Another oldie but goodie. They came out with an F4U-4 at the same time and it is exquistly molded.

I had the F4U-4 kit and sold it years ago simply due to the raised panel lines. I should have kept and built it!

@@jonsmodelkitreview4624 I have two and they are very well done considering their age and the fact they were pre CAD-CAM/laser mapping era...

I saw Godzilla Minus One on Friday and I loved it! They did realistically integrate the Shinden into the plot which made it an even more interesting movie. I also wondered how many other moviegoers knew that it was a real airplane and really did fly. One thing is that the TOTAL flight time on the airframe was 45 minutes. The flights were on August 3, 6, and 9. The landing gear was never retracted. It's a very cool airplane and makes you wonder what might have been.

Right on! It is a very futuristic looking aircraft, and one can easily see how a jet engine could be fitted for future variants. Doubtless, there was still a long development process still to be done prior to the J7W1 being an effective and reliable weapon. So, even if the war had lasted longer, the Shinden probably wouldn't have seen combat in meaningful numbers. I would still love to see one flying, though. Cheers!

@jonsmodelkitreview4624 It's fortunate that the war didn't last past 1945 ("Golden Gate in '48" is one slogan I had heard) because if the Shinden HAD been perfected, it may have proved troublesome for the B-29s. It's also interesting to think of how a Bearcat vs. Shinden encounter would have gone. If the one that was captured had been test flown in the U.S., it would have been really interesting to see the results of a fly-off with the most current fighters. Another favorite 'Japan '46' aircraft design is the A6M8 Type 64 Zero. Two prototypes were completed before the end of the war. I would argue that it's the coolest of the A6M series even if it falls into the same category as the Shinden.

@chrissakal532 Right on! It would be interesting to see how the Shinden and A6M8 would have performed. The P-80 was already in Europe by the end of the war, as was the Meteor, and the Bearcat was getting ready for action, too. We can speculate, but I'm glad that the war ended when it did. Cheers!

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I just released a newer video on Trumpeter's Supermarine Spiteful a few days ago and I'm currently working on several more videos (Tamiya's Spitfire Vb trop and Hobbycraft's dreaded Curtis Hawk 75). Cheers!
