They most likely will eventually. Just wait a few years. I’m a Fender guy through-and-through, but they have definitely become very “corporate” over the last couple decades. They’ll churn out anything if it will make a dollar. Still, it would be cool to see a Robert Smith Jazzmaster 👍
It would be cool but I have my doubts. The middle pickup was off a cheap department store made in Japan guitar, basically a rebranded teisco. Might be hard to get a reproduction of that pickup for any large run.
@@IRieAsAVirus37 it's a good time to buy wide range pickups. Fender is finally making an accurate wide range humbucker with the correct magnets. I've also heard lollar makes a good wide range humbucker.

Hi there, How would the output of the teisco pickup be described against the more known humbuckers, stratocaster single coils etc ? Disregarding the effect of the pickup position and width ofcourse.
@@LordFuzzman I managed to transform a jazzmaster pickup in this one's width and trying to get as close as possible. You think it could it be done with some audio transformations/effects ? I was thinking about EQ cutting the proximity effect region (~200 Hz). Also, since they're microphonic do they have a proximity effect similar to cardioid microphones ?
The guitar I used in this video was a modified classic vibe Jazzmaster. Obviously the build quality is better on a fender and more time is spent on the frets and set up. In reality it’s not a huge difference but you can feel the Squier is the cheaper guitar for sure.
Very nice! I’d love to hear your thoughts on how important the Top 20 pickup is to the early cure sound. I think he used it a lot on the first album, but I’m not sure after that. I’m mainly interested in seventeen seconds and faith. I’m planning a jazzmaster build…I’d rather keep it traditional, but if that pickup is an essential part of the sound I’ll reconsider. Thanks!
I think the clean Roland amp is probably more essential but that pick up just adds something in the mids that you hear as the early Cure sound. It’s very subtle but it’s there.
Interesting. I have a 1976 JC-120, so I’ve got that covered. I could probably use talent more than a pickup, but I’m intrigued. :) I’d love it if you could do a comparison between the stock pickups and the Top 20, or maybe share any build experiences you have. Thanks!
