With a good one on one promo between Archer and Page with the chokeslam on the stairs and medics coming out to stretcher out Page would have been everything you need. It makes Archer look like a threat and gives Page a reason to accept the deathmatch. AEW just does too much for anyone with an IQ above their shoe size to believe.

This promotion is more frustrating than WWE because it actually has the potential to be amazing because corporate BS can't hold it back. But they just can't get out of their own way. Personally, I blame the EVP Young Bucks for 99% of the non-sense on the show.
I not only gave up on AEW but gave up on the channel that played the show here in Canada just like I did with the WWE and the channel that carries their content. I'm down to NWA and Impact with nowhere else to go.
@@kevin339 idk man BTE used to be really good before they left it to younger talent etc. Pre-AEW the side storyline worked really well with NJPW/ROH due to their lack of chronological access. Many didn't know how to keep up with all the NJPW/ROH content so the TH-cam channel helped a lot.

In my opinion, The show has taken a downturn since the Danielson vs Hangman rematch. There's been clear production mess ups, Booking that in my opinion leaves much to be desired when you consider the cards from top to bottom. For example: Why the hell is Lance Archer with Dan Lambert? Why is he feuding with Hangman, Coming in with zero momentum? Why is Brandi Rhodes all of a sudden on TV? Which by the way a BAD segment besides Dan Lambert cutting a decent promo. Even the MJF & Punk match, Which was an ok match by their standards, Was a bit underwhelming because they killed the crowd reactions by the time the main event was ready to go (Which says something when your in Chicago). I also think adding Brody King by Malakai's side, Has killed some of his mystic. They should have kept Malakai's theme at the minimum. As for the Andrade & Matt Hardy segments. WHY the hell is Andrade, Put in promos/segments, Where there is verbal exchanges and they keep trying to have him do the segments in English. It's f*cking hard to watch, It's literally like watching someone have verbal CONSTIPATION and they aren't capitalizing on HOW TO use him. Have him to vignettes/promos, PRE-TAPED, Somewhere in the back, Cutting the promos in Spanish and add English subtitles. It's the same thing they have done with Pentagon & Fenix and I believe Hikaru Shida. He doesn't need to have verbal wars in front of a live crowd to get over. Just stick with the pre-taped promos and physical angles and then let him do the rest of the talking in his matches. The prototype was how AAA presented him. It's really frustrating because AEW has really good talent from top to bottom but they don't capitalize on them. I'm worried now that out of the free agents now available, They are gonna make the effort to sign the WRONG FREE AGENTS. By that, I mean if their name is Johnny Gargano, Killer Kross, Windham, Shane Strickland, The Briscoes, Toni Storm or Buddy Matthews, Don't even think about it, In terms of who is available.

Create events that are special to win, Like NJPW has with the New Japan Cup, G1 Climax, etc. Like WWE does with the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank, etc.

They had a 6 week bump during which Punk, Danielson, and Cole debuted and they ran the outdoor show at Arthur Ashe where they loaded up the card as much as AEW can. At the end of 6 weeks ratings were lower than when all that started and they still haven't recovered. One blip does not make momentum.

Trust me, AEW has their flaws. I'm the first to call them out. For all the credit Tony gets for being a good booker by marks, I see differently. They SHOULD be drawing Monday Night RAWS television rating at a minimum, With the talent roster they have. Half the problem is booking and the other half is formatting & production.
WWE is more even, bad from top to bottom. AEW is more hectic, some of it is incredible good, some of it is equally bad. Just sad. There is so much potential in AEW to be truly better than WWE right now, but the potential just sits there. WWE is right not to fear AEW because they shoot themselves in the foot with every show they do.
It's the sign of an inexperienced booker that shouldn't be booking. If Tony put say, Arn Anderson, or Tully on the book. At least it would be comprehensible and they could likely take advantage of momentum gains.

They had a 6 week bump during which Punk, Danielson, and Cole debuted and they ran the outdoor show at Arthur Ashe where they loaded up the card as much as AEW can. At the end of 6 weeks ratings were lower than when all that started and they still haven't recovered. One blip does not make momentum.

Trust me, AEW has their flaws. I'm the first to call them out. For all the credit Tony gets for being a good booker by marks, I see differently. They SHOULD be drawing Monday Night RAWS television rating at a minimum, With the talent roster they have. Half the problem is booking and the other half is formatting & production.

WWE is more even, bad from top to bottom. AEW is more hectic, some of it is incredible good, some of it is equally bad. Just sad. There is so much potential in AEW to be truly better than WWE right now, but the potential just sits there. WWE is right not to fear AEW because they shoot themselves in the foot with every show they do.
It's the sign of an inexperienced booker that shouldn't be booking. If Tony put say, Arn Anderson, or Tully on the book. At least it would be comprehensible and they could likely take advantage of momentum gains.
