Yes Excalibur is annoying on commentary! He’s knowledgeable, but awkward and not enjoyable to listen to. Taz is the only worthwhile commentator on AEW. He’s often funny, sometimes he lags, but the others haven’t given him much to work with or respond to.
I couldn't agree more. And Taz also knows the correct name for all the moves and EXPLAINS them properly as well. So much better than Excalibur. He has similar knowledge as Excalibur but deeper AND he has a sense of humour and personality. One of the best things about 'Elevation' and 'Dark' is when they have Taz commentating WITH Excalibur he spends most of the time taking the piss and CORRECTING him and exposing Excaliburs' real level.
I can forgive Excalibur's commentary, he might grow and get better. The thing I can't forgive him for is that dumb mask. Immediately makes the whole company look phony. If he'd just been a guy in a suit he would have been fine, at least, not so bad that Taz or JR couldn't carry him

PCO had nothing but good things to say about Brody after his time in ROH. And I liked what I saw of him there as a presence, a talker, leader of a faction. VLNC UNLTD was cool.
Imo it was an updated Bret Hart over Diesel at Survivor Series 95. Of course Hart was better and so was Nash and they got the same or better reaction with 1 powerbomb AFTER the table and after Bret rolled Nash up.
I was fine with the CM Punk vs Wardlow match until Aubrey's slow-ass 10 count and the roll up by Punk. You mean to tell after all those powerbombs, Punk-so weak he couldn't stand-not only had the strength to roll up Wardlow, but Wardlow-who was pretty much fresh-couldn't kick out before 3? I know wrestling is scripted, but my suspension of disbelief can only go so far.
Wardlow is so much better than all of it. Agreed. They should have let punk get the count out and take a L. This made Wardlow look a little weak. It could have been worse though. At least it was a surprise pin and not some adrenaline dump and Punk just beats everyone’s ass. Hopefully they treat it with more common sense soon.

That way, Punk wins by DQ, so Punk still gets the win, but it leaves him battered and broken and set up his match with Spears the next week. Wardlow still looks good because he would have won the match if it wasn't for the interference and further sets up him turning on the Pinnacle.

Jay Lethal does not automatically mean Lio Rush is gone. In ROH, Jay Lethal was one of the men who approved of 2015(?) Top Prospect Rush, so this could just be a demotion. Lio Rush going from mentor to the mentored along with Dante Martin. "You both need work." Dante Martin has a brother, and then another four five man group if Sonny Kiss is in it too. Sonny Kiss was a jobber in ROH(was he rejected at a do or die?), so that could also tie him in(you REALLY need some work). They could be AEW's equivalent of Search And Destroy...which also involved Lio Rush being mentored, but oh well. You can say Lio Rush's education was never completed because Shane Taylor destroyed him and Donovan Dijak before sending them out of ROH to WWE nXt. That Lethal will promise to see Rush's training through this time. Then Powerhouse Hobbs can promise to destroy Rush more thoroughly than Shane Taylor ever did.
As an amateur booker, I might have called an audible and just had Wardlow win after the eighth power bomb and had Punk get his win back later. Or, if Wardlow wins with four power bomb, have MJF stop him at three, set up the table, but take too long so Wardlow goes through it instead...but just having Wardlow win then lose later sounds better to me.
Pairing Britt Baker (their biggest star) with Adam Cole is a HUGE misstep. I hope they change course on that mess quickly, but I doubt it because I already got an email advertising a DMD Babay t-shirt 🙄
Adam Cole's size has been in flux since 2016, maybe 2014. If it stabilized in WWE NXT, good for him, but in PWG "Adam Cole is skinny" "Adam Cole is fat" were memes, and they indeed started when he lost weight due to an illness and had trouble getting it back together even after he was well again. I saw the two face off. Adam Cole is at least three inches taller and likely twenty pounds heavier than Kris Statlander, but the size comparison really did make me think. Cole's neck is okay, but he really could afford to do some pushups, something for his shoulders too. That weight he has on her is probably entirely due his three inches of height and the greater amount of lean tissue in the male body. Please tone this guy up! I haven't been nice to Statlander in my AEW comments, I've been thinking about all the better wrestlers AEW should have signed, I still haven't forgiven the gymnast for doing cartwheels around the ring while her opponent stood and watched, but I didn't realize Statlander has only been wrestling five years. Since two of those were in the pandemic, she really has three and half years worth of experience. I still don't like her, but now realize it's not entirely her fault. Putting her with Pockets wasn't a recipe for improving her wrestling psychology
It was easier to overlook the bad booking and gymnastic routine matches before this injection of seasoned talent such as CM Punk, etc. They're a new company trying to find its footing, with a lot of green talent, OK I'll grade on a curve. But now, when you can see a Punk or Danielson match right before the typical AEW style match/booking its such a stark contrast. It's the equivalent of a pizza restaurant that serves bad Chuckee Cheese pizza then hires someone to come in and make a handmade neopalitan style pizza with great ingredients. And still insist on serving the chuckee cheese stuff. The rest of AEW should be watching these high quality presentations and say to themselves "I have to improve." And this includes Tony Kahn. Ratings are stagnant to increasing as they hotshot every few weeks. But I think unless the company as a whole tries to raise their quality to meet CM Punks efforts they will lose viewers. I'm less inclined to watch now, because it's clear each show will be mostly gymnastic routines, and booking that lacks detail or continuity. Oh and burying of any tag teams that would expose the Young Bucks.

I disagree. Excalibur did what they do on commentary too much. Sell injuries or doubt without the wrestlers actually doing it. They did same shit with Sammy vs Dustin. Asking is he too hurt to continue with the ribs tapes then he does a damn cross body lol. Those 5-6 powerbombs aren't any worse than the spiked pile drivers even Jungle Boy kicks out of and continues going.

The Punk/Wardlow match reminded me of Sting vs Nikita Koloff at the June 1991 Clash of Champions. Nikita jumpstart and kicks the shit out of Sting the entire match. Misses a Sickle in the corner, and Sting rolled him up for 3. The roll up was Sting's only "offensive" move.
Well in the end I think they cheered him, so I don't know if the AEW is that stupid or it was an edit done by AEW. Also the fact Cody gave a promo about no turning heel really shows how clueless he is.
I have to agree about the table spots every freaking shoe. Once in awhile is fine, but every week judt to do a table spot. I'm a huge AEW fan but this shit is getting ridiculous. It's hard to try watching this crap and it's why I dont.
I grew up on Bret Hart wrestling. Or that type of wrestling is what I appreciated and loved most. It's so hilarious to go through the library of these reviews and hear how absurd the aerial spots and injuries are. Not hilarious, just kinda sad and inevitable. Asking Sting to do any type of dive is disrespectful, as a booker and boss. Having Jeff Hardy in any type of ladder match is insane. Booker of the year! I know none of that pertains to this episode, just saying.
This Dynamite had disappointing moments. But like I’ve said on other clips, there were good moments that felt like a reset, and the production value was better. This show was followed by a decent Rampage. The criticism around the Undisputed Era is valid. The rest is a lot of nitpicking.

Sorry but I always thought Undisputed Era were a lame faction that the hard-core wrestling fans creamed their pants over. They were kept on top for way too long in NXT but I do admit that they had fans but those diehard anti WWE fans wanted them to be in AEW so bad like they were the second coming of Hall,Nash and Hogan and now they're linked with another lame group with the Elite.
I'm someone that watches the TV shows and watches or skims through the TH-cam shows so I'm caught up on everything but it must really be very confusing and suck for those watching just the television stuff because when I think about it I do see where everything can get confusing or whatever he gives them wins on dark but keeps them off Dynamite for weeks to months and then brings them on Dynamite randomly for them to lose even though they've been winning on dark the people who don't watch that s*** just saw that person return after a month or whatever just to lose and it does make them look bad I would assume that's got to suck

Adam Cole's size has been in flux since 2016, maybe 2014. If it stabilized in WWE NXT, good for him, but in PWG "Adam Cole is skinny" "Adam Cole is fat" were memes, and they indeed started when he lost weight due to an illness and had trouble getting it back together even after he was well again.
I saw the two face off. Adam Cole is at least three inches taller and likely twenty pounds heavier than Kris Statlander, but the size comparison really did make me think. Cole's neck is okay, but he really could afford to do some pushups, something for his shoulders too. That weight he has on her is probably entirely due his three inches of height and the greater amount of lean tissue in the male body. Please tone this guy up! I haven't been nice to Statlander in my AEW comments, I've been thinking about all the better wrestlers AEW should have signed, I still haven't forgiven the gymnast for doing cartwheels around the ring while her opponent stood and watched, but I didn't realize Statlander has only been wrestling five years. Since two of those were in the pandemic, she really has three and half years worth of experience. I still don't like her, but now realize it's not entirely her fault. Putting her with Pockets wasn't a recipe for improving her wrestling psychology
It was easier to overlook the bad booking and gymnastic routine matches before this injection of seasoned talent such as CM Punk, etc. They're a new company trying to find its footing, with a lot of green talent, OK I'll grade on a curve.
But now, when you can see a Punk or Danielson match right before the typical AEW style match/booking its such a stark contrast.
It's the equivalent of a pizza restaurant that serves bad Chuckee Cheese pizza then hires someone to come in and make a handmade neopalitan style pizza with great ingredients. And still insist on serving the chuckee cheese stuff.
The rest of AEW should be watching these high quality presentations and say to themselves "I have to improve." And this includes Tony Kahn.
Ratings are stagnant to increasing as they hotshot every few weeks. But I think unless the company as a whole tries to raise their quality to meet CM Punks efforts they will lose viewers.
I'm less inclined to watch now, because it's clear each show will be mostly gymnastic routines, and booking that lacks detail or continuity. Oh and burying of any tag teams that would expose the Young Bucks.

I disagree. Excalibur did what they do on commentary too much. Sell injuries or doubt without the wrestlers actually doing it. They did same shit with Sammy vs Dustin. Asking is he too hurt to continue with the ribs tapes then he does a damn cross body lol. Those 5-6 powerbombs aren't any worse than the spiked pile drivers even Jungle Boy kicks out of and continues going.

The Punk/Wardlow match reminded me of Sting vs Nikita Koloff at the June 1991 Clash of Champions. Nikita jumpstart and kicks the shit out of Sting the entire match. Misses a Sickle in the corner, and Sting rolled him up for 3. The roll up was Sting's only "offensive" move.

I have to agree about the table spots every freaking shoe. Once in awhile is fine, but every week judt to do a table spot. I'm a huge AEW fan but this shit is getting ridiculous. I grew up on Bret Hart wrestling. Or that type of wrestling is what I appreciated and loved most. It's so hilarious to go through the library of these reviews and hear how absurd the aerial spots and injuries are.
Not hilarious, just kinda sad and inevitable. Asking Sting to do any type of dive is disrespectful, as a booker and boss. Having Jeff Hardy in any type of ladder match is insane.

This Dynamite had disappointing moments. But like I’ve said on other clips, there were good moments that felt like a reset, and the production value was better. This show was followed by a decent Rampage. The criticism around the Undisputed Era is valid. The rest is a lot of nitpicking.
That's the brand here. Look at the comment about wanting him to review NXT 2.0 just to bury things. People come here for negativity not objectivity.

Sorry but I always thought Undisputed Era were a lame faction that the hard-core wrestling fans creamed their pants over. I'm someone that watches the TV shows and watches or skims through the TH-cam shows so I'm caught up on everything but it must really be very confusing and suck for those watching just the television stuff because when I think about it I do see where everything can get confusing or whatever he gives them wins on dark but keeps them off Dynamite for weeks to months and then brings them on Dynamite randomly for them to lose even though they've been winning on dark the people who don't watch that s*** just saw that person return after a month or whatever just to lose and it does make them look bad I would assume that's got to suck

because it's not on TV? I watch more TH-cam than I watch TV to be honest I'm not sticking up for aew or anything dark and elevation are usually trash. I'm just saying that it's not like TH-cam isn't an extremely relevant media platform one would argue almost more than television these days. It's almost more of a pain in the ass to log into my cable box and figure out what channel things are on then to just go on TH-cam type in what I want to watch and it's right there. To be honest cable television is somewhat archaic most people stream these days at least people under 50.
