  • Video 126 Short video showing how and where the dashboard HVAC system demister vent is located and retained. The dashboard is known to fail, resulting in the vent coming loose and rattling against the windscreen/windshield. We show how we fixed this issue and the unwanted noise. We did break some locations but shared this information so hopefully, if you try this you won't do the same.

Once again - thank you for these videos. Was able to fix mine without issue thanks to your guide. I used JB Plastic weld and my son's Nerf bullets over pencils to wedge against the windscreen and dash whilst the JB dried.

Paul, thank you for the feedback PB weld is probably a better bet than superglue. Glad it worked for you, regards Damian

Damian, great job thanks for posting. I did my passenger side vent this week. Easy enough following the video. Putting the dam thing back in was a horrible job but your drawings really helped. I made a tool to lift the metal tabs up and slide in the vents one at the time, then use what can only be described as unreasonable force to push the vent forward to engage the plastic tabs.
    Great job
    Thanks
    Brian

Udo, just a bit of a lesson for us. Sometimes things don’t always work out as well as you planned. Luckily didn’t make too bad a job of it in the end. Thanks for the comment, regards Damian

I tried epoxy and it failed. I tried gorilla construction glue and it failed. Keeps separating.

Wizard, my repair only partly worked too. The plastics are really old, hard and brittle. Thanks for your sharing your experience, regards Damian

    Had the same rattle
Solved it by neatly pushing black foam strip between the glass and dashboard where the black painted area is on the lowest point of the window
    Invisible fix

Craig, Agreed, I had done something similar myself for a few years. Having watched John on ‘UK Car Crush’ fix his I thought I would try to fix the issue rather than just the symptom. Didn’t completely go to plan hence the video warning on the potential outcome. Black foam works and probably not worth doing anything more unless it gets really worse. Thanks for the input and comment regards Damian

Maybe a heating gun to soften the plastic..

Alexander, Good idea. I was a bit too hasty with trying to force the clips. Maybe someone will show us how it should be done as it is not really clear. Thanks for the suggestion and comment regards Damian
