It's a shame we never got a sequel where the wreckage from the Monster House was used in the construction of that hotel it was blown up in then a few years later we get a sequel called Monster Hotel where the 3 kids return as teenagers to save the town from it.

Nebercracker has muscles from back when he built his house from the ground up. He's definitely strong enough to snap a tricycle in half.

That's Mr. Nebbercracker.
Theres some huge foreshadowing when Nebercracker returns from the hospital, with the box of dynamite on the lawn. Even before it got to the point where the house pulled itself out by the roots, Nebercracker was already at the breaking point. Whether she snapped or not, he'd made up his mind this was going to be the last year, once and for all.
On 2nd viewing, Nebercracker’s warning to the girl was legit. He seems to even briefly gets chocked up because of what he had to do.
I love his character because he truly just wants to protect these kids but feels like he has to scare them away to do it. such and interesting character motive I don't think I've seen anywhere else

I honestly never heard of Monster House as a kid until my uncle bought it for me on DVD as a birthday present.
Glad he did because this was one of my favorites, despite the fact that I don’t like horror-based films.

Fun Fact about Monster House: The safest place inside the house is the bathroom, because if anything comes to life in there, the water pipes will break and the house will drown herself from the inside.
You know how people like to say, "not fat, big boned"? In Constance's case, she actually was. It's all part of debunking the rumors about what happened to her.
I remember watching this in elementary school when I was younger. I don't know what exactly it was in the movie, but I remember being so scared to the point that I had to excuse myself and go to a different class and watch whatever they had there because it was less scary. But since my horror interest has increased, I enjoy watching this movie on Halloween, which is ironic since this wasn't released during October.

I watched it with my family and the flashback scene where the lady dies scared me so bad I had to close my eyes until my mom said it was done
Fun fact: Jason Lee is the voice for the babysitter’s boyfriend. Who also was the voice for Syndrome in The Incredibles and plays as Dave Seville in the live action Alvin and the Chipmunks franchise.

The twist about Nebercracker’s house was quite fascinating and tragic at the same time. He had a love in his life named Constance, but to assemble a house himself that was made following from a tragedy involving her? Yeah, it’s sad he had to go with this lie for years just to protect anyone who would come near.

I gotta admit when I watch Monster House, it’s almost like watching The Goonies in animation form. I highly recommend that film if you loved this one. Also I felt really bad both Nebercracker and Constance. He didn’t want to let her go due to his fear of being alone. She didn’t want to leave, because I think to her, he was the only one person who showed her kindness and love. So in her mind, she was protecting him from the outsiders. 🧑🏻🦱👱🏻♂️👩🏻🦰👴🏻👻👿🏠

Either that, or he learned it from his parents about this stuff. He immediately asked if there was any beer in the house, says that his mother is out with her personal trainer, and tells his dad to “kiss my hairy butt”. Chowder is not growing up in a child-friendly house tbh.
I like that Nebercracker wasn’t trying to scare or harm the kids he was trying to keep them safe, he was just under so much stress and he had to be scary for all those years that’s something no one could live with
I remember seeing this movie in theaters when I was a child. I didn’t like how it began with the little girl running away crying from her bike being ripped up. But she comes back and gets her bike back so it’s all good I guess.
I remember watching this movie at school, and to me it was pretty scary every time the house came to life. (btw, MalBread’s glasses are so cute.)

The quietest neighbourhood in all of fiction
I found this in a bargain bin. I vaguely remembered seeing trailers for it, but nobody ever talked about it. Out of curiosity I decided to buy it, and I loved it. I started showing it to any of my friends I could get to sit down and watch it with me.
This movie traumatised me as a kid. I still remember watching this at the movies and my mum got concerned about how quiet I got after watching this because normally we’d have a discussion about the movie and if I learned anything new (my mum is a teacher lol). All I said was that I wanted to go home and watch Scooby Doo lol.
I used to watch this movie every Halloween. It was only after my most recent viewing, 2014 I think, that I caught on to a lot of the adult jokes and language.
7:25 If you look closely there is a crack on the window that splits across DJ's neck. Showing that the house blames DJ for what happened to Nebbercracker and wants to kill him for revenge.
I remember watching this movie way back when it came out in the theatres. Underrated classic.
One thing that I always found so funny is that the house eats the dog and attacks Jenny in broad daylight and nobody else in the neighborhood seems to notice!

Such a childhood classic of mine, this used to be my little brothers favorite movie I actually watched this in film class the other week
This has always been my favorite animated Halloween esque movie and I just love the story, and concept of it and I am glad that you reacted to it. This was done with motion capture definitely similar to The Polar Express. I love Steve Buscemi and he also did the voice of Randall in Monsters Inc./Unv. For them to keep the PG rating, all the house's victims had to be shown coming back at the end, and the original screenplay was much darker were DJ lures two bullies to the house to dispatch them.
As a kid, I remember getting absolutely scared with this movie especially the scene with DJ's nightmare but even as a kid, I felt soo bad with Constance and understood quickly what Nebbercracker was doing all along after watching his backstory.

I saw this when it came out I was 16 I think the scariest part to me was the part where the guy always sleeping and the giant hand come through the window and tries to grab at him that's pure nightmare fuel.

I can’t wait to see more reactions of frightening children’s movies! Because there are plenty that are quite unnerving such as Little Monsters, The Brave Little Toaster, and Return to Oz.
This movie is basically Stranger Things or IT 2017 without all the trauma and different monsters destroying reality itself

I was confused as to why and how those kids got there in the middle of nowhere when they tormented Constance as the house was being built. Where were their parents?
One of the best animated movies 🎥 of 2006, and probably the one of the best Halloween 🎃 movies 🎥 of all time.
This movie was meant to mimic the look of stop-motion characters and was released in 3D, which explains all of the camera movements.

This is by the same studio that made Polar Express. After Polar gave them a huge Christmas hit It's interesting to see their dip into Halloween.

This and Hoodwinked are underrated gems! The latter suffered from poor animation but made up for it with solid story and decent characters.

The actor who played nebbercraker his name is Steve Buscemi and he looks like the character in this movie, Steve Buscemi was a New York City Firefighter from 1980 to 1984 with engine company no 55 in the Little Italy section of New York, the day after the September 11 attacks in New York, he returned to his old firehouse to volunteer, he worked twelve hour shift for a week and dug through rubble looks for missing firefighters, on May 25 2003 he was arrested with nineteen other people while protesting the closing of a number of firehouses, including engine 55

I didn't watch this movie initially because I thought the CG animation was...a tad unappealing. But as an adult, curiosity got the best of me, I watched it and I'm glad I saw it. This felt like an 1980s "kids" movie made in 2006. The twist was a real surprise and was very dark, sad, yet kinda sweet at the same time...but its mostly sad. The house was legit terrifying and the real star of this movie. You mentioned Paranorman in the beginning. Have you seen it? If not, I totally recommend and the animation, I would argue, is way better.
When i rewatched the movie, i noticed when the shadow went into dj’s house, it wasn’t just some scary hand, it was Constance’s hand.

I’m not gonna lie, I avoided watching all kinds of horror movies when I was a kid, this movie was included, because it was too scary for me to handle. To this day, some horror movies are still too terrifying for me to handle.

I remember watching this movie in theaters, I was only 6. My dad had to take my out for a bit because I was scared LOL still a classic Halloween movie in my opinion

For those of you that are wondering, it was Kevin James and Nick Cannon as the voices of the police officers.
People are split on this one but I love it. It has that Goosebumps feel to it and I saw it when I was growing up out of thouse books. So to me this is the last Goosebumps book

It's great to see you, thank you for uploading Monster House, I remember seeing it as a kid and I remember being very terrified of the house, and a little bit of Mr. Nebbercracker to be honest, but now I realize why he wanted to keep everyone away from his house, to protect them from her possessive, vengeful, and traumatic rage. I think this movie was very ahead of its time, although some parts of it are pretty outdated now, and it definitely gave me my first legit taste of a horror movie experience, and I love it!
In Monster House, a creepy old man plays Mr Nebbercracker.
Side note, in light of Angela Lansbury's recent passing (she had a good run, going at 96, still sad though), I'd like to suggest that we see a few more of her movies on this channel. My suggestions:
Death on the Nile (1978) where she plays a hilarious Salome Ottorbourne (the 2021 movie is really different but still a fun watch, this movie makes a lot of changes to the original story as well, but in both movies the 'who-done-it' is the same which is what we really watch murder mysteries for)
The Mirror Crack'd (1980) where she plays Miss Marple (movie also starring Kim Novak, Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and Tony Curtis).
The Manchurian candidate (1962), sort of a 'reds under the beds' movie but chiefly a psychological movie about power struggles, very gripping even if it is a product of its time, she gives a great performance there. Also would like to see you compare it to the 2004 remake, see which one you like more.

I absolutely loved Monster House as a kid. I would watch this every Halloween season, even today. It’s like an animated horror movie for kids and it’s so fun because of it. Though it never scared me, the design of the House was creatively terrifying.

If you had fun with this movie, one I think you'll enjoy is the Goonies. It has so many funny and cool moments like this one. Standout moments include when the kids break a mini statue of David and the privates fall off, one of the kids, Chunk, tries to throw a candy bar while tied up to another guy, and another kid Mouth, keeps mistranslating to the new spanish housekeeper on purpose to mess with her.
Hold up. Dan Harmon worked on the Story this movie?? I had no idea!

Oh my gosh, no!! This freaking movie, so memories watching this many times back when I was little. I do remember many people will tell me watching this now consider this a boring story, honestly it really ain't that bad (😅). High key #TimotheeReacts, I still reference this to this day, but all of it is mostly from the first scene when we meet the officers, "We'll aim for bigfoot (😅). That's loaded!!" Then Chowder facial expression from when earlier in the movie after DJ explains he's too old for trick r' treating, that face Chower makes (lmao). 4:37
