This song is quite different from the majority of The Cure's catalogue, I grew up listening and loving this song but I didn't care for their 80s classics either... whenever "Boys Don't Cry" appeared on MTV, I would change the channel... because it's a melancholic sadness that I can't bear listen to all the time... "Friday I'm in Love" has sadness, yes, but it also has a carefree optimism, almost naive but never cynical.
Grande insegnante,in questa canzone i tuoi bambini oltre ad imparare l'inglese possono percepire la spensieratezza e la gioia di vivere che c'era negli anni '80.❤
Please don't stop playing, you have to keep playing it, it is the best song about the cure, and this cure makes us very romantic, I love this song so much, it is the best without a doubt.
When my mom was a teenager in the 80s, she loved The Cure. They are one of her favorite bands. She always wanted to see them in concert, but they stopped touring until recently. I managed to get her tickets to the concert in Atlanta for all of us to go to. Let’s just say that my mom is very happy❤️

I never listened to the Cure until I got married. My husband and I were married on Friday, and he suggested this song be our first dance. It was perfect and beautiful.

Today January 5, another friday i come to listen this amazing song, absolutely love The Cure, and i'll make sure that i'll be here every friday. Sending love for all people around the world keeping good music alive.
The Cure saved my life.... I was ready to give up on everything and then out of nowhere The Cure came on and they saved me!! I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them.. 😭
Growing up, I was no fan of the Cure, was into my pop culture, now as time flies, this song takes me back, and how many times friends played it - friends no longer here .. and finally I love this song and the freedom of youth it gave - i since love all the cures music, may be I was in my own way a secret fan - lost in the convention of normal society and a secret goth .. be happy, be merry and live life to your max - thanks for the upload, i write this with tears of lost years ... x
that's very sweet...feel the same, music takes me back, way back to what i also feel are lost years, but as long as they are remembered somehow they're not fully lost
Did you see them in Massachusetts? I saw them Sunday night at Xfinity in Mansfield MA what a show !!!! I’m still smiling !! I took my 3 kids and one or two others almost 20 years ago …We had a blast !! This time around I had the distinct pleasure of having my 17 yr old grandson and his adorable little goth gf join us … Another generation of CURE fans ❤
This song has really bittersweet memories for me. I first heard it when I moved to Sheffield for university in 2010 and my flatmate introduced The Cure to me during freshers week. We were both doing geography and ended up spending nearly all of our time together. We'd listen to this song every night when we were getting ready to go out and it never got old. One Friday night we were in Leadmill and this song came on, she was at the bar and I was coming out of the bathroom and it was our instinct to both find each other and dance to it. We were so happy. She passed away in a car accident a couple of months later. I can't hear this song without seeing her face in that club. It's so mundane but it was genuinely one of the happiest moments of my life. I love you Gabby, and still miss you every day.
For me the song Friday I'm in love represents the feeling of being off of work for the weekend and being able to dream of what it would be like to tour the world and not have to commute every day to work. The video is a fantasy world we all would like to be a part of. Thank you Robert Smith and Simon as well as the other members of The Cure for making us part of your world!
Oh God, I can’t believe I found it. The intro from this song was always playing during the morning news on a local radio station where I lived when I was a little kid. I heard it almost every day before school for several years and I really loved it. When I grew up I tried to found it but didn’t know how. I even tried humming it to Shazam, but obviously it didn’t work. 😅 And now 20 years later all of the sudden TH-cam recommended this video to me. For the first time I can listen to the full song and it is beautiful. So many memories from childhood… damn. Thank you The Cure and TH-cam. People in the comments, I love all of you.
Finally found this song. When things were difficult, my father bought me a tape recorder. And the first song was her... back in 1993. Now I’m 45+, I listen and cry.... Good song, legendary song(. Hello from Kazakhstan 😊
It's about suicide. A working man is oppressed by capitalism and cannot even enjoy the weekends and commits suicide on Friday without "hesitation". "But Friday, never hesitate"
This song reminds me my friend from the high school who passed by last year. He was a source of light and vibe and loved this masterpiece, he really let himself go to this song. Life is too short, we must enjoy every moment as if it was the last one.
Same here, pal. I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I lost my best Uni pal in ‘95. He bought me the Wish album for my birthday when we shared halls. He died in an accident about 3 years after it came out. Just 2 days after he graduated. Listening to Pictures of You from Disintegration absolutely breaks my heart - but listening to Wish, and this song especially, just makes me think of him and smile like heck, and remember all the good times when we would just crack up and dance around the place. We need songs that help us do both, eh? It’s been 26 years and I’ve never forgotten him. And I swore to his parents at his funeral I would a) never lose touch with them, and b) never stop telling people that he lived on this planet and was the best friend you could hope for… I wish you healing my friend.
@@Shelsight Im sorry for Your loss friend, Your Story made me reflect on how much we should appreciate our friends and family, you were incredibly nice of keeping touch with them. Hope you are doing fine as well!
@@vitoralmeida2680 thanks Vitor. It’s still raw sometimes, on anniversaries or random moments that hit you. But I’m still in touch with his parents and brothers, so we still share stories and memories. And I agree with you - it’s made me more aware of staying in touch with friends. I hope you do too. Thanks for the note :)
The Cure has been my cure any day of the week! Their songs will take you out of your griefs and anxiety, while freeing you from depression. I’ve been a sufferer of misery my whole life. From childhood cancer, kidney disease as an adult, while also having surgery to remove a brain tumor the size of my hand I passed away. Several hours later I awoke to scare the nurse, who said the doc is on his way to declare my death! I was shocked. The doc and I laughed. I was depressed soon afterward because I had to learn to walk and talk again. The week I got home my wife left me. She had heard the doc say it’ll take me 8 to 10 months to recover. I had some complications and returned to the doc and he found another tumor. Thank god it was small. I was in gamma knife surgery a few days later. I went blind and deaf afterwards on the right side. I had no one to help me recover but my folks. So with $250,000 in doc bills and medical debt I went bankrupt. It’s taken me 10+ years to recover. But its the Cure that’s help uplift me from deep depression. Love The Cure 💕
Wow just wow. I’m sorry you had gone through all that man. When someone loves their partner doesn’t bail out on their man so easily. She was a a selfish person. At least you saw her true colors sooner than later
Oh damn, that's a lot pain and suffer I kinda relate since half of my fam have disease (down syndrome for sister, brother has mental retardation and mom's been healing from breast cancer). I can only wish you only the best, long live and God bless 🤝

I love This kind of music for many reasons, during my best year of youth mostly, great times in school and so on, can I find someone else listening it again this 2020?
This is one of those songs that's very happy and uplifting, but just makes me melancholic and nostalgic 😔I have a whole list of "happy" songs that do this to me. Anyone else?
Yes it's bittersweet, remembering the crazy boyfriend I had and the wild times I had at the weekends, after been in my sensible job all week. Wish I could have one more Friday like that!
Love this band. Went to see them at a Dallas concert decades ago and they were amazing. At the end of the show they kept doing encore after encore for the fans, just unforgettable.
@@brandydougan4270 Yeah, our musical taste also changes as well, at least for me. Songs that used to be okay now seem to be awesome! Likewise, songs that seemed to be awesome is now only okay.
1st thing they wrote this as a joke and weren’t expecting it to be so loved. 2nd thing this is the one song that proved to me that even Robert Smith has some joy in his soul. 3rd I love every second of this song
This song is very nostalgic to me and I'll never forget it. I remember I was in charge of the lighting, curtains and music during my year 6 play which was one of the very last events at my primary school (elementary for people in the US) I'll never forget the strange but nice feeling I got from closing the curtains after the final scene and slowly turning up the volume to put on this song as everyone was getting up to cheer and congratulate their kids. That was over 7 years ago, time sure does go by too quickly 9 years ago now, miss those days!
Well, my english teacher put this song back in 4th grade for this very same reason (my main language is not english). I can't even remember her name, but i'm very thankful that she introduced me to this amazing band!
The week before my wife passed, she didn’t eat a thing. The day before she died, I woke up in the middle of the night to find her in the kitchen eating a piece of toast. My god it was such a beautiful sight.
Today is february 2, its morning in here, but it is already friday, time to listen to this awesome song from one of my favorite bands, sending love to all the people who are reading this and listening this great song, i love The Cure, i love this song. Hope y'all have a good friday! 😊
Please don't stop playing, you have to keep playing it, it is the best song about the cure, and this cure makes us very romantic, I love this song so much, it is the best without a doubt.
The first 7 notes are beautiful. It becomes a main theme of the song, developing into a full instrumental counterpoint to the melody of the singers. Music written during this time was so meticulously crafted and intelligently designed that we had no clue what we'd be missing when this high level of talent appeared to disappear in the the 2000-2010s.
@@fladmus you're right, I could have just said that instead of giving a music theory lesson. 40 going on 41 soon here. Who knew I'd miss these cheesy anthems of yesteryear so much? Simply nothing has matched them, with the possible exception of We Are Young by Fun, 2011. That was like the last good anthem. Oh well.
@@andrewstevenson118 you're a good man. If that kind of thing happens to me (with a man) I'll be playing him Touch and Go by the Cars ;) that song is my personality in a nutshell.
@@MrPianogeek Awesome. "The Cars" was the first band I liked when I was a kid. Maybe ten or so? The change in pace in Touch and Go (or whatever you call it - not a musician!) about 45 seconds in is great.

Tuesday, Wednesday, stay in bed
Or Thursday, watch the walls instead

Saturday, wait
And Sunday always comes too late
But Friday, never hesitate
2:06 [Bridge]
Dressed up to the eyes, it's a wonderful surprise
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
Throwing out your frown and just smiling at the sound
As sleek as a sheik spinning round and round
Always take a big bite, it's such a gorgeous sight
To see you eat in the middle of the night
You can never get enough, enough of this stuff
It's Friday, I'm in love

The power of music. Don't ever miss the signs from God. Loves you and me and everyone.
Hang in there!
Growing up, I was no fan of the Cure, was into my pop culture, now as time flies, this song takes me back, and how many times friends played it - friends no longer here .. and finally I love this song and the freedom of youth it gave - i since love all the cures music, may be I was in my own way a secret fan - lost in the convention of normal society and a secret goth .. be happy, be merry and live life to your max - thanks for the upload, i write this with tears of lost years ... x
I didn't like them back then either, but they grew on me. They had the staying power. I enjoy listening to them now, again and again.
that's very sweet...feel the same, music takes me back, way back to what i also feel are lost years, but as long as they are remembered somehow they're not fully lost
I lost the love of my life back in the day. We loved this music.
I’ve loved this song since I first heard it and now it still is great when I’m 73😇
It’s Friday and I’m in love with this song, especially today, because I will see them in concert Sunday. I’ve waited a couple of decades. 😍
Ohhh, you’re in for a treat! 😍
Did you see them in Massachusetts? I saw them Sunday night at Xfinity in Mansfield MA
what a show !!!! I’m still smiling !! I took my 3 kids and one or two others almost 20 years ago …We had a blast !! This time around I had the distinct pleasure of having my 17 yr old grandson and his adorable little goth gf join us … Another generation of CURE fans ❤
Me too - tomorrow!!!
Same! I've loved them since 8th grade and just saw them in May. I'm 45!
Wow. That is really upsetting. RIP Gabby.
Im so sorry for your loss
I actually teared up at this comment!
Life is so bitter sometimes 😔
That's a beautiful story, ma'am. Captures things we've felt, places we've been.

I didn't know it was Friday here when I decided to play this song on youtube lol
I tried to listen on a Thursday but it didn't even start.

I have to disagree there, I’ve personally always thought there’s something extremely melancholy and sad about this tune. Fantastic song either way

This song reminds me my friend from the high school who passed by last year. He was a source of light and vibe and loved this masterpiece, he really let himself go to this song. Life is too short, we must enjoy every moment as if it was the last one.

I'm so sorry for your loss

Thursday I don't care about you

Dressed up to the eyes
君がお洒落をしているのを見るのは
It's a wonderful surprise
とても素敵なサプライズだ
To see your shoes and your spirits rise
シューズを履き、心を躍らせる
Throwing out your frown
怒りはどこかへ捨てて
And just smiling at the sound
音に笑顔を向ける
And as sleek as a shriek
悲鳴のようになめらかに
Spinning round and round
踊り狂うんだ
Always take a big bite
大きな口を開けて食事をする
It's such a gorgeous sight
君のそんな姿を見るのは幸せだ
To see you eat in the middle of the night
夜の中心で食べているのを見るのは

The first 7 notes are beautiful. It becomes a main theme of the song, developing into a full instrumental counterpoint to the melody of the singers. Music written during this time was so meticulously crafted and intelligently designed that we had no clue what we'd be missing when this high level of talent appeared to disappear in the the 2000-2010s.
