You have to understand that despite all that’s happened, he’s very hurt by this and was forced to remove himself from the situation , which is why he’s so hard on himself. He idolized her and she took advantage of that and thrives on that power dynamic. It was basically a toxic , one sided relationship. Hopefully he can get therapy because being manipulated like that can really change a person mentally/emotionally .
