A wonderful tip on taking the tabs on the back of the veneered panel off and reinstalling them. Thanks John.

Thank you soooo much. I removed my vents some time back as the rotating centre switch was pushed in by a previous owner and I couldn’t get the veneer panel to stay in.... and you’ve solved the mystery... can’t thank you enough - it’s the little things that to me are the most annoying.

Apologies for 20 seconds of dead air near the end of this video. Trimming it out right now.
2nd part out by tomorrow at the latest.

Strangely enough, this was the first job I had to do on my XK8 when I bought it back in 2011. The next jobs were the headrest cables, replacement of the peeling chrome wheels, better brake rotors and pads and Michelin tires. It's been great fun ever since. The rest you can read about in my XK8 Bible.

I've got to replace my clock/battery/oil cluster after the clock started to lose time. I was dreading removing the panel until I saw your video. Once I saw you remove it, I could see the screws to remove the clock cluster. I assume the clock will have some sort of push fit electrical connections. Nice work John!

Glad it helped. Yes the instruments have a simple multi plug at the back. Easy to disconnect and swap for another set👍

Hi John, Looking forward to your vent fix, mine on my 1997 XK8 coupe were much the same as yours I removed them to see if I could repair it, was going to have a go but then a good second hand one came up so got that, fitted it and about a year later they are still working fine. I think I kept the broken one so will find it and see if I can do your fix, what ever that maybe.
Many thanks for some great helpful videos.

Hi John. Its pretty simple and if you have a spare set to practice on, then you will be able to have some fun.
