4:50 Charging a battery from a 0% to 50% is quicker than charging it from 50% to 100%. The emptier the battery, the less time it takes to charge one percent. So the Anker would be even quicker if they had the same starting conditions.
To be fair, not a lot of people know how batteries charge and how charging times aren't linear. That being said, I still like and am okay with the testing methodology here because it gave the bigger power bank a disadvantage and it STILL beat the "card" charger.
Yep that's why I'd never want one in my wallet. I just throw an ONN branded 4,000mah battery bank in my mini EDC backpack when I think I might need it, as it was less than 10 bucks.
Came down here to say the same thing. Sitting on a battery that small seems like a bad idea. Not nearly enough protection around the actual battery packs.
I've seen a million very similar charging banks at my electronic recycler over the last few years. I imagine the company that sells these is just basically drop shipping them from Aliexpress, maybe with custom printing.
It's a "Shark Tank" item. I'm quite sure someone in Asia took it apart and made a cheap version that looks similar and cranked it out with advertisements within a few weeks. China is infamous for ripping off other IPs. And with their many manufacturing companies loosing big name contracts, they'll be doing anything they can to recoup losses.
Oof....I got that Anker 737 for $99 a few months ago. 24,000 mAh, 3 devices at once, fast charging. Thing has been amazing. Can recharge my S22 Ultra 4 to 5 times. This card seems ridiculous lol
This product kinda scares me. While it is not as thin as a credit card, it is pretty thin for a lithium battery. If you were to sit down forcefully enough and bend the case enough that the layers of the lithium battery bridge, you can start a very nasty fire... on your butt.
$59 seems very expensive for a 31% bank after an hour and 20 minutes. My hubby and I just upgraded our family phones after 4.5 years (3 years for our son) and got MagSafe cases. My son and I chose Anker power banks that magnetically attach and are maybe half again as thick as this for half the price. I believe they’re also good for multiple full charges. Nice to see you’re also still using your Allet wallet and that none of the new ones have supplanted it. Hubby still likes his too. I got for him for Christmas after your initial review of it and was not surprised when it made your top ten that year.

There's also a much cheaper one which seems to basically have the same form factor from the brand TNTOR. Just that it has the cable directly attached. MagSafe comes with the downside of reduced efficiency.
The *BEST* thing that this could've been used for, is emergency charging. You really don't need 2000mah on this. You don't because you literally cannot carry it for convenience, you have to carry it separately (even while charging, looks like), so it doesn't beat out regular powerbanks. If it's 1000mah, with half the size, that fits in your wallet, then this is really a game changer. When you have 0 battery, and you really need that final text / final email, whatever, then you just plug it into your phone, open your phone, do that final thing, and that's that. Specifically being used for emergency purposes. It has no place or business competing with regular powerbanks, even "convenient" powerbanks like magbaks.
I used to have a power bank like this years ago when the Samsung note 4 Edge was out. It was 1300mah and actually was smaller than a credit card and had a cable attached and flip out usb port and sticky pad to attach to the back of your phone.
I used to have a couple of card style chargers from Radio Shack. Each one would charge my phone completely and fit in my wallet easily. They also cost only $30
I’ve varied mine for over two years in two different leather wallets. It fits snugly but easily in all three credit card sleeves in my current wallet and although it won’t fully charge any phone, it’ll keep your phone useful and from dying when you aren’t near an outlet. Just check the pockets on the wallet you intend to get before you buy. 🙄
Just a quick fyi for future battery charging speed tests: batteries charge way faster from 0 to 50% than they do from 50 to 100. A more accurate charging speed test would be to charge both batteries starting in the same percentage.
6:48 you should not be using ANY power bank to charge your phone completely. That is not what they are for. They are all only to be used for emergencies.
I also came to say, charging from empty is faster. Especially the last parts of the battery will trickle charge. Now, the Anker was faster even though it was unfair, so well.
*I'm not sure who's supposed to use this product. If you are out all day then most phone batteries will last the entire day without a charge.* *If you spend all day on the road then you can charge your phone in your car/truck.* *If you spend the day in a building/office then you don't need that charger either.* *If you spend several days away from any electrical outlet, like camping, then that tiny charger won't be enough for your entire trip.* *I fail to see who would need that product and for what situation.*
The only real value I see with this is parts harvesting. The charging IC must be tiny which could be great for so many hacking and DIY projects. Also that 2600mA cell is ultra thin which means it also has some use for converting an old alkaline product into a rechargable one.
i don't think you want to put lithium battery on your pocket. generally you shouldn't use power bank in your pocket, bag or any small confined space. because of the heat.
I have a charge bank but mine you just lay your phone on top and it charges it. It is a lot faster than that little one and charges the phone all the way. But like you said, it is bigger, heavier and thicker than that tiny charge card. I cannot see paying over $50 for something that won't even charge it to 50%. Thank you for sharing with us. I trust your reviews over others because you don't let people pay you for your opinions.
They might have to get a deal with the Ridge wallet, but since it is the size of 6 credit cards, it significantly diminishes the number of cards you carry with the Ridge wallet. The Ridge can carry up to 12 credit cards but that is pushing it.
I have various power banks and one of them supports wireless charging but I don't have any wireless charging enabled devices. Most of my power banks are 2 or 3 amp but many of the small ones are 1 amp. Some of them being in my homemade radio, my light bar and my DIY spotlight.
I use a mini-briefcase novelty business card holder for a wallet, probably would fit that. Don't laugh, it's actually a great wallet. Has two working latches. Put a phone wallet on one side for quick access to my most used cards and then a clear ID holder on the other side that I store my DL and ECC card in (even though the ECC uses the DL number) and then the inside supports 18 credit cards while being as thick as the slim mint wallet. And the handle on it can latch to a keychain to then hook onto my belt loop. This looks like it could fit that "wallet".
After being picked pocket years ago I have carried my wallet in my front pocket and also I don't like sitting on a wallet . True everyone has their own preference.
James, Thanks for catching that size difference on the Amazon listing. My question is, do they really think that one wallet card slot, can hold, six cards? In my experience, I have wallets that, at most, holds two or three cards in one card slot.
Many wallets the credit card slots are sideways, which may allow it to fit in to a slot. On the other hand, sitting on it could bend it over time? Not a good thing if so…
I went to a Credit Union and opened a new account. They gave me a charging device and it charges my iphone from almost empty to 100% in about one hour. It'll do that twice before it has to be recharged. It looks nice. It's slim and it was free. I sure beat either one of the devices shown here. Free is nice.
This is a rip-off if you ask me. There are many different models out there: TravelCard Plus, Clutch Charger, Auskang Portable Charger, and the TNTOR Ultra Thin Power Bank. I've personally used the TravelCard for a few trips, and it's great to keep in your pocket for emergencies. If you're out all day and need to call an Uber at the end of the night, it's great for peace of mind. I'm going to buy the TNTOR one next because it's only $20 USD, much cheaper than all the competition. Also, there are 2500mAh, 2500mAh, and 5000mAh versions. I like the smallest version to slip in my pocket. I have a normal 10,000mAh power bank for regular use while travelling that I keep in my backpack. This does not replace that one, just complements it.
Luckily I carry a purse. So I am happy with a much higher power brick to keep my phone and tablet going. I use to have a tiny thing like that and it didn't do enough if my phone was short on power.
yea its if it can't easily fit in your wallet, might as well get anything else that can fit in a pocket or fanny/sling bag for much bigger capacity and charge quicker. Picked up the anker 5000mah battery bank with the built in charger which is pretty convenient for $20 during prime day. Also picked up an anker 10000mah battery bank with a built in cable which is pretty convenient as well. very small can easily fit in my cargo pants lower pocket or fanny. Been listing anker but there are other brands that offer similar stuff too but yea in the end, but yea idk who the charge card is for at this price. The other issue would be if it did fit in your wallet properly... you'd likely forget its there after use and might be out and about and need it and forgot you already drained it.
I’m a back pocket kind of guy also, because the front pockets seem to lose the nice smooth look of the clothing with so much bulk in the front pockets. It seems like I will Not be purchasing the “charge card”…too bulky and not enough charge. BTW the Easter egg/pastel color of your shorts are a great color on you. TYANKS for posting.
That thing is ridiculously expensive for the capacity when it doesn't even fit in places it's designed to. Basically, I would say this is best used for an absolute emergency in your glove box or luggage, but then again, you can get much higher capacity with more charging amps for less money and not much more space.
2300 mah? nah man that won't even charge most phones these days to half. the only thing it's got going for it is form factor, but that price is too much
You gotta use both chargers under the EXACT same conditions. You should have waited until your battery was down to 15% again to charge it with the power bank.

It would propably fit better in a leather wallet. My Mum's allowed a ridiculous amount of cards in hers because the leather would stretch after awhile.
Oh my opinion it doesn't make sense to have that because there's no way you can charge that on the go because the charging cable is too small even if you plug it up with The Thing it's too small so if you want to look at your phone real quick and do something on your phone while you're charging and you can never do that
There are card holders that people can stick to the back of their phones. I don't know if it'd fit but I would imagine that would be the best use scenario.

This is one of those products which feels like someone came up with a funny idea based on a bad pun and worked back from there. Those products have a name: landfill.
Thank you for sharing your opinion on this charge card. I prefer the regular USB power bank, they work great. I make in door/outdoor fantasy water fountains, 3-4ft high, and I use USB mini water pumps the 3 gal's of water, and the fully charged USB power bank lasts up to 6-7 hours. After watching this video, I will not purchase the Charge card.
For only a 31% charge, this is definitely not worth the $50-$60 bucks. I wish phone makers would go back to replaceable batteries. Now, those were convenient as F; I used to carry two of them. They were so much better than portable phone chargers that are much larger, heavier, and typically have 15% energy transfer losses or higher.
Don't think this was a good comparison. I would have preferred you started with a 0% phone battery and then charged with the Credit Card Charger until it died and note the time. Then do the same with the power bank for the same amount of time. Then let us see what the charged % was for both.
Let's be real here, most people can get to an outlet before the phone dies. So that makes these useful in what, traveling and emergency situations. Just get a solar charger and sacrifice the gimmicky super small design that yields a weak 30% charge anyway.
I have something very similar to that which i bought from 5 Below for 5 bucks , this charge card thing is entirely too expensive and very worthless there is absolutely no way i would spend that much for that thing.....James you should get your money back for that because you have been ripped off big time.
I seriously doubt if anyone thought it was going to be like wow i keep pulling out my charger and thinking it's my credit card ."if it was going to be that type size
I can understand the show charging as it's better on the battery bank being so slim so it does not get crazy hot, but the capacity, and price is a crap, you are better off for a small charger just picking up a 4000mah battery bank from someplace like Walmart form the ONN brand for less than 10 bucks.
There is zero chance I'd put it in my wallet. Even a slight bend in a Li-ion battery and you're going to be heading to the ER with third degree burns on your posterior.
Yeah, I don’t get it. It already can’t fully charge any phone so why not make it credit card sized? It should also have a fold out usb c instead of a cable.
So, it's a power bank, but it's much worse. I don't know anyone who doesn't carry a small bag everywhere. Hell, even a 10,000mAh power bank can fit in most jacket pockets.
I really don't see the point, it doesnt fit in a credit card slot. Now if the battery was a wallet too, that would be neat. yea it would be thick but at least it would be dual purpose.
4:50 Charging a battery from a 0% to 50% is quicker than charging it from 50% to 100%. The emptier the battery, the less time it takes to charge one percent. So the Anker would be even quicker if they had the same starting conditions.
Also the cable used factors into the testing. Some cables are certified for more wattage which results into faster charging.
The moment he started the 2nd test with the phone at 46% I knew he had it all wrong lol.
To be fair, not a lot of people know how batteries charge and how charging times aren't linear. That being said, I still like and am okay with the testing methodology here because it gave the bigger power bank a disadvantage and it STILL beat the "card" charger.
Bending it could cause a short and fire. Gives a whole new meaning to pants on fire.

They make a Magsafe (magnetic Qi charger) version of this that will magnetically stick to the back of iPhones.
those can usually barely hold 4 cards, let alone the thickness of this being 6

Optimized charging on smartphones affects how fast it charges so it would be better to start both tests at 10% battery remaining.

this charge card thing is entirely too expensive and very worthless there is absolutely no way i would spend that much for that thing.....James you should get your money back for that because you have been ripped off big time.
Definitely wouldn't fit in any normal wallet I know.
Would love to see more affordable battery bank reviews!
3400 mAH... so the most you can charge your phone is about 2700mAH..... about 50% for most of phone in the market
I seriously doubt if anyone thought it was going to be like wow i keep pulling out my charger and thinking it's my credit card ."if it was going to be that type size
Price seems a bit steep to me
Back pocket guy using a plastic box as a wallet🧐🧐
Try it with the ridge wallet
60$ for tiny capacity and slow charging?
I can understand the show charging as it's better on the battery bank being so slim so it does not get crazy hot, but the capacity, and price is a crap, you are better off for a small charger just picking up a 4000mah battery bank from someplace like Walmart form the ONN brand for less than 10 bucks.
I got the new BOFA card as well, I like it
There is zero chance I'd put it in my wallet. Even a slight bend in a Li-ion battery and you're going to be heading to the ER with third degree burns on your posterior.
Don't know how shark tank got behind it if it fails at its goal to be the size of a credit card, then can't fit in a wallet...
You must test the cooling belt Sparkle Tornado. Semes awesome.
Basically it’s a powerbank with less capacity and higher price
I’m sold. This is not a good product. 60 for a wallet sized battery. Keep your convenience
I really don't see the point, it doesnt fit in a credit card slot. Now if the battery was a wallet too, that would be neat. yea it would be thick but at least it would be dual purpose.
I'm not putting a battery in my wallet.
For the price being charged this product is a borderline scam
It is a bit steep in price, but the small size is nice. I like that the cord attaches to the card so it is not lost.
But when that cable get lost good luck for finding new micro-usb => usb-c / lightning cable...
