I'm feeling pretty late to the party but I just tried my first cold start yesterday after hearing you talk about them and I had a huge realization that I've been dabbing wrong for years. Just ordered a round bottom banger for my rig, super stoked 😎
They're superior if you're not using an e-rig. I used a double walled banger as well and they seem to work pretty well, but the round bottoms are for sure better.

I’ve been doing cold starts for a week now because of your videos. I think it’s the best way once you get it down! I’ve also been consistently cleaning my rig and swabbing my banger between every hit.. my friends been looking at me weird but I’m like 👏it 👏is 👏the 👏way

As a flower guy for the last 15 years never touching a concentrate I must say I am completely lost, for the first time in a very long time, with this dab cannabis terminology. Bangers, slurpers, nails…

I was as well and just watching some videos and doing some research there are so many ways to smoke concentrate now I still prefer flower I could give you some product recommendations too try out easy to use and cheap

I used to chazz all my bangers & my friends still chazz theirs, I use coldstarts now & yes I still messed up a few bangers but now I’ve had one kept very clean with regular maintenance for 5-6 months already my buddy’s think it’s a newb method but they are the ones smoking out of charcoal looking bangers
I bought a $40 temp gun from ace hardware and I get perfect dabs every time. I feel like it’s really easy to chaz your nail with a cold start. If you overhear or get too close for one second it tastes charred and you char your nail.
Get an insert to/for your banger. Essentially another bucket you put in the banger after you heated it up and the concentrate will heat up slowly turn to vapor. Best way to cold start!

When I first started dabbing and was watching this. I agree big time Cold Starts Are The Best and great for beginners as well and do not forget to keep them clean every time is a great habit to get into. Thank you for your shows 😊

Been there done that. All quartz dab straw with a thin diameter like a mosquito. That's the most flavor to density dab I've ever tried and I've owned enails, torches ,everything.

I started my dabbing journey about a year ago now. In that year, there was plenty trial and error learning myself with maybe an article or two about dabbing. Your channel has saved me going through the rest of that trial and error, and has also answered many questions I had about cannabis and the industry.
I prefer a hybrid approach. Heat it just enough to get the dab to melt. Then heat it slowly so you get the terps and then torch it and finish it off.

I've really enjoyed your videos since discovering your channel three months ago. Your advice on dabbing is so spot on. I'm a Peak Pro user and it was the best $400 I've ever spent on a piece for dabs, and I did cold starts with a double walled banger before that. Thanks for being a good voice in the cannabis community
When i used to smoke dope i would put straight hash oil in the "oil burner" meth pipe bong attachment and thats the best way to smoke dabs. I would put a half gram in at a time and just take hits when i needed and it would last forever. However it caries prejudice since meth is mostly smoked out of it.

You could use a silicone carb cap to put on top of the nail too
You can cold start a hurricane banger works great a little tricky at first but if you just throw in like .3 and keep adding it as needed you can get really high pretty quick.
honestly, I do hot start dabs for a few main reasons but mainly because through trial and error I have found the perfect heat up and cool down time for my banger to the point where I can get a perfect low temp dab without scorching my banger. And I only need 2 Q-tips to get it completely clean so I would argue that with enough trial and error. That you can actually get the same result with a hot start dab as you would get with a cold start dab.
I’ve been dabbing for 3 years or so, and today I took my first ever cold start. I am 3x more high off of one dab than I would be if I just hit it 20 seconds after red hot😂. AND it tasted good.

I love a cold start and do use that method whenever using a rig I don’t know but I got mine to a t. 40-40 is the best for my setup and I’ll get the same hit as a cold start

A "warm" dab works well. Heat the banger to just below the melt point of the dab. Then put the dab in the banger along with the carb cap. Then heat again until the dab melts. Smooth and predictable.

idk why I stayed away from cold starts for a long time, I didn't like the idea of heating the concentrate to vapor before hitting it maybe? I always did hot starts but I tried to keep the temp low, it worked *okay*.
After watching another one of your vids about cold starts I gave it another go and man I'm never going back. For me it's been way smoother hits and way less coughing, and I definitely don't feel like I'm getting any less of the vapor.
I’m just about to order some terp pearls for my 3-D XL chamber also some Q-tips should I get Glo mops XL what do you suggest? What size pearl and what kind should I use in the 3-D XL and do you have a place where I could buy it and the Q-tips. Also, I want to make an order now, please help brother
While I don't do cold starts my only advice don't put cap on till finished. That heat will stress glass jmho
I have a HE G2 I got 5 years ago cold start almost always still looks and works like it was brand new.
Terpometer is the best way to dab. Better than a bootsy ass ir you know exactly what and when to go everytime. Perfect dab.

I don't have a big torch what I found with a quartz bottom banger. I use 2 little torches one on the bottom well both at first to get it up to temp. 1 on the side just like you said but instead of 1 torch I used 2 just because that's what I have. Thank you for cold start method!!!
You got me started with cold starts a while ago, and it's definitely the best way to dab. Getting the best flavor is key!!
Have you heard of or tried anything from Divine Tribe? I have the V5 with a bottomless banger, terp pearls and a detachable cable making it essentially an e-nail/e-rig set up and fucking awesome. I haven’t tried the puffco 3D chamber but it sounds like the same tech with the ceramic bowl that heats bottom and sides but less than half the price because you buy each part individually. I think it’s something you’d really enjoy!

I've been using my electric nectar collector because the one I bought comes with a clever neon green tube for your rig so you can just use it like a dab iron,
Set that thing to low heat and just get torched hassle fuckin' free

Peak Pro. I always do low temp/ cold starts. 495 degrees for 40 seconds. Consistently get 32-34 sessions out of standard atomizer.

If your dab tool is metal Get your dabber over the nail and hold a lighter to the stem of it and let the heat transfer down and it should slide off the tip of the tool

I’d like to hear your opinion on quartz inserts. The ones where you drop them in after heating the banger. Different method than a cold start but it gives you pretty much the same type of dab
That’s already done with cones and hollow pillars for slurpers and some people even do that with pearls for their buckets. Part of it is heated with convection so it heats slow. It’s preferable imo.
I do medium start dabs I torch it wait a good amount of time and drop it in. It immediately boils until it’s gone.

Cold starts aren’t better your just not hitting it when it’s the correct temperature. Buying better nails that hold heat well also helps

I’ve seen people say you can’t do another dab until your nail is completely cooled off. This doesn’t make sense to me. Any thoughts?
I “cold start” dabbing @ 456° & stop ~600°, then shut off enail for a minute. When turned bak on, mail temp is below 456° so I wait til it is >450° again. Then start dabbing again ! 🍁. No need 4 room temp starts.

I never used much concentrates until recently. I like the high, but using a rig is a pain. It's been very inconsistent.
I personally find that most the time 10-13 seconds is the sweet spot on most bangers I have tried

I hit my dab the genius way:
torch it red hot,
wait for it to cool,
get distracted,
remember to throw the dab in,
reheat it back to the right temp cause it got too cool.
That's just a cold start with extra steps 😂😂
