wha-- WHAAAAAAAT I FORGOT ABOUT THIS!!!! Thank you for putting this together Hank! Aww I miss you and that museum and awww the memories. so many feelings. i have them all
thank-you so much for all the amazing videos! I can't wait to see the new cool videos at the next Museum! also, I loved that look like you said "I done party and the specimen." I hope you don't miss this museum to much, and I'm already hyped for the next video!
Emily and Hank: There is a great quote in the middle of this video that I think would make a great poster on DFTBA for The Brain Scoop. I'd design it myself, but I have about the artistic skills of a grapefruit. In case there happens to be some great Nerdfighter with decent designing abilities, here it is: "I've grown to really like raccoons, since we've had Soon Raccoon on the channel so often. The raccoon is like the perfect mascot for The Brain Scoop, because they're kind of under, under appreciated, but they're really curious, and they're really funny, and they're really sneaky. I don't know how that has anything to do with our show." -Emily Graslie. I think that quote sneakily describes the show perfectly. Thank you both for not forgetting to be awesome.
I do miss these more personal more amateur (a little more honest?) videos, but the vast increase in content quality and subject variation that has come from partnering with the Field Museum has be totally worth it, as a viewer. I love that feeling of hands-on Emily has with the collection and hope she's been able to cultivate something similar in Boston.
I love these tour videos, even as few as they are. The brain scoop is so much fun, and it's so cool to watch Emily getting so excited to learn about all these new animals and?!?! I just love her enthusiasm so much!? She's so cool!?
So many warm fuzzies about this! I can't believe it's been two years since Emily started at the Field... I've been watching since the beginning... it's been a privilege to follow her journey and all the amazingness! Thanks for digging this footage out of the past, Hank, and for sharing it with all of us!
I absolutely love The Brain Scoop and all the cool and incredible things Emily has been able to with the show since partnering with the Field Museum (It's still one of my most favorite channels) but I do have to admit I miss the early days back in Montana. Thanks so much for sharing this step back in time with us Hank!
I've been spending the last few months struggling to figure out what I want to do with my life. I'm studying biology, chemistry, and environmental science in school but I've always had a huge passion for history too. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do as a career where I could merge those two passions. Emily has been an incredible inspiration to me and I'm now investigating careers in curatorship and museum biology work. So thank you and Emily and Michael for taking a weird amazing museum tour and seeing a talent and a story.
I miss the tours from missoula. I just want to see Emily at the Chicago Field Museum just opening drawers saying wow then explaining what is cool about them.
Glad to have you at the Field Museum Emily! I live in Iowa, so it's the closest major natural history museum, and the only one I get to reasonably often. Great to see exhibits and information that I am at least a little familiar with.
If I'm perfectly honest I'm a bit sad that Emily moved. I'm glad she gets to work at such a prestigious museum now but the videos were better when she was in Montana.
It would be amazing if someone made an interactive video of this museum! So when ever you clicked on something, Emily's voice would tell you about it, and even little anecdotes on how that specimen came to the museum. Some day?
It took me a while to realize that Emily moving to the Field Museum in Chicago meant that this was in essence a goodbye video for her and Hank. It's like a friend moving away to better things....sad but happy.
Emily should be made Ambassador for both Education and Women. I wish her every success and advancement. Here's hoping for more Brain Scoop videos when she settles down in her new job!
+SritaCaramelo The Brain Scoop still uploads every other week! Check their channel page; they might not be showing up in your subscriptions. Also, a friend of mine worked on finishing that wolf's mounting! He's a posed skeleton now ^.^

Didn't think of that +Azzarinne thank you!. I've been getting one a month maybe if lucky. I'll check just in case. I still wish it was more often if it is once every other week. I just love their videos too much!
to the sabertooth cat. i read in a journal that they were living in forests and jungles and they would climb on trees and wait till something walked below them then they would jump down and bite their necks killing them with their giant teeth. it also said that they wern't able to see their prey during the jump because they had to open their mouth so wide.
Thank you so much for sharing this Hank! I'm a huge Brain Scoop fan, I'm hoping to do my Masters thesis on the channel's work for my Masters of Museum Studies, if Emily and The Field Museum are happy to work with me!
The Brain Scoop was always one of my favorite channels. I'm happy for Emily to get such a prestigious position but The Brain Scoop has gone down the tube once she moved to Chicago. Sorry I had to say that.
This video makes me so happy! That desmond fellow, only 4 in the world at the time he moved there? Is that the source of the magical powers of Mazoolans?
+OwenBruch22 We make a video every other week! We have around 140. For the amount of research and production work that goes into every one that's not bad.
In reference to the sabertooth skull shown, could those kinds of cats actually open their mouths wide enough for the titular saber teeth to pierce into flesh? That must be how those teeth function, but I can't imagine their mouths being that wide open!

Emily's enthusiasm is probably my favorite thing about her. I wish I had someone like that in my life to get through the mundane parts of life.
YES

Totally wrote this as if the video is on the Brain Scoop channel. Oops. Whateves
HANK, upload more old museum footage of you have it and can! Please.
I love these tour videos, even as few as they are. The brain scoop is so much fun, and it's so cool to watch Emily getting so excited to learn about all these new animals and?!?! I just love her enthusiasm so much!? She's so cool!?

Does anyone else think that Hank and Emily could be twins?
+snmason She's seriously the secret Vlogsister.
Is it just me, or do they almost seem like siblings? Like Hank is her supportive older nerd brother, and she's his adventurous younger nerd sister.
+Commander Derpchan Yea, she's basically a Green.
+Commander Derpchan Don't you know? Emily is Dave's twin sister ;-P
Someone needs to start an "Emily Graslie Out Of Context" quote tumblr.
"I could totally be a Shoebill. I want to be a pink fairy armadillo." -Emily Graslie
"Nyroooooo! Heh heh... heh... I don't... I don't play with the specimens." -Emily Graslie
This still has brains on it.
yesss!! please!!
+Naiadryade i post here and wait for the link
I love Emily so much! She is just so full of wonder and enthusiasm. Keep being awesome Emily!
**flies the squirrel like an airplane** haha I don't...I don't play with the specimens..."
+ReadHeadPat I thought it was like Rocky "the flying squirrel"- love

+Tom McDonald
It just doesn't feel right without it... Even if it's on a different channel.
Awww, Emily
Words cannot express how attractive I find Emily's brain.

I agree.
woo thanks for taking us back in time, Hank. It was so fun to see the Missoula museum again!
I absolutely love how excited Emily is about everything
I'm back here again after watching Emily's video on leaving The Field Museum and The Brain Scoop. It's amazing how time flies T-T
I had a chance to meet Emily in Chicago. She so sweet and amazing. My little sisters were super jealous I met her.
+onewhoisanonymous Envy! She announced that she was moving A WEEK before I left to move to Missoula! Missed her completely. ;.;
That was awesome and happy and kind of sad all at the same time. Thank you!
Awwww I totally miss this kind of thing. The brainscoop in missoula felt really special.
Do more collabs together with Hank and Emily! You two are amazing together!
Those are for "ANNIHILATION"
I love how you put the correct term on screen.
This is so wonderful. This is why we always behind the scenes vlog and be goofy before changes.
Aw. Nice to see more footage of this. Thanks for posting it.
Emily should be made Ambassador for both Education and Women.
I wish her every success and advancement.
Here's hoping for more Brain Scoop videos when she settles down in her new job!
Emily seems cool , i will subscribe to her channel
She's very cool. I'm grateful for the attention she's bringing to natural history and STEM in general.
An episode or two of the Brain Scoop consisting entirely of Emily showing Hank things at the Field Museum would be awesome.
i wish the brainscoop would post as often as it used to. I love these videos. Who remembers the wolf?
+SritaCaramelo The Brain Scoop still uploads every other week! Check their channel page; they might not be showing up in your subscriptions.
Also, a friend of mine worked on finishing that wolf's mounting! He's a posed skeleton now ^.^

She is a fountain of knowledge! Very impressed, I'll check out her channel for sure.
Awesome seeing this - thanks for posting!

Why doesn't Emily post regularly anymore!!! It is sad 😢.
No views, no likes, no dislikes, no comments. But I bet I am still not first.
I think you are!
+Arthur78 GASP! I was so very wrong.
Aw, Emily is so great!
Thank you so much for sharing this Hank! I'm a huge Brain Scoop fan, I'm hoping to do my Masters thesis on the channel's work for my Masters of Museum Studies, if Emily and The Field Museum are happy to work with me!
"neeeoooo... I don't...I don't play with the specimens."
Old school. Such feels.
Still so great and touching!
This is great! It is wonderful seeing you two interact in that space. Thank you for the tour. Not to mention the thoughts on the raccoon as a mascot.
Good luck in Chicago, Emily!
Wait. The guy from CrashCourse knows the girl from Brain Scoop? Mind blown!
Well thanks to his video on vlogbrothers, in fact, The brain scoop was created :)
This is everything I've ever wanted in life.
Wait. that was a couple of years ago already? what? i don't what?
+Ry P I'm sure I saw some of this footage before recently. Actually, now that I found the video, it is from 2013.
Oh man. I'm gonna get a day whole day off for the first time in ages next week... MUST VISIT UofM ZOOLOGICAL MUSEUM!!
Super awesome! I love the Brain Scoop and this was just a nice little treat.
watching Emily's channel made me think : mmmm she likes dead animals and humar , she should go on a Dear Hank and John ep
"gah... look at all those diggy finger-feet." XD hahaha! That was awesome.. Love for Hank!
The Brain Scoop was always one of my favorite channels. I'm happy for Emily to get such a prestigious position but The Brain Scoop has gone down the tube once she moved to Chicago. Sorry I had to say that.
I like her so much. She makes me feel less weird for having an interest in animal skulls and a small collection of found skulls.
- Heidi
Emily is so fun. She'd make a good pal.
Albatross on a stick!!!!???
What flavor is it?
Do you get wafers with it?
#MontyPython
This was AMAZING!! I didn't know about Brain Scoop before, but I've just subscribed, so it's cool.

I miss the brain scoop... :(
thanks, emily. you really teach me how to be unashamedly excited about animals (even as my friends stare at me like I'm nuts)
This is the coolest video. What other treasures are you hoarding in your archive?
I literally just want hourly brain scoop episodes.
ahhh the nostalgia!
Being covered in flying squirrel fur is just about the only thing that could make Emily more interesting than she already is.
She's is the most adorable, kind nerdy lady ever can we pls be friends

More please!
Emily has such a cool job
Oh my good she is so cool!!!!!

Sadly The Brain Scoop rarely puts out videos now....
+OwenBruch22 We make a video every other week! We have around 140. For the amount of research and production work that goes into every one that's not bad.
***** Oh wow! They haven't been showing up in my feed. Thank's for letting me know! I'm off to marathon them! :D
Does this mean that Emily no longer works at The Field Museum? It makes me sad, too!
It seems like just yesterday
