybe 15-320 minutes after driving for some short ten to twenty minute period. Nothing happen but it suddenly stall afterwards and the electric supply wasn’t working. Can I just go do the idling reset again or should I reset the ECU again now? The 15 minutes has definitely past But to note the stall happened after leaving the car idle long enough and then driving again and then it stall but starts immediately
Hi Josh, yes in theory it would. I have not tried it on that model, but your exu should react the same way. Consider Subscribing if you haven't already.

1. disconnect positive & negative battery cables; touch positive & negative terminals together 5-10 seconds; reconnect battery cables, positive first. 2. start-up engine, let engine idle until eng temp reaches 150-160 F; 3. turn-off engine for 5 minutes 4. start-up engine, engage emergency brake; cycle through all gears stationary. turn A/C on MAX for 2 min; turn A/C off 2 min; turn-off engine. 5. Next engine start-up, you're good to go. What's wrong? Why are you desperate for a relearn anyway?

Interesting, I learned something similar from a toyota tech, but it doesn't take that long; maybe your method is better. Next engine start-up, you're good to go. So, what was cause of the problem for low mpg in the first place? Did you make any other changes/tune-up aside from cleaning the battery terminal (new air-filter, sparkplugs, cleaning etc)? Hard to believe an ECU-relearn alone increased mpg?
Yes, just be sure to touch the negative and positive cables together after u disconnect them from battery. Touch them together for at least 5 seconds (Away from battery terminals of course, be safe)
Your point of this video was to reset the ECU on the vehicle why did you spend so much time on the negative terminal you could have used some hot water to get rid of the battery corrosion on the terminal and on the battery post
When you undo the negative terminal for an extended period of time , it will soft reset the ECU, then I showed how to idle relearn. So there are two purposes to this video. Hope this helps.

It's helpful to turn the AC on high and run the car at 2,000 rpm in neutral for about 5 minutes after resetting the ECU to get the proper idle.

To clear the corrosion/gunk on negative battery, the simple solution is just pouring hot water into terminal battery...total clean
